Donald Trump triumphs over Covid-19
On the US President Donald Trump’s return to the Whitehouse and return to business as usual.
A little publicised fact of the medical treatment that Donald Trump received, was that it was provided free, courtesy of the US taxpayer,
Under US law the taxpayer provides free medical care for all armed servicemembers on active duty, and their families. As Commander in Chief of the US armed forces, this publicly provided free health care is also extended to Donald Trump and his family. (not a bad deal for a guy who paid only $750 in taxes.)
After his brush with Covid-19, Donald Trump said, I get it.
“I get it and I understand it,” he said.
From his exalted and glittering position of wealth and privilege at the top of society, can Donald Trump really ‘get it’? Can this billionaire developer and casino owner, really get what it means to be sick in America for the tens of millions of Americans without health insurance or free medical that active armed servicemembers an Presidents get?
What about Joe Biden, does he get it?
When Donald Trump got sick he had:
9. specialist Doctors in attendance.
1. Hugely expensive and experimental monal clonal anti-body treatment derived from the blood of Covid-19 survivors.
A cocktail of anti-viral drugs.
All provided free of charge.
Any other American in the same age range with the same morbidities as President Trump, who catches this virus, is unlikely to receive the same level of care and treatment.
And they definitely will not receive that medical care free of charge.
On Wednesday, two days before he was admitted to hospital, Donald Trump was throwing’>tossing MAGA hats into a crowd.
Did anyone who caught a hat put it straight on their head?
From Donald Trump’s hands to their scalp, and at a time when President Trump was likely to be highly infectious
What if they got sick?
What about the many low income Americans who attend President Trump’s rallies without masks or social distancing, believing in Trump’s rhetoric that this virus is no worse than the flu?
Donald Trump says that he is looking forward to the next Presidential debate, promising his supporters it will be a great one.
If he doesn’t chicken out of it, In the debate, will Joe Biden ask “Mr President, if you claim that the virus is no worse then the flu, can you give a guarantee here tonight that you will issue an executive order that every American especially poorer Americans, who catch this virus, will receive the free medical care that you got?”
Specifically, Will Joe Biden directly challenge President Trump to issue an executive order that all Americans who catch the novel corona virus Sars Cov-2, receive the free medical care that he got?
He won’t, and everyone knows it.
Unlike Donald Trump, Joe Biden wears masks in public, in public Donald Trumps disdainfully stuffs his mask in his pocket. Joe Biden avoids crowds, where Donald Trump embraces them. Joe Biden practices good social distancing, where Donald Trump is notoriously touchy feely, it’s the kinda a guy I am, he likes to say..
Unlike Donald Trump, Joe Biden does his very best to make sure he personally doesn’t catch the virus.
But what about the rest of the American population during the pandemic?
What about the workers putting it out there and getting sick everyday?
Joe Biden has always stood for inequality in health care outcomes, Joe Biden has always been opposed universal free public health care for Americans regardless of income. Joe Biden is on the record for saying that if he was President of the US and a bill for free universal public health care crossed his desk, he would use his power as President to ‘Veto it”.
Grim reality and unequal outcomes, or happy fantasy, what would you choose?
As Donald Trump strides up to the debating lectern, looking the picture of health, his victory in the debate and the election is almost guaranteed.
TV reality star Donald Trump knows it is all about the optics.
For the average American voter seeing Joe Biden on their TVs up on stage cowering behind a perspex screen and wearing a mask.
For the average American witnessing Joe Biden’s grim lack of empathy and vision, to receiving Donald Trump’s alluring happy message, that covid-.19 is no worse than the flu,
For the average American comparing Joe Biden’s obsessive care to not catch the virus himself to Trump’s cavalier devil may care attitude and behaviour toward the virus,
Donald Trump is saying to the American people that their President is putting himself out there, taking my chances just like everyone else, Just like you.
