The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist language, homophobic language, racist language, anti-muslim hate, transphobic language, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

To whom do I make my complaint, (Paraphrasing Kierkegaard.)*
I have just put up a new incandescent bulb made for Phillips in India. I note that the bulbs which used to last 6 months for $1 odd now have gone to 5 months, 3 months, and the price is going up. I expect this one will only last 3 months as when I look at the connection end it looks badly put together as if damp could get in. As I have a leak in the roof due to be fixed in a short while, damp may affect this. The new energy savers are very expensive and I feel that they are too expensive to fear a short from damp.
If I was poorer I couldn’t afford them. Might there come a time when we can’t afford artificial lighting if we aren’t rich? Is this how a developed economy should look? Is this what we expected or will accept? Perhaps we could get rid of politicians and the people hold interviews ourselves to hire the administrators directly. No worries then as to them serving the state with no bias to any party, they will know they are serving the people. Hooray for now and for the future decades as we aspire to keep our prized supports growing or going and serving; and then we may be able to enjoy ourselves.
(Just been watching the Fantastic Mr Fox which is very effective about saving oneself against malign forces. Sort of Chicken Run style.)
What were Kierkegaard’s three enemies?
[The three enemies of authentic existence and faith are: (1) established Christianity (i.e., doing what the Church says is right); (2) middle-class, bourgeois culture (i.e., doing what society says is right); and (3) the dominant philosophy of the day (i.e., Hegelianism, in which truth is objective, rational, …

Nominations are currently open, and close on January 31 at 5pm.
“New Zealand belongs to all of us, so let’s make sure we look after it and build the future we want,” the post said.
There are 15 conservation boards in New Zealand, with 12 members on each. They exist to involve communities in conservation areas, and are a way for people to tell DOC what they care about.
Anyone can be nominated or nominate themselves for a board position, and they are ultimately appointed by the Minister of Conservation – currently Poto Williams.
I resile from some of my electric globe rant – the last one which I had marked on the stem with vivid black had faded and I see that it did last six months. But there was a time that gummint was being advised to drop incandescent altogether for green reasons, and thank goodness for poor citizens that they didn’t go for that.
Whither weather, whether?
Good news!!!! https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/482166/ozone-layer-may-be-restored-in-decades-un-report-says
Human action to save the ozone layer has worked as hoped, and it may recover in just decades, the UN says.
An international agreement in 1987 to stop using the harmful chemicals that were damaging the layer has been successful, the major assessment said.
Let’s do it every six months ,,, aw come on let’s!

We had quite a lot of impact last night,” Thames Valley Civil Defence controller Garry Towler told Morning Report.
The eastern seaboard has been most affected, he said, and it was highly likely the entire eastern seaboard would close after high tide, he said.
“We’ve got widespread flooding, we’ve got a number of slips all the way from Hikuai all the way up to Whitianga. Widespread phone and power outages as well.
“The impact is quite dramatic in terms of what is still to come but also we’ve got to keep this in context because we had over 400mm of rain last week and there’s just no capacity to absorb some of this stuff.”

“We’re encouraging everyone to take a moment before making a payment or giving away personal information, just to be sure it’s not a scam,” says New Zealand Bankers’ Association chief executive Roger Beaumont.
“Scams are a form of financial crime. They are constantly evolving and increasingly sophisticated. Scams tend to involve criminals pretending to be a trusted person or organisation who then persuade people to make payments to them or hand over personal information to access their bank accounts….
“Tomorrow we’re launching a campaign to help raise awareness about scams. We’re using radio ads, street posters and social media to get the message out.
“We’re running this campaign over the summer break when people are more relaxed and might take a moment to think about scams and how to keep themselves safe.
