Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist language, homophobic language, racist language, anti-muslim hate, transphobic language, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Are we to be ripped off at every turn, we ordinary citizens?

Funny, I don’t recall ever having a referendum as to our thoughts, feelings about living in a rather slow, nanny state versus a hyped up fast-moving unprincipled, callous, capitalist one where money and having lots of it gave promotion to the meanest intellect, in all meanings.
On offer as well, a facade of consideration to everyone else as long as the production company is paid well.

When the facade fails, and the hologram fails though, what we see is the holo’ part and it’ sure is empty. We used to be called Sleepy Hollow, now it’s Sickly Hollows and DEATH awaits (when we can join Terry Pratchett who could be our Deity du jour.)

A 16-year-old has pleaded guilty to manslaughter this morning.
He killed Ōkaihau man Michael Biggins in September 2021 – at age 15.
The teen was originally jointly charged with murder, with another boy who was 12 at the time…
In the High Court at Whangārei this morning, he was supported by his parents and grandparents, and held his hands clasped….

Sickly family – too late for them to turn out for the young ones amongst them to do them good. Quick look round for a reporter to cry in front of talking about how kind or how lost the victim was; perhaps a mea culpa, or to direct blame on someone else. More effort is required from all parents’ personal principles and commitment to one’s self respect which can then be passed onto the children and limit their childish mistakes. Young people are only grown up on the outside, the frame of the body, but in mind the concepts of life are likely to be shallow for many years.

    • Time to lower the age, the age at which youth murderers get treated as adults before the courts that is. And if you stab someone to death you should spend the rest of your life isolated in a cage, because someone’s life is worth infinitely more than your pathetic, cry bully regret.

      • Oh Ethan just keep believing and working for it and you too will get your wish. Signs from the heavens and portents show this to be likely.

  3. This sounds a good suggestion in comment on Scoop. Think on Port Wellington and KiwiRail –
the time is now, not parked and reviewed in two years…time.

The frequency of mechanical failures in the fleet of Cook Strait ferries indicates that the capital needs an ocean-going tug. The harbour’s two tugs lack the power and towing equipment to be able to go out into Cook Strait in a big swell and severe southerly to tow a disabled ferry to safety.

  4. The sacking of Rob Campbell certainly has its benefits.
While technically? the sacking is probably correct, it’s enabled him to lay it out as it is.

As someone that’s worked in Justice, MWD, and the Colonial Office, and elsewhere both pre and post the neolib’s reforms, he’s on the money.

@MB is correct (as is H1). We need more public service capacity. But capacity at the worker bee levels – NOT the unproductive managerialist levels that are effectively just sponging off the public and not serving it.

The good thing is that with all the neolib managerialists’ theory of cost centres, KPI’s and codes of conduct, it would be relatively easy to re-reform the public service, and in a way that doesn’t have to be too traumatic for the worker bee public servants. And the technophiles takeover of public servant-public interaction could make that re-reform even easier
We have some really good people in the PS, but unfortunately we also have some real egg rolls who hold positions of power they do not deserve.
It’s good to hear Chippy agree some laxative wouldn’t go amiss

    • Oh and sorry @ SnowWhite. There’s a Public Service Commissioner that would be better suited to a role as a trolley attendant at Garbak’s New World Chaffers Street. You may well have had good experiences with His/Them, and His/Them may well have done some good things in an earlier life, but tits and bulls is where His/Them stands now. His/Them might even get a decent massage if His/Them took the role His/Them is best suited to. Might even be able to claim some Green/Brown/Turquoise creds and stand for parly Armint

  5. Oh fuck!!!!
Here we go. Sad times at the death of Georgina Beyer ideen.
I’m watching those cashing in on Her death. Paul Henry – keep your trap shut for a while, but also a few in the Labour Party likewise. And all gActoids. Some/many of you will be breathing a sigh of relief she had the good manners not to have done a Rob Campbell number on you.
    Too soon
