Wait, what?
Let me see if I can get this completely straight.
TVNZ, the Public Broadcaster has a TV show called Fuck Boy Island where contestants judge if the ‘Boy’ is a ‘nice Boy’ or a ‘Fuck Boy’?
And it turns out one of the ‘Fuck Boys’ is actually a Fuck boy?
TVNZ’s new reality show FBoy Island NZ hit by discovery contestant faced court charge over teen
A new reality show has been rocked by the revelation one of its stars took advantage of a teenager’s drunkenness to get her into bed then covered her mouth and nose to keep her quiet when she called for help.
TVNZ’s FBoy Island NZ is less than a fortnight from going to air with Wayde Moore, 26, as one of 20 young men vying for the attention of three women who must decide if they are “nice guys” or “Fboys”.
The term FBoys is slang for “f*** boy”, a term for men who never intend a sexual encounter to involve a relationship or act as if entitled to sexual encounters.
This week the state broadcaster learned Moore appeared in court last year charged with suffocating a woman he admitted to police he lured to his home because she was drunk and he hoped to have sex with her.
So there was a trial, he admitted to trying to have sex with this drunk girl, when she started shouting to stop, he put his hand over her mouth and was charged with suffocation, but because his intent was to make her quiet, he was technically not guilty of suffocation?
Charming.
Choosing a Fuck Boy to be on a Show called Fuck Boy Island is the least of the problems here.
How the fuck is a show called Fuck Boy Island on the Public Broadcaster?
Would we have Ethical Slut Island? Is that what TVNZ Executive Simon Power is bringing to our screens next season?
There should be no show called Fuck Boy Island on the fucking Public Broadcaster!
Who the Christ thought this was ‘public broadcasting’?
When this was mooted did anyone in the meeting go, ‘Why the fuck are we producing crass shit like this and calling it ‘Fuck Boy Island’?
We have enormous geopolitical shockwaves coming, we have deep rooted social issues in our society that are screaming for attention and we have the threat of domestic terrorism rising and TVNZ is spending money on a show where Fuck Boys, including one who was charged with suffocating a drunk woman and attempting to have sex with her, play games where they behave like Fuck Boys on a show called Fuck Boy Island?
What the fuck is going on here?
See why we need a RNZ/TVNZ Merger?
This shit should be the first to get cut!
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.
If you can’t contribute but want to help, please always feel free to share our blogs on social media

Just shows that media seems to be driving a lot of the sexual inappropriateness and have lost touch with reality in their decision making of absolute rubbish for clicks – yes a lot of sexual predators might be keen to watch and be Fuck Boys, yippee!
Agreed SNZ. My first reaction was WTAF?! But there’s so much of this sort of crap out there now and overseas on media. I was really surprised to see a case about a school teacher in Canada, a man with truly humongous breast implants and equally large and grotesque nipples teaching woodwork to kids in school. Canada has anti hate legislation so the school is at pains to fix the situation of this guys perverted illness being forced I children. I posted a link here earlier but TDB hasn’t let it through. Slightly off topic, but sexual abuse often hides in plain sight. Here’s a different link: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11242967/amp/MEGHAN-MCCAIN-School-teacher-wearing-fake-boobs-proof-paralyzed-political-correctness.html
I’ve always felt that reality TV is aimed at society’s bullies, glorifying and normalising appallingly bad behaviour, made by sociopaths to make money, without the care of any consequences.
Are you thinking of the likes of that hideous creature Joolie Krusty by any chance?
Terry. Good points, but this program looks particularly denigrating to both young women and men. Seems to me that Simon Power sees his job as catering to bottom-feeders.
Well said Terry totally right.
“This shit should be the first to get cut!”
As should the TVNZ staff that thought it a good idea to shove it before an audience. Indeed they should never be put near any sort of PSB role again.
We already had a near miss with Thompson’s bromancer at RNZ who is still milking the gravy train, but just when you think things can’t get worse …………..
Hardly surprising in a world where Taylor Swift is a university course. Crass misogyny enabled by neon clad lovlies drafting out the f-boys. Tvnz display a jaw dropping lack of class akin to cultural sabotage, has nothing to offer but this ‘look ma, no hands!’ type of drivel – sigh
Nauseating and crass but I can’t wait for the obvious follow on show where the 12 gentlemen sit around a fire with flares lighting the camp, and discuss and score the young ladies on their prowess or lack of. An HDPA is instant disqualification. Need a working title please. “Bread and Circuses” perhaps
Utterly appalling at every level. Hopefully there’s an opposition MP with the integrity and the common decency to call out the Minister over this. With the PM now embracing the catwalk like those egotistical minor Danish royals now being stripped of their titles, the politicians and their media groupies are undermining too many time-tested societal values.
Why we all have Sky
Sky? It’s the 21st century, everyone uses streaming platforms these days. Try to catch grand dad.
Lefties ridiculed the Moral Majority back in the 60s – 80s. Said they were old fuddy duddy kill joys lying about Lefties being sneaky degenerates and this was the thin edge of the wedge.
