Another horrific and sad story – perhaps instead of allowing these sham marriages and encouraging horrendous people to become NZ residents, the government should tighten up immigration laws so that people who become NZ residents via marriages have to have their marriage last for 10 years, have a spotless record of character … and teenage brides can’t sponsor others into NZ.
There is already considerable abuse within NZ, and taking resources away to help more and more new cases that seem to be keen to settle in NZ makes everything worse for existing NZ society.
Why is NZ so keen and blind for abusers and controlling people to settle in NZ and become NZ citizens – where is the person of good character clause being used that used to be a requirement for NZ citizenship and residency – we seem to be giving exceptions to the worst people to stay in NZ and tolerate very poor behaviour against others here.
14 years of torture: Wife’s murder at hands of jealous, angry husband Riki Nath

“Sherine was just 17 when she met Nath, who had come to Auckland from Fiji.
He “was wanting to get married in order to gain residency in New Zealand” and his aunt introduced him to Sherine.
They married soon after and Sherine became isolated from her family, who did not approve of the union or like Nath’s family.”
Instead of more resources to help more and more people of poor character settle in NZ, it would be easier to stem demand by removing the incentives for controlling or abusive migrants to come to NZ and gain NZ citizenship and residency.
There are plenty of migrants of good character who want to become NZ citizens and residents – maybe the rise of social bonds and businesses is very keen to expand their businesses (and quasi charities) in this space and horribly making money out of misery and social dysfunction.

Instead of having zero tolerance to violence towards others, NZ law seem to be to encourage people of poor character to stay in NZ and continue to victimise others while taking resources from existing NZ abusers/victims that seems to be getting worse.
This tendency to be soft on abusers and killers in NZ is part of the individualistic and punitive style of society that authority here has adopted. Short sentences, no attempt to deal with repeat offenders, actually wiping three strikes because it was unreasonable through bad targeting and drafting, should have been changed not wiped. There is no care or compassion for ordinary people preyed on by mentally warped types. NZ is not a nice place, surface appearance only and government acts when embarrassment level is too high, or when there is some monetary or publicity advantage, probably calculated economically on a marginal basis.
“Anyone with the luxury to fret about microaggressions in a world riven by macroaggressions is privileged. Anyone with the liberty to assign himself idiosyncratic pronouns, oblige others to adopt them, and punish those who do not comply knows a good deal of privilege. Everyone who has never had his city shelled; never been forcibly displaced from his home; never had to take up arms to defend his life against an invading army is, as current events make plain, tremendously privileged.
It is an especially blinkered and self-absorbed individual who fails to appreciate as much; the sort of person who petulantly demands that his views not only be heard but validated. (Another privilege retained by those who stridently lament their lack of it: the license to expunge from history those deemed to be on the wrong side of it. The power to rewrite the past and the rules of grammar with it!”

Amazing how, when someone pops their clogs, people clamour to cash in on their saddle straps.
I’ve just had to listen to Leith Comer pay his tributes on RNZ Checkpoint.
WHAT a fucking wanker! It’s a shame Leith didn’t actually learn a bloody thing from a man he now praises.
Let the man lay in peace. Leith – you’ll NEVER be half the specimen you now pretend to praise. Your lack of mana precedes you.
Ew!!!!! Take your undeserved colonial rewards and your dial-a-bride please, and fuck off into oblivion. You’re not fooling anyone but yourself other than shitting on the memory of someone half decent – decent despite his politics
Ew!!!! Ew !!!!! EW!

utting New Zealand’s own history of the centre of the country’s schooling is is the sign of a mature society and will help address inequities, educators say.
How many educators? And just who are these people in our 5 million? And are they going to wash all the dirty linen out again and again each year the same. I hope it all isn’t to be negative. There are bad and good things that need to be remembered. If it is all bad, then the youngsters could end up feeling its normalised and carry on with the history. I remember one usa trial showing bad treatment of black people in a film and the result was the white kids felt they must have deserved that treatment, and it had been condoned at the time because it was right.
