What?

Auckland to go Level 3 phase 2 during the 7th lunar cycle on even days?

Does an exhausted Auckland even know what Jacinda is talking about any longer?

We have been under house arrest for 12weeks, what does this latest announcement even mean?

I’m a news junkie and I have no idea what the fuck level 3 phase 2 is.

It feels like it’s another bullshit announcement made to make us feel like we are getting out of home detention early when we aren’t.

All. I. Fucking. Want. To. Know. Is. When. The. Fuck. I. Can. As. A. Double. Vaxxed. Aucklander. Get. My. Fucking. Life. Back!!!

Everything else is just white noise aimed at hiding when we are actually able to get our lives back.

  1. They put up a simple levels system so people could understand. It was a framework to base things on. Every day Ardern talks to the mass the crowd on Kiwiblog who hate her can’t not watch her. Then they can say she talks to us as if we’re babies.

If exhausted Aucklanders don’t know what Jacinda is talking about maybe they should go over to Kiwiblog, they’ll tell you. If she’s now saying stuff that’s not addressed to infants they’ll be on to kit. They know everything over there.

  2. Do I detect a slight hint that Jacinda, maybe actually, isn’t the Queen of Covid-19?

That despite all the desperate defences from the Left, she’s clueless holed up in Wellington whilst the world goes on, Auckland suffers, and Covid deaths continue to be far from the entire measure of success. Cue screams of neo-liberal, selfish, death capitalist, etc – but those screams are increasingly getting glazed eyes from ordinary voters in Auckland and around the country.

The last 10% of vaccination is going to be slow agony, then what – more traffic lights on Jacinda’s desperate map to nowhere and division?

The fear factory can only work so long, although the unvaccinated gave it another boost to refocus the anger and anxiety on (and away from the Govt).

  3. What a hamfisted amatuer Oscars award performance that was. And yet again, it’s what the shifty pricks aren’t saying.

Guess what Aucklanders, you’re stuck lockdown inside these Jacinda made borders for the foreseeable future. Can’t have ditry little Aucklanders ruining the team of 3.3 millions Covid free Christmas now can we? Or maybe if you have some “passport” to see your country you can join a hours long queue to venture through her borders to have the amazing privilege to leave!

Hipkins practically said it, Jacinda is fudging answers and the PM’S office is communicating in cypher code so you best believe they’ve got us insects trapped in the bottle until they tire of it, whenever that may or may not be.

If Ardern thinks for a nano second giving Aucklanders PM approved conditional shopping privileges will sate the beast, then think again Toots, you’re delusional. The cynicism of that bullshit was breath taking.

Anyway Jacinda, enjoy Christmas holidays tootling around, we in Auckland will not forget! I am fucking over this eternal lockdown and equally over this indecisive government!

  4. the govt have given up ‘let covid rip’ is the defacto policy look forward to a ‘british summer’ just like they are having under boris

  5. Shopping and bigger outside gatherings next week is what’s been offered.

Yep, it’s more than a bit shit for Aucklanders. Sounds like the government is taking a calculated risk on this step, pressing hard up against advice from Moh. In theory Auckland reachs 90% double vaxed on or around 13 Nov and if the government don’t have vax passports ready to go for you ….they are toast.

    Take a deep breath Martyn, have a bath, a wine….a joint. 😉

    • Look at it this way. With Aucklanders allowed conditional shopping privileges, GST receipts will sky-rocket. And although the government will love and needs the income generated, Aucklanders will still be forbidden from travelling outside the city walls.

I can’t help but think that was the MP for Wellington Central, Grant Robertson’s idea, start to finish.

  6. Auckland has had a gutsful of being treated like mushrooms, kept in the dark & being fed shit by Jacinda & her Public Health imbeciles like Bloomfield & the other doom & gloom, so called Experts on Pandemic modelling who know jack shit because all there predictions have come to nought! I don’t even bother watching Ardern’s announcements from her Wellington pulpit, I zoned out months ago, pissed off with this never ending lockdown & the lack of any coherent Plan from this incompetent bunch of morons running this Country! Her Orwellian gobbly gook, double speak lies have worn thin with everyone in Auckland & no one is abiding by Level 3 rules anymore? Just open up the goddamn Country up & let it rip like every other Country in the World, Covid is Nature’s way of weeding out the weak, sickly, stupid & ignorant, it’s survival of the fittest & if your not vaccinated, that’s on you, the whole bloody Country can’t be held hostage by lazy, useless dum assholes who refuse to get jabbed! What the Hell does Level 3, step 1, 2 or 3 mean anyway, no one knows or gives a fuck, Jacinda is just playing games with peoples businesses & lives & we are thoroughly sick of it! The current double vaccination rate in Auckland is 80%, why not bloody open up now, why do we have to wait until the rest of the damn Country hits 90% vax Target! How is waiting to achieve a extra 10% going to make a difference? I’m over it! Hopeless. This is what I do know, I won’t be voting for Labour again, next time around, they can all go to hell!

