Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Casey Costello says a major cut to taxes for “heated tobacco products” is only a “trial” aimed at helping hardcore smokers.

Here’s the problem with that. Hardcore smokers don’t vape. And lowering the price of vaping won’t change that. As they just don’t work for us.

We are the ones that are still consuming cigarettes.

Therefore, if you really want to help us, lower the costs of cigarettes. That way we may be able to afford healthy food again.

Lowering the cost of vaping will only encourage more young ones to vape.

  2. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/522474/benefit-sanctions-increase-more-than-50-percent
Beneficiaries are bad people and gummint must come down on them, hard? That seems the attitude. During the development of the German Nazi Party groups of people including homosexuals and Jewish, were portrayed as being bad people, who were treated punitively and put into concentration camps which had numbers increasing as the Nazis found others to pick on. I don’t think it is being too wild to refer to ‘the slippery slope’ in NZ/AO.

But before the terrible dehumanised officialdom and camps, there are the conditions of poverty and miserable treatment seen in Britain in the Industrial Revolution. We are already seeing the cruel conventions in NZ/AO in which people develop a carapace that allows them to excuse and justify themselves in unreasonable and unfair actions encouraged or unpunished by employers whether government or not.

…The topic of homosexuality appeared frequently in the German press, literature, and film of the day. Everyone was discussing it. New clubs, bars, and other meeting places for gays and lesbians were opening all the time. There were around 100 bars of this type in Berlin alone. In the mid 1920s, rising inflation and the economic recession strengthened Nazism. The nationalist right emphasized das Volk, the purity of race and blood, and the role and sanctity of family life. The Weimar Republic came under increasingly frequent attack for condoning too great a degree of sexual laxity. The Jews were accused of lowering the moral standards of the Germans, and above all of directing efforts aimed at destroying the Aryan race and reducing the population…

Mittelbau-Dora was an underground rocket-assembly camp in the middle of Germany. It was a death camp without gas chambers. Its workers worked and lived like moles in the bowels of a damp, dark, cold mountain. In the short time that it existed, both in the main camp and the sub-camps, approximately 20,000 of the 60,000 prisoners died. Because the camp developed rockets used in warfare, it was subject to extensive bombing by the Allies…

…One cannot help but note that the Nazi scientists were brought into the United States to lead its space explorations, a fact kept in mind by Eli Rosenbaum, director of its Office of Special Investigations (O.S.I.). For the past three decades, he has kept Mittelbau-Dora in mind, as he built a case against Arthur Rudoph, who managed the U.S. Pershing Missile program and the Saturn V program, which developed the first rocket to the moon. Rudolph had been a member of the Nazi party two years before Hitler took office. In Mittelwerk, he had voluntarily watched the slow strangulation by hanging of prisoners accused of sabotage…

  3. Further concerning political moves. German Nazi zealots beat up people, perpetrated violence in the 1930s after Hitler was elevated by the reigning government.

    In USA Trump’s zealots:

…Hmm. Apparently, the INews correspondent and his sources never heard of the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. After Trump urged his followers to “fight,” five people died: a Police officer was beaten to death, a rioter was shot and three other people died during the rampage. To take one of many other examples… at a neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville in 2017, MAGA fascists killed an anti-racist protester. Trump’s response? He claimed there were “some very fine people on both sides” that day. Trump is not a victim. Yesterday, he narrowly avoided being consumed by the fires that he has lit, and fanned into flame….
