We are still battling covid with its numerous emerging variants, but we also have a concern in NZ over measles…

It’s a like a Winter of Discontent but worse.
Add to this the economic shockwave looming in the Northern Winter as Putin turns off gas to Europe and we have the perfect storm of perfect storms.

Gloom and doom merchants–is that all we are now? Better should be expected from The Daily Blog as to organising campaigns to do something about already existing and newly approaching shit storms of various kinds.
Yes, much of the community is just a rabble of individualists thanks to the 40 year assault on collective thought and norms begun by the first Rogernomics Govt. of 1984. But the first COVID lockdown showed what many NZers are capable of with some leadership. For a couple of glorious months public health was put before private profit. Over 90% voted in favour of vaccination with their arms.
Positive opportunities should be taken in every street, suburb, town and city. Unions need to transform the wretched NZCTU back to a fighting class left organisation that can butt heads with the Labour Caucus or any other Govt. Threaten strategic strikes and Climate Strikes until a basic income paid out by IRD to all citizens is established and the rest of the pro working class list that Bomber regularly publishes such as free dental and fare free public transport etc.
It is time to organise and fight back on an anti capitalist basis, not cower in the blogosphere. Yes, there are sections of NZ that would attack working class people before they would ever take on the employing class–as evidenced by the 24/7 middle class whingers during COVID but tough shit for them when their empty extra houses start getting occupied!
Tiger, I think you might be jumping the shark if you really think that 90% of New Zealanders happily lined up to get jabbed. Have a look at the booster rates to perhaps temper your assertion that all of those 90% were willing. There was a massive amount of pressure applied by Jacinda’s government to effectively force compliance. I’d wager that at least a third of those who begrudgingly accepted the jab would not have if Jacinda had actually stuck to her words from 2020 and not made it mandatory.
Also, nothing in this life is free. Public transport, dentistry, healthcare, etc. all cost NZ as a country so what are you willing to forgo to pay for it all? I’ll start with a suggestion, slash super by means testing it. If a Boomer has more than a million in assists, no Super for them. Whilst we’re there, let’s do the same with healthcare. Once you’re 65, no FREE healthcare if you’ve over a million in assets. Just watch those houses get sold…
IF he cuts off the gas….IF……these are countries who are trying to topple him, who imposed the harshed sanctions probably ever seen, and who finance-support a war on Russias door step, against Russia……………I’m surprised Russia hasn’t cut them off yet. Russia probably only sold Gas/Oil to Europe (rather than to easier other markets) to try and keep the peace, that Russia now knows beyond any reasonable doubt, that NATO/USA clearly don’t want.
Imagine if China or Russia was doing all this in Mexico………….
I guess the pipe lines etc to India and China, who will happily buy ALL that Russia want to sell, aren’t complete just yet.
The west (controlled by America) have well and truly shot themselves in the foot and ONLY have themselves to blame.
This does NOT mean Putin is a good guy. It just means Russia is reacting to an immense amount of provication that America/NATO created (since approx 1992 ish) and we know America would not accept a mere fraction of what Russia have allowed-put up with.
The end of the USA empire is happening before our eyes.
You wish, the more sure word of prophecy tells us that they are on the wrong side but most of the world is going to join them in the final destruction.