    • You don’t have to wait for the whole country to hit 90%, just your own 3 DHB’s.
Easy for me to say from the Naki but Jacinda will not dump on the low vaccinated predominately young Maori stragglers. I’m not saying she should, it sounds like you are though, and many many others. Should she just open up and let it rip through those communities?

    • KiwiAntz ,

You make a shitload of sweeping statements. Some have truth to them while others don’t reflect well on the author.

Auckland has been in lockdown for much longer than the experts anticipated but most people understand why that has been needed. The people that don’t understand are those expressing the most frustration. I’m grateful for the approach taken as it’s helped keep my friends and family above ground.

Coherent plan? There is one but it’s very difficult to make firm plans when the game is constantly changing. I understand the plan. The only thing I disagree with about it is the timing. I believe Ardern caved into pressure and went a month too soon. Your idea of what constitutes a coherent plan has no place in NZ. “Let it rip and fuck the consequences”. You do appreciate people are dead for a very long time? Have you made a list of everyone in your family you’re prepared to push off a cliff? You insult and disrespect millions of good folk that have died a horrendous death due to Covid. They are not “weak, sickly, stupid & ignorant”. They are human beings and part of a family. They didn’t deserve to die anymore than any of us do when we go to the local supermarket. Your claim that nobody is abiding by level 3 rules is bullshit. Everyone I know are respecting to rules. Those that aren’t are very likely the same folk that have never respected them from day 1. How’s your maths? The difference between 80% of the population being fully vaccinated when things are opened up and 90% amounts to many many lives. It also means more young people will get long Covid and our hospitals will quickly become overwhelmed. When that occurs, the shit hits the fan big time with a list of devastating implications and consequences. Why would anyone set up that dynamic when they can mitigate the situation by ensuring an extra an extra 10% of kiwi’s get vaccinated?

Do you live your life according to how your neighbours live theirs? Why should NZ follow the lead of other countries on how, why and when? What has been the death tolls in those countries up until now? How many are still dying there every day?

I’m sure Ardern will be devastated to learn you won’t be voting for Labour. Having said that, you don’t sound much like a Labour voter to me.

As for the vaccinated being held hostage by the unvaccinated. I believe you are 100% correct. I have also grown tired of the Ardern / Bloomfield tag team show but for different reasons to you.

As for your advice that Ardern leave the unvaccinated to face their own fate if they choose to remain unvaccinated. If you read between the lines, you will see that is exactly what she’s doing now. She’s effectively saying, “you have x amount of days to get vaccinated and then you’re on your own”.

That is a plenty good enough coherent plan to my eye.

      • She’s effectively saying, “you have x amount of days to get vaccinated and then you’re on your own”.

She should say this but she’s not. She’s allowing the hesitant and anti-vaxxers to hold Aucklanders to ransom in order to get to 90%. People in small businesses in particular are very damaged now, in both their physical and mental health. Jacinda is trading off these people’s health for the morons that won’t get vaccinated. This is no longer fair or reasonable.

Throw the morons to the wolves but please let us out NOW!

      • I honestly don’t think they will be much movement Bertie.

Covid cultists still make up a large portion of voters and the only movement they will make will be to the Greens. Act might overtake National and Winston might poke his head above 5% (due to anti vaxxers) however don’t take it for a granted that a lot of people necessarily hate that Auckland is locked down.

        • Yes it will be interesting to see if the frustration being voiced online shows in the polls.
It’s certainly evident on this blog that a bunch of Auckland lefties are pretty fed up, does it equal votes though?
I wonder how berts hangover is this morning.

  7. Does an exhausted Jacinda even know where Auckland is any more?

Today was yet another pointless talk feast that told us fuck all, leav3s us still in lockdown with no clear time line or apparent plan out of it.

That she can’t even bother to come up here and hear the stories of those suffering first hand says so much about her leadership or rather, complete absence of leadership.

She needs to front and lead – it looks more and more like she has bottled it and is running scared.

