NZ Herald columnist and indigenous rights activist Matthew Hooton said last week that Act’s Treaty bill is all about attacking National in 2026. This is a basic political calculation that Trexit can become a Brexit and win a populist reactionary vote for ACT.
If that’s true, David Seymour has no interest in moderating his position does he?
ACT want to make Brexit our very own Brexit, a radioactive divisive stance that benefits those promoting it at the cost of social cohesion.
The entire Treaty Principles is built upon a falsehood as pathetic as Hobson’s Pledge.
Hobson’s Pledge argue that some Pom who was in the country for 5 days and who supposedly stuttered in Māori ‘We are all one people’ means that Māori ceded sovereignty!
It’s a historical falsehood to justify Hobson’s Pledge’s racist agenda!
ACT are claiming that somehow all the elite Judges got the Principles wrong and all of a sudden we need to change them!
ACT stretching this race baiting stunt out for 6 months is another example of how ACT have manipulated an incredibly weak Luxon into setting the Treaty Principles issue up as their main 2026 platform.
What ACT are doing with the Treaty Principles Referendum is the same stunt they are playing with repealing 7aa! The Treaty Principles oblige the Crown to work with Māori, similar to what 7aa does, it forces the Crown to engage with Māori when they uplift a Māori child – by removing the Treaty Principles and 7aa means the State can do what it likes without any engagement with Māori whatsoever.
They are pulling this same strategy by banning Māori Wards.
This is about the erasure of Māori and removing any obligations by the State to work alongside them.
This is about assaulting Indigenous rights and playing to the worst redneck cracker voices in NZ.
This is about large corporate interests who want to despoil the environment without being held back by Māori.
That’s why this entire debate is so hostile because it is being held in bad faith!

Total lack of understanding or interpretation of the TOW here in NZ by the average member of Joe Public. As people here in NZ, are not educated on the TOW, they only know what they hear in the media and what they hear from David Seymore, which is normally, totally incorrect.
What a “Clusterfuck” this Treaty Bill is turning out to be, I wonder what the total cost $$$’s is going to be for ACT & Seymoree’s Pet Project is going to be ????
Forget all the clauses and sub clauses and intended meaning.
The Treaty history is simple.
The British signed the treaty in 1840 when vastly out numbered.
So they said Maaris “we will hounour the Teaty in full for ever. You can trust us”
But as soon as the British became the majority they said F##k the treaty get off our land Natives.
So the British invaded, conqured subjugated and did everything to exterminate the first Nations people.
This they called “Civilisation”
150 years later a few wise left wing White people offered a “small” apology and a “little” compensation.
Now the Right White wing are with drawing the apology and want to claw back any compensation.
That is it the Treaty history in one short paragraph.

That’s right, the poms were outnumbered early on, the Treaty was a tactic, then they proceeded with a swamping policy of importing large numbers of new settlers (colonists) backed up by armed red coats.
They really wanted to eliminate Māori completely but did not quite get there, then they tried assimilation in the 20th Century to turn the remnants into brown skinned pākehā…and then thankfully the younger gens stepped up in the 70s and we know the history since. Māori are young and growing in numbers, the Reo generation. Seymour and the racists are going to go down.

Don’t put it all on Seymours narrow minded shoulders – National have chosen to go along with all of this and I suspect they have their own strategic reasons for doing so. Calling Luxon weak let’s him off the hook – I think he knows exactly what he’s doing and pinning it all on Seymour is part of an overall strategy.
There’s a strong possibility of a poorly performing economy next year and the Treaty Bill and Māori wards referendum circus’s are going to provide perfect cover. We kind of need to be careful not to fall too hard for what is clearly a political trap and we should stay focused on the economy and the impact that is having on the country.
Yes and estimates suggest 4 million to just advance the bill. This government is corrupt.
Stealmore simply used Maori bashing to get ACT into Government.
Luxon without lifting a finger gets to placate the National red necks while appearing to favour moderation.
Peter’s anti non white immigration party is also super happy for Stealmore to do the dirty work.
So all three Maori bashing anti non White parties are laughing all the way to to the next election.

Luxon sold the country to a small minded idiot and his owners to full fill his lust for power and so he could put that he was PM of a country where he led a civil war of sorts and totally fucked the economy .
The treaty was negotiated between the Maori and the Queen of england before there was a government in NZ .So if it is to be renegotiated it should be Maori and the King of england doing the negotiations not some jumped up shit head from Epsom and a skin head gang leader and the party from the river of filth .
