Labour leader Chris Hipkins continues to campaign against National-ACT “cuts”
Two weeks from election day, Labour leader Chris Hipkins has continued to attack a potential National-ACT coalition for “cutting” welfare payments and promising to “steal summer”.
ACT Party leader David Seymour was in Queenstown, announcing small business policy that included a three-year freeze on minimum wage increases, and a removal of the January 2nd public holiday “to absorb the cost” of the Labour Government’s Matariki public holiday.
…that’s such a damaged and malformed view of public holidays and ACT will steal one back for the bosses!
It’s like a creche for Catholic Priests accused of sexually molesting children.

It’s a an oil company on the side of the petrol.
To rob Kiwis of their New Years holiday because ACT suck the balls of bosses is such an outrageous policy and shows how totally and utterly pathological ACT truly are.

Better to have dumped Kings Birthday, that is close to Matariki & would have got a lot more support.
That makes sense, after all there is precedent for that – they have recently removed Queen’s Birthday as a holiday….
There are two more “stolen” public holidays. The National Day of N.Z. (January 29th) was supposed to remain as a national public holiday, while Dominion Day (September 26th) is supposed to be a bank holiday and an eventual “Monday-ised” public holiday.

To hell with David Seymour. New Year is yet another long standing part of our European cultural heritage which these namby-pamby wokesters are trying to destroy, and for no good reason.
Our first university, Otago, built and endowed by the first-footing Scottish pioneers who, unlike our barbarous politicians, held education in high regard, is now a tragic world-trailing pc joke, and for no good reason either. Throughout the world which I know of, New Year, has historically been a time of huge significance at many levels, even if only for a jolly good booze up.
If this moron Seymour sees it as merely a public holiday, then he’s more of an ignoramus than I would have thought possible. Time for him to learn to read, or listen to good music, or ponder ballet, instead of his asinine twerking and cavorting with nasty barbarians like himself. He’s shaping into a bigger little shit than the shortie from Dipton.
He’s always seemed to be a cold little man, taking real pleasure in nothing artistic or beautiful or clever.
What would he contribute to govt. that would be up-lifting and inspiring?

Taking away Jan 2 holiday? Just a stop-gap till he can take your job away permanently via some budget cut or eventually AI. Once you have nothing to do, he’ll give you your holiday back – then castigate you for idleness, cut your benefit, let you die from treatable diseases because treatment is unaffordable, turn the firehose on you as you sleep in a cardboard box on the pavement and encourage the Mark Mitchell clones he’s recruited into the Police to beat you up at random.