    • I am tempted to send her a postcard of the Harbour Bridge just to jog her memory of that city she may have heard of, you know, the one in the north somewhere! Love from the abandoned team of 1.7 million!

    • What is the point in harping on about Jacinda not going to Auckland. What good would it do? You want a Jacinda stand up in the Aotea square so you can through eggs at her?

      • Because of she had to live this day in day out and still made the same decisions I’d respect that. But if she was here you can best believe the same shit decisions orchestrated by the non Auckland ministers would not happen.

And hence her standing as a leader, to me, is now rock bottom.

  8. Me thinks Idiot Savant sums it up best when it comes to the current Labour party and its relationship with the bureaucracy:
“spin and PR and funny accounting. Not the honest, ambitious government we hoped for and need. We deserve better than this. ”
I certainly thought they had better smarts but apparently not. The only thing in their favour is that the alternative is worse. But what a wasted opportunity its been and Labour doesn’t deserve what they’ve been given. Rest assured it’s not going to happen again in ’23 as far as I can tell
It’ll all fix itself however in the fullness of time in this space going forward – probably when there is no need for bullshit detectors when they come to realise the electorate eventually comes to see through it all. (Unfortunately it often takes a while).
Clearly at the moment most Labour party munsters, and indeed the PM’s detectors are on the fritz.

On the back of it all, no doubt there’ll be learnings to be had. They should probably just get their fundamentals in order if they want a soft landing because the alternative isn’t very pretty.

  9. Lets remind ourselves that Adern is our prime minister and having said lets remind ourselves that Adern isn’t here for us. She’s ultimately not here for us, but instead for the ‘Them’s’. I mean, look around? It all speaks for itself doesn’t it?
And who are the ‘Them’s ? Well, I can tell you, Mr and Mrs, and all the permutations of all those permutations, it aint the ‘Us’s ‘.
We’d be living in a fantasy where the fantasy’s a bit shit. Not your Unicorn saves an Elf from being drowned in ginger ale kind of fantasy. Oh no. More like a powerful liar breed skulking inside rnz, the msm generally and within the comments section of media such as this. Poisoning and subverting. Lean closer to your screen? Now sniff…!? There! You smell that? That, is the stink of Machiavellian bullshit.
If Adern was truthful, or more correct perhaps, if she was ABLE to be truthful, I wouldn’t be here writing and our world would be a different place.
Since we’re no longer a social-ist democracy but are now a capitalist democracy all anyone needs to do to make sense of being locked down in Auckland for 12 weeks is to follow the money. Who has it, how did they get it, and where is it now?

  10. Moan whinge we are sick’n tired of the 4 level lockdown system – we want a change.
Another system is brought in – moan whinge we want a change.
Deaths from COVID skyrocket – moan whinge why did the government give us what we wanted?

    • Correct MTL. When the shit hits the fan, oh boy, all the whingers will be on overtime rates then. This is the calm before the storm. Getting the Vax rate up a high as possible before “opening up” and “let it rip” is the only option. The projected carnage of sickness and death should satisfy those with a careless bent.

  11. R u missing your latte ?
There’s no lattes when you’re dead.
And if you’re tired of seeing four walls
    Then you’ll really hate a casket 🙂
    If you really want. your.life.back
you can’t have it when. you’re.dead
So you’re double vaxed good on you
You can still kill someone else

    ( apologies to t ngata)

  12. This is terrible. The coming economic fall out is going to kill people over time.
We need to stop only focusing only covid..

  13. You know, the nearer the destination the more you’re slip sliding away. (Paul Simon)
In my country of origin they got ‘their lives back’ a while ago. Today the government will have a press conference to reintroduce measures so the infection and hospitalisation numbers can be brought down.
Jacinda: dammed if she does, dammed if she doesn’t.

    • That’s what happens when you endlessly lock down a country but don’t do anything to prepare in the time bought by the sacrifices of everyone who isn’t government, a government worker or retiree or beneficiary (or a big business).

  14. Level 3 phase 2, amber light, then red, green south of the border, and yellow Level 2.2 north east of Level 1.

    Got it!

It is not about marketing confusion tactics that are now a meaningless turn off.

  15. Matryn you know if we’d had passports ready this holding pattern would be largely redundant. Given that just before this outbreak we were being assured that such a step was viewed as a non-starter – that was a quaint notion which made sense when we were COVID-free, and the government imperious in its presumption it could eliminate Delta.

One wonders where’d we be right now if Labour had used the time we, the people, bought them to sort their shit out in regards to vaccinations.
