With 9/11 upon us again, let’s remember that time Chomsky told the truth about 9/11 and the West lost its mind…
today is the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, and also of the entire media class losing their minds over Chomsky telling some uncomfortable truths about it pic.twitter.com/1UXDnpL1fo

…

I went to bed at 4am on 9 Sept 2001 after watching the event unfold live on the BBC in NZ.
Foremost in my mind after the destruction and terrible loss of life was the thought: well, I suppose this will wake up USA to their hypocrisy, their self-appointed role in dishing out their brand violent hegemony and the resulting resentment it causes around much of the world whilst they believing themselves untouchable. I thought it might engender a better approach from them, one that attempted to understand and tolerate differing cultures.
I was also wrong when I thought that Trump’s supporters would see through him after about 18 months of his election in 2016. That they would turn on him with a vicious sense of betrayal.
I no longer credit the USA as having the capability of any sort of self-awareness or understanding of the global community.
Pre-eminent among the world’s great public intellectuals and social activists, Noam Chomsky is a legend, but even he would likely find it a little ironic that in praising him, so many mention “Manufacturing Consent”, the book in which he exposed how the mass media manufactures “the consent of the governed” in the interests of the powerful, when that is exactly how our understanding of 911 has been produced.
11 Sep2001 A mate rocked up and said “turn on the TV World War 3 has started”.
While not all the world is aflame it’s 23 years of continuous war each country gets it’s turn. USA v Iraq Afghanistan Libya Syria Yemen Russia.
