Will Vaccination Passports be the straw that breaks Labour’s back?

There has been 4 different dates as to when we can get our vaccination passports.

First it was mid November.

Then it was the end of November.

Then it was early December.

Now it’s back to mid November but I’m guessing that will become end of November.

The system already looks buggered.

Many, many, many New Zealanders don’t have a drivers license or passport so they will have to apply elsewhere which of course will see people not get their passports despite having been in de facto house arrest for what will be 4 months.

If the Government fuck up the vaccination passports, anxious people desperate to get their life back are going to lose their shit.

This could be the straw that breaks Labour’s back.

  1. As it stands today, the passport idea is a clusterfuck!

    Will we Aucklander’s seriously have to pass through some kind of Checkpoint Charlie to leave our own East Berlin? Seriously??

    At the mythical 90% vax rate, is it even worth all the mad bureaucracy?

    Can the police afford to have staff eternally manning checkpoints checking identity passes?

    Who really knows? But Burkina Faso, that beacon of democracy, has had one for a while now. Perhaps these turkeys also known as our Ministers of the Crown could ask them how?

      • North Korea; limited freedom of movement, limited goods to buy, near zero opportunities unless you are in the party, house arrest, no freedom of association, identity documentation requirements, fuck all to do and pure unadulterated bullshit from the ruling party and leader who think their citizens are imbeciles, done through party political broadcasts.

  2. Dunno. Rational thought would say yes however Covid cultists don’t really care as long as they can get their groceries and spy on their neighbour’s kids having parties.

    The more we progress I believe the real issues that will sink this government will be ‘meat and potatoes’ issues such as housing, education and the economy etc when the mist clears in 6 months.

    • I would say the government would welcome this. Last year proved lockdowns are far from the economic death knell that some were screaming they were. If National is your answer for the housing problem, then that’s purely faith based as they did nothing but grin as house prices skyrocketed under Key. And the two major parties are cooperating on the major policy, so it’s only minor things they’ll be quibbling about. Education…..I couldn’t honestly tell you what either party’s policies are, so who knows. ‍♀️

  3. Might be time for a break from online posting and living for quite a few people-but the arseholes like Hosking/Soper & all the rest never sleep (booze & coke) so I guess we can’t go MIA either.

    The new gen voters will need to decide pretty quickly whether they are into rolling back the NZ neo liberal state-because not much will change until there is a movement supporting that.

    It’s a fucking bale of straw at this point.

    The NZ policy/law around Covid-19 response is about 6-8 months behind the research. Had our advisors kept up to date with the latest research, we would have stopped this pointless vaccination program months ago, opened up, implemented the field tested early treatment regimen, and moved on with life.

    Instead I’m worried that NZ will lose political stability and about the hidden damage I already know is in the background.

      • David Parker would be an excellent choice and he could sell NZ DNA off to his neoliberal buddies at the same time while giving the go ahead for a multimillion PPP (marketed obviously as something else) no questions asked business opportunity to run it. Maybe Xi or Peter Thiel might do it cheap, functional in 2030 to tie in with the increasing Carbon emissions this government created? Of course Maori will have their own vaccination passports and independent body, Harry Tam could organise it.

  7. Megan Woods is the most disappointing of all the Labour team. Her entire role has been to hose down expectations of good stuff Labour promised.
    Wierdly the shops are opening in Auckland next week for everyone BUT when we get our vaccine passports in mid November they will only be open to the double vaxxed

  8. Yep watch the assaults on small hospitality business, bars cafes etc increase over the coming months as they are forced to implement these regulations !

  9. Bert and thousands of others know vaccine limits the adverse effect of covid and so keeps hospitals less busy . Do your research from reliable information get vaccinated and earn your passport then you can come out and play or work your choice .

  11. Too funny reading all the rhetoric about how bad the government’s covid response is going. Anyone reading them would think we were doing terribly as a country. Interestingly, when you look at the facts they seem to tell a different story. How’s our hospitalisation comparing to others? How many deaths per capita from covid have we had? How many days of lockdown have we had compared to other countries? Hey, what’s our unemployment rate projected to be again?….

    Yeah, some countries are opening up quicker than us. So what if we open a few months after others? It’s not a race, and we don’t win a prize for coming first. What has a quicker opening cost other countries in terms of deaths, and what will it cost them medically from long covid in their population? We took time to evaluate the vaccines, and went for consistancy and simplicity in our response by opting to use pfizer for our whole population. Others grabbed whatever was going, and now have populations with pfizer, astrozenica, moderna etc. Now they have to monitor efficacy throughout their population across a range of vaccines. Do it once and do it properly, that is what NZ has done.

  13. Fuck the vaccine APP (sold as passport or certificate). It’s pure govt surveillance sold to idiot kiwis under “health” reasons.

    It will track you. Every shop you visit. Every protest you attend. Every anti govt meeting you attend, every political event you attend you and who you go with will record you. If you don’t use the App you’ll be excluded, or fined, or arrested.

    Jacinda is unleashing this on us. It’s been stopped in the UK so far as citizens are aware of the dangers and power it gives the government and its agencies.

    By you trust Jacinda, you trust the government agencies. What could go wrong?
