The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, Β 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. 1. Bugger!
I fear Labour have blown this RNZ-TVNZ “merger”!

Oh how easy it could have been if handled differently and without the need for a load of consultants and various other ticket clippers.

  2. Up the creek without a paddle, that’s where we will get left quite often now the Marsden point refinery is closed making us vulnerable to what is offered, relying on good standards from others that we can’t rely on from ourselves even. Laugh uproariously – our operating systems as a country are a farce.

Z Energy, which is the owner of the dud shipment, told airlines last night they’d need to conserve fuel in coming weeks.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment says routine fuel testing of a jet fuel shipment has raised some concerns and there is a potential impact to jet fuel supply.
Since April this year – the country’s only oil refinery based at Marsden Point ceased operations and became an import-only terminal for already-refined products.

David Keat worked at Marsden Point Refinery for 27 years – becoming Refining Manager – second in charge under the CEO.
He says if Marsden Point had retained the capacity to refine – the aviation fuel could be reprocessed, and he is concerned about the country’s fuel security.

But when the closing of the refinery was ongoing there was a strong Labour Party management view that welcomed the closure. The Right Thing To Do. Pity Labour keeps thinking it’s right, and with swelled chest outdoes the Right.

Note a later report from RNZ (RadioNZ) giving background to the matter and the processes we had before to deal with quality problems.

Great I have a dying relative in another island needing my presence soonish and want to travel at Christmas for rare visit to grandies. SNAFU – memories of the difficulties at Christmas of ferry stoppages from disruptive Cooks and Stewards Union strike. Better dead than red?

  3. Given the latest over contaminated fuel:
what are your reckonings and thinkings of the Megans?

Do you think she still has “faith” in her ‘officials’ ?

Personally, I wouldn’t trust half of them to run a bloody orgy in a brothel. Or even a gay ayshun boi pervy site at a supermarket franchise (even when I’m laughing)

    • I think you should have a cup of tea, or maybe a nightcap if you will, and go to bed with an entertaining book.

The Devil makes work for idle hands. Some people need to have jobs that can use their energies, and then we all need reflection time to prevent going off in a frenetic craze. It’s
a ‘wilding pines out’ sort of negative approach. But we need trees whatever type and certainly when fully grown, even if they end up getting chopped down. Where is the balance, the thoughtful deliberation. I’ve come across people with fixed ideas attached to ideology rather than outcomes. I think that is an important word – What OUTCOMES Do We Desire – should be at the top of any planning and working page?

  5. Uh oh. I have a feeling that FENZ – Fire and Emergency – is under professional or business administrators. And tending to feel like pieces of replacable meat in a monopolised game.

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/480340/findings-into-fire-and-emergency-s-culture-and-complaints-process-released
The review said leaders at all levels of FENZ needed to have clear performance expectations to take responsibility for culture change.
Fire and Emergency said some of the recommendations would be quick to implement but some would take more time and consideration.

Board chair Rebecca Keoghan MNZM said they were committed to improvements.
“Our intentions were good, but we have fallen short in terms of implementation and where we need to be,” she said.
In 2018, Judge Coral Shaw reviewed the organisation and, as well as finding a culture of bullying and harassment, reported there were unacceptable levels of sexism, racism and homophobia.

I notice that there is a board of three women passing judgment. Firefighters need values and limits but are they being served by this close female scrutiny and to what level. If a man brushes a woman’s breasts once does that result in an official complaint? Or the opposite, badly behaved woman! Does she give him an elbow in the ribs and scowl and that’s dealt with. Are firefighters, men or women, polite and helpful to each other, most of the time, with some cheek allowed?

We have been fighting fires for yonks in NZ! Can we just be capable, well-trained, considerate, not sadistic or overly loose, and look after these special people; and be sure that the working managers get more pay than the administrative sitters!

  6. Who if anybody is being fired? New FENZ lineup – more women calling the shots! Are the men behind the couch? Can we have 50/50 rather than a blushwash?
    https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA2212/S00074/changes-to-fire-and-emergency-new-zealand-board-announced.htm

Minister of Internal Affairs, Jan Tinetti is today announcing changes to the board members of Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) to assist in improved performance from the Crown Entity.
β€œIt is important that FENZ has the governance and support it needs to meet the Governments expectations; to ensure our fire and emergency service is fit to serve New Zealanders.
The two new FENZ Board members are –
Hon Ruth Dyson, QSO as Deputy Chair, and Belinda Clark, QSO. Ms Dyson and Ms Clark will be in place for an initial period of 12 months.

  7. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/480354/third-of-nz-navy-ships-idle-as-defence-force-staff-leave
Our Chief of Defence seems to be from the air side; what say has the Navy got over its deployment? What seniority have they in our Defence management line-up? Our great little country with so much to spend on helping the big nations with their sabre-rattling. But the navy does much good work re our fisheries, and the air force in rescue as well as surveillance. The Navy probably is most use to NZ if we put aside the pressures from larger nations.

  8. I think this is a lovely story of care for vulnerable animals. Now I know that single parents aren’t as cute and have some prejudice to overcome.

But say if some parent and children put their name down with some organisation that wasn’t punitive as WINZ and Orange Tamariki can be. They would say that they would like some Help FTTT. If they put down a few specific things that would help, and when and time, people might feel able to do that much if they weren’t in a horrid neighbourhood. If it was carefully monitored, it could be useful.
