The most telling detail in NZ First Conference vs Green Conference

1702

The Greens and NZF held their conferences over the weekend and the most telling part was not the policy announcements or even NZFirst’s Hobson Pledge fanatics and AntiVax Dr candidates, it was the turn out.

The Greens in Wellington could barely get 100 people to their conference, NZ First in Auckland had over 500 and had to move rooms to accomodate everyone.

Watching the Greens try and explain how they’ve failed at gaining anything meaningful for their vacant Ministerial baubles would be funny if the planet wasn’t melting.

NZFirst’s descent into anti-science quackery and Hobson Pledge anti-Māori sludge is their final last gasp at political relevance and it could well see them cross the 5% threshold.

NZ First has momentum, the Greens do not and it’s apparent on the conference floors.

  1. Martyn – Well written…it is a real head scratcher why the Greens are polling above 7%, without strong public support..

    • It could be how the polls are conducted.
I presume they do this by random phone calls, half of would be to people who are either ineligible to vote (too young or not residents), not registered to vote, or cannot be bothered to vote.

  2. If more than 5% of voters believe that we should not have been forced to be vaccinated during covid and/or that our best way forward as a country is to act as ‘one people’ then they get a voice in Parliament as they should. I find their beliefs no more disturbing or crazy than a lot of which is coming out of TPM, the Greens and Act.

    • It’s all very boring stuff though. There is a huge economic crisis, another global financial crash brewing, the highest chance of WWIII breaking out in sixty years (and the highest risk of nuclear war in history) — and Winston has no answers to any of it.

If he ran a proper populist campaign, he might be speaking to a Trump-style rally of 20,000+, not 500.

The Greens seem to be in deep trouble. Maybe corporate donations will keep them alive, but surely some of their leaders are close to being sacked.

    • So more than 90% getting vaccinated isn’t acting as “one people”? I get that is separate from actually having a mandate but there are some who completely over blow the unity, or supposed lack of, piece for good press/politics. It’s like being told I “don’t feel safe”. I don’t feel any less safe than I did before, and last week’s episode in downtown Auckland was gobsmacking in terms of people acting like violence is something new in this country.

      • If you think that everyone who got vaccinated, wanted to be vaccinated as opposed to going along with it because of pressure from government or employers- much less be vaccinated with the Albert Bourla hot-shot- you have another think coming.

        • Exactly. Taking vaccination numbers and conflating it to vaccine support is very wrong.

Remember Jacinda was quite proud to proclaim that she was creating two classes of citizens, the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. She’s went out of her way, so that if you choose not to be vaccinated, that your life was going to be as a 2nd class citizen.

          Lest we forget

  3. The Greens departed from their principles, the environment, some time ago.If they don’t return to those principles they will lose votes.
They seem to be only about themselves as individuals.

    • Bob They’re anti previous supporters like me, who quit because of Marama’s racism, and toss in their age- ism as well and I’m relieved that I never accepted their social invites. With all white cisgender males being deemed violent thugs as recently as March of this year, they’re being unrealistic expecting demographics they dislike to support them. Extending human rights to trees, fishes, rivers, and electric bicycles might garner more votes, and anything is possible in this mad world. Why they were opposed to women having freedom of speech is much too backward for me too.

      • [Marama’s racism, and toss in their age- ism as well and I’m relieved that I never accepted their social invites. With all white cisgender males being deemed violent thugs]
If you think that these trivialities cancel out the value of wealth tax, something that this country desperately needs, then you need to get your priorities in order.
For my money the GP is only party worth voting for in this election; and I say that as someone who has been a floating voter all my life.
Even if you disagree with the imposition of wealth taxes, the issue is still more than all those other things; an election is not the appropriate platform for those things anyway.

        • Hilarious. Vote for the people who openly advocate to discriminate against you because of your age, sex and skin colour cos they’ll give us a wealth tax lols!

Just to be clear, you would side with the confederates in the US civil war if they promised a wealth tax?

          • [Hilarious. Vote for the people who openly advocate to discriminate against you because of your age, sex and skin colour cos they’ll give us a wealth tax lols!]
What a load of bovine manure you speak. Nobody is discriminating against anybody, except in your perverted imagination.
As for the confederates, their main beef with Lincoln’s government seems to have been their concerns about the imposition of tariffs, which may been an issue more appropriate for a political decision (just like the issue of wealth taxes is for us.

  4. Lets face it, is is now an embarrassment to be a Green Party member. How can a greenie support such a self absorbed group of people who squandered the opportunity to do something meaningful for the planet and NZ society. Everything has gone backwards, including the things they concentrated on.

  5. When you cancel “white” people, men, boys, biological females, and create your own little woke language, aka cis-gender, you ain’t got much real, left to advocate for.

