PM Christopher Luxon’s second fumble on benefit numbers

    • The prime minister has mixed up his numbers in a TV interview about the government’s welfare changes
    • It marks the second misstep this week after Luxon was earlier unable to say how much a Jobseeker benefit was
    • Labour says it proves the prime minister is “removed from the reality” of those in poverty

Ummm, using the new Traffic Warning system for beneficiaries, isn’t this an orange warning for Luxon’s second lie?

Actually, it’s more than 2 lies now…

…so he’s lied 4 times, shouldn’t he have some sanction on his benefit now?

How can Luxon get away with bare faced lies and not get challenged on it?

Could anyone imagine if Jacinda had lied like this 4 times in a row?

So when the Prime Minister lies it doesn’t matter?

  1. Credit where it’s due – all politicians lie. By both commission and omission. We expect it.

    Some lies are better than others, some liars are better than others. Practicing politicians know which is which.

    • Is it a lie if Luxie has a caveat of mental reservations said in his head that he adds silently after his lie is uttered ?
      For example like a Bill Clinton type
      * I have never cheated on my wife (except last Thursday)

      * Health outcomes are not worse under my watch ( except on the days after my election )

      * I do not get my numbers wrong ( I just bluff from lack of study for any maths test )

      * I am helping NZers overcome our cost of living crisis ( except for bus fares, rising food and electricity prices , congestion charges and gathering taxes through higher rates )

      * I am funding mental health and stress problems ( except for 11th August with banks causing it )

      * There would only be one tobacco outlet in Northland selling under Labour policy thus  increasing retail crime and ram raids ( if media didn’t poke their noses in and report an 18% MORE retail theft & burglaries in only the last 6 months )

      * I do not tell lies ( except on Monday,  Tuesday,  Wednesday,  Thursday, Friday )

    • We used to expect it, we really did, but come Covid – we believe – we believe – and this has not changed. We believe, we believe, we really do………………………………………………….believe

    • I don’t feel politicians lying is credible, it’s dishonest and shouldn’t be an acceptable practice or admired.

  3. He’s an idiot completely unsuited to be leading a country. Although I’m sure Bob the Fisted who conflates wealth with competency will think otherwise.

    • Are you concerned about the country and its politicians? Or is the reason for writing in to take a swipe at a fellow commenter who might be a dozy algorithm for all we know?

      I don’t want to bother thinking and writing here if this is a place for indulging in trite remarks with trite people responding; sort of fable tennis! I need to be informed and hopefully heartened, when reading here. Childish games with Bob1st and his ilk make me feel ill; is it possible for us not to be weak-minded, and ignore him and all who sail in him! (The Crimson Permanent Assurance galleon.)

His constant cock ups are a sure sign of incompetence and typical of a CEO who in the business world has underlings that create the figures for him to spout at a fixed time and place meeting in the board room .On the spot spouting in front of a free range crowd is totally different so he has not done the required research him self so is completely out of his depth which in his case is very very shallow .

    • Exactly right although you might note his free range crowds are becoming more scarce. Most of his crowds are obviously becoming more hand picked and user friendly.
      Even his post cabinet pressers are becoming less frequent and less intense

    …. It could be Luxery Luxon also visits one when he’s been telling lies and bearing false witness ,,, except his is ‘Prosperity Penance’, administered by a Dominatrix dressed as a nun in fishnets..,,,,,
