Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist language, homophobic language, racist language, anti-muslim hate, transphobic language, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

Can’t we get anything structurally sound and lasting in NZ/AO? Marx – “all that is solid melts into air” So looking for a Maori language dictionary. Unsatisfactory results for immediate and simple information. I would have thought that there would by now be a useful dictionary for those trying to use Maori language who aren’t able to study it in depth. A fair bit of money from government has gone in hasn’t it? Just getting the language into discourse should be one of the objects surely to keep te reo alive and relevant. Spread that idea across the motu and get practical not idealistic and fiery. Make it easy for the beginner, not be didactic.

    Tēnā koe.
    Nau mai ki Te Aka.
Welcome to the online version of Te Aka Māori-English, English-Māori Dictionary and Index. This online Māori dictionary is aimed at providing quick access but it is recommended that you also purchase the hard copy for use in class and when you are not online.

Entered ‘ Christmas phrases’ and got the bird. Same with ‘Christmas greetings’.

This link provides information about its background. I don’t want to have money makers using internet Maori information to make themselves rich. There should be government money to set up an official site. I didn’t feel I had found one.
Twinkl was one site but sounds commercial.
Also talking about American English – https://languagedrops.com/word/en/english/m%C4%81ori/translate/christmas/

Looked at the Polyglot Club. It seems too good to be true. I would think that some one behind it, like Scientology etc. It is free. why? There are always costs. Nobody can be trusted these days when they come and offer you magic beans, you aren’t likely to get a magic beanstalk so let’s not be wet about every offer we hear or see.

  2. Is there a reason RNZ seems to have so many ‘technical issues’ lately?

    Lack of training?
Know it all cadets in charge?
    Yea Nah lack of interest?

Suggestions please on the back of a postcard to P O Box 123 Wellington

The word is cash! You are not in the 20th century now Dr Ropata. This time now the lights bring people and that means business and that helps to pay the rent and only the quick and the dead survive. This now is a country where new zeal is required just to get by. Today you have to try harder to make a buck. Get real and live with it complacent moaners.

Oh the social cost is important now. What about being able to get from one place to another safely and reasonably quickly. And comfortably. Having to drag along behind a car as wide and high as a bus with no view of the road ahead or the surrounding country is a psychological burden.

Why can’t we have areas of the road where we can use our own initiative. We could try encouraging couttesy for other drivers, a feeling of sharing the road, embarking on small voyages in our land. Courtesy is missing, if I move over and wait to give somebody room. or slow down to enable someone tspace to turn out, I would welcome a small wave of the hand etc to acknowledge. But drivers seem to be oblivious of all the others oin the road with them. It wuld be a change for this officious, fault finding government to apply courtesy comments instead of fines!

And social costs? What about the social costs of not caring about parents? Cars and roads all important to the bean counters. People and socialisation and society not.
