What would Jesus do? Luxon is a fundamentalist Christian, so would Jesus defund the disabled and beneficiaries?

Look at the cruelty being proposed by this Government against the Disabled and Beneficiaries…

…all in 5 working days. This isn’t welfare, it’s a punishment system designed to trip beneficiaries up so they can be disqualified from welfare.

We are throwing 50 000 off welfare into the teeth of rising Unemployment while punishing the disabled by forcing them to access the dreaded MSD for any support.

Luxon is a fundamentalist Christian, so would Jesus defund the disabled and beneficiaries?

Having browsed Scripture, he seems very against owning 7 Properties in the first place.

Here’s a taste:

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mark 10:21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Luke 6:20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

2 Corinthians 9:11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

Galatians 2:10 Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

Ephesians 4:28  Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

Jesus seems pretty keen on a capital gains taxes and doesn’t sound like he wants to create loopholes for property speculators.

I don’t think Jesus would cut benefits or abuse the disabled the way National do.

    • There is also the psychology, that the tougher you make it to get welfare, by increasing the number of steps and hoops to go through and questions to answer and forms to complete – the more reticent some people will be to coming off welfare, into a job that may not last, knowing how difficult it will be to get onto welfare again. This aspect was completely ameliorated by the TOP ubi policy.

The numbers on welfare are high at the moment, and going higher.
Also giving more powers to MSD case managers to influence how people live their lives, will run the risk of bringing out the latent Hitler in case managers disposed towards that bent. Psychological screening of staff could be useful.
May I suggest that MSD simply ask staff to volunteer to to become case managers to implement Upstons get tough policies, and all those who do volunteer, could then be barred from ever being a case manger, would be a good first step to weed out those with less desirable intentions.
A commonsense approach is necessary, but not a plus politically.

    • And therein this Post might be the underlying of NZ’s ills. There’s the assumption of the superiority of Christianity as the guiding principles of how to validate running a country as if Christians have the monopoly on what is good. Luxon’s maiden speech was full of it !  Yet it turned out ” christianize” was a cover up for ” colonize” the masses again for the benefit of the few.

If Luxie had expounded from the Qur’an his wealth and arrogance and his NATZI policies would NOT see them into the paradise. So conveniently, the pick and choose Luxie used Christianity for his maiden speech.

The Quran describes itself as a book of guidance for humankind (2:185).
Acts of Charity are a duty and they are not just for the ‘ here and now’ they have to be enduring to benefit society in a lasting manner…. ( short term policies are not the way to the Afterlife)

Those who “spend their wealth” on people who are in need because they devoted their lives to the way of Allah and whose situation is unknown because they are ashamed to ask, will be rewarded by Allah. (Al Baqara; 272-274).

(Oh dear, Mr. 7 Houses, accumulation and hoarding won’t get you to heaven! )

The Quran says, “Or to give food in times of famine, to an orphaned relative, or to a poor person in distress, and—above all—to be one of those who have faith and urge each other to have perseverance and urge each other to have compassion; these are the people of the right.” (Al-Balad, Qur’an 90: 14 – 18).

How’s cutting school lunches look now in the eyes of ‘ God ‘ ?

The Prophet Muhammad said, “O people! Spread the Islamic greetings amongst yourselves, feed the hungry, maintain KINSHIP RELATIONS –
, ( pretty sure Clause 7AA was not meant to be cut here ? )
…observe prayer at night while people are asleep, and you will peacefully enter Paradise.” (At- Tirmidhi)

A duty is also to actually ENACT words into action such as carry out Zakat and Sadaqah.

Zakat Al Maal, stands as a pillar of compassion and duty in Islam. It’s not just about giving; it’s a heartfelt obligation ingrained in the teachings of the Quran and Hadith. ( SOund familiar – Rights eg. Hadith #8 – The Right to Water, Food, and Shelter).
Almsgiving is a mandatory act of charity, a way for Muslims to cleanse and uplift their wealth. ( wealth tax ? )

“Those in whose wealth there is a recognized right for the needy and the poor.” (Surah Ma’arij, Qur’an 70:24-25)

Sadaqah is more than charity—it’s a selfless act of kindness aimed at uplifting those in need. It is support and relief to those facing hardships, demonstrating compassion and solidarity in challenging times.

( What say you now to giving BILLIONS to landlords and using the word that you’re ” entitled ” ? )

In Islam, Sadaqah Jariyah is a powerful concept that highlights the enduring impact of charitable acts, benefiting individuals and communities long after the initial donation. Combining the Arabic words “Sadaqah” (charity) and “Jariyah” (continuous), it symbolizes a virtuous cycle of giving that extends its positive influence in both this world and the Hereafter.

