Nicola Willis chokes under Tax high ball and manages to remind everyone how Christian National is

You can see why National have waited as long as they have to release their Tax policy, they want as little scrutiny of what is effectively a Rich Landlord Subsidy paid for by working parents, mutilating public transport and raiding climate funds.

National want voters focused on the headline of $250 a fortnight when the reality is the vast majority will see only $25 per week.

Rich Landlords will get the $250 and the entire thing is premised on National removing the foreign buyers ban which will cause house prices to drive upwards which is exactly what their Real Estate pimp mates who are donating in the millions want!

As National was out selling this rort, Nicola Willis choked under the high ball. When she was pushed in the morning breakfast shows she didn’t shut down taxing Churches and it led for most of the morning until National had to step up and specifically kill the speculation but in doing so reminded voters how beholden to Religious interests National are.

Which would be unfair because National are beholden not only to religious interests, but also to Corporate Dairy, Chinese Business interests and property speculators.

It was poor handling of a scam, but luckily the shallow media coverage will allow them off the hook…

…if by ‘good’ you mean robbing poor people to pay for rich people.

  1. It’s ridiculous that churches are exempt. Based on what? Why? When Luxon was asked the morning of their tax policy release he said he would not rule it out in future on the back of a question around ACT wanting churches and charities to be taxed like everyone else

      • Indeed Yeti.
        It seems partnership or co governance isn’t really if one side isn’t paying for anything but wanting a half or whole share of everything.
        Representation without taxation is just as egregious as taxation without representation eh.

    • All fair points, but I guess the article is about Nationals tax policy and based on the assumption that they will be the new government.

      It’s now becoming apparent that Nationals plans are equally as complicated as gst off fruit and vegetables. In fact the foreign buyer thing is looking like a joke now.

  2. Nicola was also telling porkies when questioned by tv3 Ryan Bridge when he asked her who told her about the so-called wild west gambling group. She is false and flakey surely NZers can see right through her.

  3. Again, the housing market is cooked – nothing will change on that front.

    It’s everyone for themself in New Zealand atm. It’s a ‘to-go=bag’ situation! Aim of the game is to be ready to up-sticks and transfer your wealth offshore, if/when necessary.

    Neither Labour or National are going to magically make housing affordable. In fact the RBNZ believe current house prices are “sustainable”.

    It’s hopium to think Labour or National will ‘fix’ housing. National had 9 years. Labour had 3 years, then another 3 years with ultimate power.

    Yes, poor housing is a root cause of many problems! Will progress be made, NO! So it’s everyone for themself – get your to-go-bad ready.

    • in 2015 NZ homes were owned by a slight majority by owner/occupiers, fast forward to 2022 and the biggest home owners are investors.

      • I think that being a religion qualifies for tax exemption without having to prove any charitable activity.
        But only belief in certain selected invisible fairies qualify as religion.
        Invisible fairies are not created equal.

  5. I want a serious review of companies like Sanitarium who don’t pay tax, this is nuts. I think parts of Ngai Tahu don’t either, someone needs to proper analyse all of this.

    Perhaps Michael Gousmet in Otautahi / Rangiora I think could be asked to write something that tells us what that really means, where does the money go that makes them a charity. I do think charities REAL ONES, Sallies, city mission, Red cross etc should not be taxed.