And here we are! At this rate of collapse in 2 to 5 years, mainstream TV after school programming will include ultra high definition dwarf fetish orgy porn.
moon-rekt. Note that Simon Power, exWestpac executive, is a former National Party politician and appears to have been a protege of John Key. He now serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Kings College, Auckland, which was, and may still be, a boys’ secondary school. Looks as if his own secondary school was the sort which Michael lavatory-seat Woodhouse attended, but in Palmerston North rather than Dunedin. No further comment, but I wouldn’t want my young offspring near him.
Does anyone even still watch broadcast TV? I know I don’t and neither does anyone in my family.
Sounds like someone at TVNZ has been getting inspiration from Viz comic character Roger Mellie.
Life imitating art?
Thank you for bringing this awful matter to attention.
Can you seek a comment from an appropriate authority within TVNZ?
I second that Tom
Tom+Gardner There may not be an appropriate authority within TVNZ. They may all be dirty old men like Simon Power. Gagarin rightly comments that TVNZ shows utter contempt for its audience, but they themselves are beneath contempt and almost certainly uncaring about what a corruptive influence they are. The buck stops with the Minister.
Enough is enough. It could be time for Christian mothers, or Muslim mothers, or grandmothers, to stand together against these purveyors of sleaze and send the whole lot packing.
Unbelievable crudity or should I say NZCrudeTV. I can’t put up what this makes me feel but if you look up Urban Dictionary on google they specialise in airing the latest argot.
eg gutter – Urban Dictionary
https://www.urbandictionary.com › define › term=gutter
If someone says your mind is “in the gutter,” they probably mean that you constantly think about sex or sex-related things. Your mind is in the gutter.
(But this causes the enquiring mind to wonder why sex should be such a bad thing to think about that it is equivalent to being in the gutter? Maybe our attitudes in society are reprehensible in this matter and this television crowd in NZ have warped attitudes embedded in their minds which underpin their choice of television to broadcast and spread to the rest of us. I have bought a book on the Marquis de Sades letters from prison which I will dip into, might provide some answers – he was supposed to be very evil.
A weirdly destructive society, these ‘hip’ young hedonists are constructing while at the same time destructing our society’s residual values and restraints. Restraint, I think, is going to be one of the most powerfully important words in any ‘good’ society observed from now into whatever future is left for sweet human civilisation, turning sour without it.))
This from The Washington Post in 1992 on moves by authority in the USA to limit Howard Stern who is apparently really bad at unleashing scabrous, salacious language. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1992/11/30/keeping-gutter-language-where-it-belongs/b346cbac-2ddf-45aa-8cd7-dcdcb331139a/
…However frivolous Stern may be, these questions arising from his case are anything but. Like it or not, a strong argument can be made that the obscene and scatological language to which listeners of KLSX are routinely subjected has become, in recent years, the language of America. Of late, a fair amount of attention has been paid to the debasement of American culture in everything from the depiction and exploitation of sexuality to the degradation of women in rap music, but the pervasive presence of offensive language has has been given rather less attention.
The climate has changed so rapidly that the very phrase “offensive language” seems to have acquired a certain priggish quality, suggesting that the person employing it is somehow too prissy to immerse himself in the exhilarating muck and mire of American earthiness. When the Baltimore Sun reprinted a story from the Chicago Tribune last week under the headline, “More conversations are peppered with salty talk,” my immediate reaction was, ” ‘Salty talk,’ indeed! I haven’t heard that one since the days of the Legion of Decency!”
But whatever you call it — offensive, salty, obscene, bawdy, scatological, lewd — it is literally everywhere. “There is a widespread feeling in America that language is going to heck, to put it politely,” as the Tribune story said, and the evidence of it is everywhere. The two most notorious words in the American language, one obscene and one scatological, have come out of the closet and into the arena.
Thus it is that bumper stickers and T-shirts routinely announce, “{Expletive} happens.” Wander through a shopping mall and the odds are good you’ll overhear a mother telling her young children to “shut the {expletive} up” or a group of teenagers talking, at richly amplified volume, in language that positively drips with tried and true obscene and scatological terms and just about every variation thereof you can imagine, not to mention others you can’t.
This fits neatly into the values-free approach of Twitter and child sex pornography. It’s all connected in so many ways.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/475865/brands-blast-twitter-for-ads-next-to-child-pornography-accounts
Some major advertisers have pulled their ads from parts of Twitter because their promotions appeared alongside tweets soliciting child sex-abuse material.
Dyson, Mazda, Forbes and PBS Kids were among the companies that suspended their marketing campaigns or removed their ads from the social media website because of the problem, the companies told Reuters.
DIRECTV and Thoughtworks also told Reuters they had paused their advertising on Twitter.
Brands ranging from Walt Disney Co, NBCUniversal and Coca-Cola to a children’s hospital were among more than 30 advertisers that appeared on the profile pages of Twitter accounts peddling links to the exploitative material, according to a Reuters review of accounts identified in new research about child sex abuse online from cybersecurity group Ghost Data.
Hey, how about FBoy Island Roulette….where one of the ladies hails from the transgender community.
Unbelievable!
Like something out of a 1960s dystopian Sci Fi thriller by Anthony Burgess or somebody like that. In the distant future, the year 2022, when all proper standards of behaviour have fallen by the wayside, the favourite TV programme of Alex and the Droogs will be FBoy Island …
Haven’t heard of the term before.
Does it mean we can call it FTV then?
Wonder what it’s ratings will be. Any guesses,?