“When a man dies, all his good deeds end except three: ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous son who will pray for him.”

      – the eye of the needle suddenly gets thinner for the NATZI CoC .

What we do know is that many religions claim to have ” THE WORD ” of a God or of HIS prophets. What is common is that all of the interpretations of ” THE WORD ” are man made and hence the directives are man made too.

What history shows us is that All the interpretations of ” THE WORD” s can be manipulated in destructive ways too in order to colonise minds and whole bodies of populations for power and control.

Now Christians , let’s go paint over a rainbow crossing !

        • How did you read MB’s multi paragraphs of Xtian texts ? I’ll summarise slowly for you… you’re… a culchie …., dryshite…. goombeen…..nawney !

  1. MSD?

Aren’t they the crowd who suggested that the blind dude show his drivers Licence to prove his identity?

    Ministry of muppets.

  2. The MSD would soon have Jesus sorted and his little gang of followers. He left a steady, useful, well paying job to go wandering around the country spouting all kinds of conspiracy theories and fermenting discontent with the social order. MSD would have him on Orange, racing to Red, before he could say “Blessed are the whoever”

  3. Luxury Luxon needs to be asked the question Martyn poses to his face. He is a prosperity Christian which is basically a “me me me” strand of the religion.

Even the organised working class are copping it–230 full time workers on a good CEA, immediately employed at Winston Pulp and Sawmill, are down the road shortly due to the price of wholesale electricity according to the company. Contractors and others in the community will be affected too, and there are few other employment opportunities in the area.

So hundreds of workers faced with having to move to Australia–if they can– or try and get assistance from MSD/WINZ just as a Bennie bash clampdown is announced.

A true Christian surely would put the arm on the Power Gentailers to adjust their rates to prevent this human disaster from occurring.

    • Sadly Luxury L. isn’t a true Christian at all.
At some point it will have been fiscally advantageous for him to profess to being an evangelical christian of the American variety and so he did. Good contacts, plenty of secrets, allows one to pursue money and personal gain, the more the better.

Luxury Luxon would prefer to let a huge area of NZ die, than upset his powerful power mates.
As usual no long-term thinking, no planning, no good sense or logic, just stupid short-term, cruel policy which guts a community.

I’d have thought Winston Pulp and Sawmill would have also been good corporate mates, and excellent power company customers, yet they all now prefer to cut their own throats, rather than practise some proper Christianity in the name of the greater good.

The central North Is. is a challenging place in which to live, when everything is going well. They’ve had many setbacks lately. There can’t be many blue votes left there now.

Everybody winning isn’t an option apparently. Sounds like poor business decision making to me.

    • The electricity crisis facing New Zealand was engineered by the political class (yes all of them) for the benefit of New Zealand colonialism’s pathetic excuse for a capitalist class. I do not doubt (at least I have very little doubt) that the present government will take some ad hoc measures to try to salvage the situation, but will it do anything to make the most essential element of economic infrastructure perform at something better than the standards of Botswana in 1910? The regime has encouraged vastly increased demand for electricity while deliberately restricting supply. It has punished those conserving electricity and discouraged the installation of renewable domestic sources of generation all with a view to maintaining high unit prices. Now it appears to have overshot what any reasonable gentailer cartel would have regarded as a sane wholesale price for electricity. Industries are closing down, and may not come back. This is a situation which calls for more or less than a “true Christian”. That is, we need either a Messiah or a politician of sane mind. The former may come sooner than the latter.

  4. “Luxury Luxon needs to be asked the question Martyn poses to his face.”

Yes, when is the TDB going to start sending someone or a journo to parliament and live streaming hard questions from press conferences. The TDB supporters and commenter’s could/might give to an “ask the hard questions” fund.

    Thoughts?

  5. So you are starting to see the light? Luxon is definitely not the answer we need with his forced obedience to draconian rules being the complete opposite of what a loving God asks from us.

  6. Congratulations Martyn. You have quoted from the gospel with verses in full. That makes you a better Christian than Christopher Luxon. When was the last time you heard Mr Luxon quote scripture? (and I am not talking about press releases from the US State Department).

    • The quotations show a lack of familiarity with the texts but the sentiment is sound. The New Testament favours the poor materially and spiritually.

  7. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

  8. 40 Years of continual price gouging and fucking over the poor is now coming home to roost .The now private power companies are charging 500% more for the free water they harvest .The result is the country is now shutting down .