    • Yes indeed. One could focus on the planet and the environment and align oneself with any major party that will pay for bottom line initiatives. Votes for budget! But then that would make one a useful Green Party…there’s no political milage in that is there?

What? Like they’re the same thing? MMP, the creation of jimbo bolgers gubbimint to destabilise to control. The Green Party in this instance was, I’d argue, is specifically crafted and drafted to benignly control our primary industry’s money printing capabilities while Big Oil, Big Chemical, Big Domestic Money and Big foreign owned Banksters rampage over our family farmers in preference for cowsploitation and pine trees. And on the subject of growing ridiculous *pine trees to off-set the global heating thing… we’d be far, far better off growing *Pot instead. *AKA Kiff, Ghanja, spliff, cannabis, hemp, Skunk, marijuana, dope, grass, weed, head, mary jane, doobie, bud, ganja, hashish, hash and bhang.
    * Pine tree growing’s a scam concocted by the same villainous 14 multi-billionaire scum who stole our money from selling our state owned assets to give themselves $50 million dollar apartments in Manhattan NYC and much much more, lets not forget that.
Stuff. $50m+ New York penthouse secured by NZ billionaire Graeme Hart

“Peters first served in the Cabinet as minister of Māori affairs when Jim Bolger led the National Party to victory in *1990. He was dismissed from this post in 1991 after criticising his own Government’s economic, fiscal and foreign ownership policies. He resigned from the National Party to form the populist party New Zealand First in 1993.”
    * You see, to me, that stinks to high heaven. He’s a neo-liberal tool. A means to gain advantage by leading from behind. He really dose redefine the terms Machiavellian and Confederate.
His being dismissed, or rather quitting from the Natzo’s was a plan to infer he was an independent soldier for the common good. Look at the stats after 30 years? What do the facts tell you?
Here’s a fact according to The Daily Blog. There are 14 Kiwi-As multi-billionaires, there are 3118 multi-millionaires with individual wealth in excess of $50 million each, there are four foreign owned banks literally stealing $180.00 a second from you, but not fucking me, in net profits 24/7/365 and all that while our gubbimints are doing back door deals with foreign wealth by selling them citizenships to what we assume is still our country. Ask jonky about his cuddly bestie seen earlier holding donald trumps flaccid fingers, peter thiel.
Ask Larry Page of Google? He flew his Gulf Stream private jet over the heads of our kids, many suffering ill health stuck on waiting lists or through a lack of money, to get his kid fixed before flying back to his private Pacific island. See? To me, that sounds like corruption, call me old fashioned if you must.
When I write that we need a public royal commission of inquiry into where our money and the money made from sales of the state funded assets we built with our taxes went then you’d be wrong. We all know it was tourism.
Our Aotearoa / New Zealand was flooded with tourists from about 1874. We began by selling them souvenir trinkets including plastic Maori dolls wearing little grass shirts then we expanded into paddling those same tourists up and down rivers and lakes in the off season. Then, once they were fat, we butchered them in freezing works and exported their meat to the Germans. There was also a vigorous market for human hair for American baldies.
The scope and scale of corruption within AO/NZ’s polite leafy suburbs cannot be over stated. Aye Boys?

  7. Good to know that Labour and Greens kept their promise and are creating all these affordable, inner city, apartment housing like 115m2 for only $3.3 million dollars. So affordable. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/property/new-homes/new-apartment/auckland/auckland-city/grey-lynn/listing/3980124193 Sarcasm.

Oh look, another lovely new build development from Fletchers in Manurewa at affordable prices!! https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/property/new-homes/new-house/auckland/manukau-city/manurewa/listing/4210864998

It was worth getting rid of community planning and zoning and bringing in hundreds of thousands of migrant workers on low or no wages for all these affordable new build houses. Still the government believe the answer is borrow more so that more migrants can come to build more ‘affordable’ new builds.

Lets have a look at apartment affordability of old builds in city centre. A fraction of the price. If Government wanted to create affordable housing, it seems to be already existing.

  8. Winston is still a tory through and through. He wrecked his career yet again, when he could have retired with some dignity, when he prepared that intemperate letter to the Governor General in 2020 to withdraw confidence in his MMP Coalition Partner. That finished the old fucker off in many eyes.

What I would grant NZ First though is the Provincial Growth Fund that they pushed through despite Labour resistance. PGF has achieved many micro economic positive results in the Far North that’s for sure. But, it is bye bye for Mr Peters this year for all money–unless he is a TDB fan and takes Bombers advice.

    • You are delusional.. Winston Peters and NZF will knock off 10% plus on the night…

You know there’s a lot of
People out there who don’t want this bs gender and sex and puberty blockers crap rammed down our kids throats…