Donald Trump’s populist faux egalitarianism, compared to Joe Biden’s patent rich guy me first, I won’t catch it, behaviour, is why Joe Biden will lose to Donald Trump.
Joe Biden will lose to Donald Trump in the debate. Joe Biden will lose to Donald Trump in the election. Fair means or foul, Donald Trump will win, fair means or foul he will make sure of it, it is the kinda guy he is.
Joe Biden and the Democrats deserve everything they’re going to get. When Joe Biden and the DMC bleat that the election was stolen from them, few will have any sympathy for them.

Nothing about Joe Biden says that he wants to win this election, or even that he enjoys running for prez. Why is he there? Sometimes I wonder if someone has a gun to his head (figuratively speaking only), making him do this. Because, that is what he projects. He walks and talks like a robot, his energy levels seem to be in the negative (I would not ever want to be near him as he seems to suck energy out of his environment). His eyes look deadened. Zero enthusiasm… for anything.
US politics make no sense to me at all, at the moment. Of all the millions of people that make up the population, that zombie-ish character is the best they could find? Nothing makes sense.
And then, of course, to have a sociopathic maniac as their current president.
Here in Aotearoa, for all that we grumble we truly “don’t know how lucky we are”.
The American catastrophe has been decades in the making, and it will make no significant difference who -the madman or the piece of furniture- gets elected as POTUS: when you are coyote and you’re off the cliff and peddling air there’s only one possible outcome.
‘Hard rain is going to fall

The status quo is about to discover that it can’t stop the hard rain or protect its fragile sandcastles.
You’ll recognize A Hard Rain Is Going to Fall as a cleaned-up rendition of Bob Dylan’s classic “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall”. Since the world had just avoided a nuclear conflict in the Cuban Missile Crisis, commentators reckoned Dylan was referencing a nuclear rain. But he denied this connection in a radio interview, stating: “…it’s just a hard rain. It isn’t the fallout rain. I mean some sort of end that’s just gotta happen….” ( Source)
Which brings us to the present and America’s dependence on the sandcastles of monopoly, corruption, free money and a two-tier legal/political system. You know, BAU–business as usual. A hard rain’s a-gonna fall on these sand castles because, well, the end of unsustainable stuff has just gotta happen, as the man said.
Here’s the problem with monopoly, corruption, free money and a two-tier legal/political system: they impoverish and diminish everyone who isn’t an insider or in the top 10% Protected Class, as these are institutionalized forms of legalized looting: monopolies and cartels raise costs by smothering competition, corruption is a hidden tax on everyone not at the feeding trough, free money devalues the dollar, robbing everyone forced to use it, and a two-tier legal system enriches the few (corporate criminals never go to prison) and undermines the social contract via blatant unfairness and lack of justice.
As for the two-tier political system: monopoly, corruption and Fed free money have undermined democracy. Regardless of who wins the election, lobbyists and billionaires will still dominate the day-to-day business of political pay-to-play.
By enriching and protecting the few at the expense of the many, America’s business as usual has eroded the social contract and trust in institutions and authority. When everybody’s on the take and has an insider skim, then denying a conflict of interest simply confirms the ubiquity of conflicts of interest.
The pendulum has swung to such extremes of unfairness, corruption and inequality that the swing back will be monumental in scale and duration.
Another reason a hard rain’s gonna fall is America’s core institutions have been obsolete for years or decades, but those feeding at the trough refuse to allow any change that threatens their place at the trough.
Peter Drucker explained how tectonic shifts in the economic order obsoletes entire sectors in his 1993 book Post-Capitalist Society. Drucker mentions higher education and healthcare as sectors ripe for the plow, yet these politically sacrosanct sectors have ground on unchanged for decades, vacuuming up trillions in borrowed money to keep from being obsoleted.
Despite the best efforts of self-serving insiders, sand castles still melt in a hard rain. Speaking of sand castles, consider the vast number of sectors teetering on massive excess capacity: commercial real estate, retail space, restaurants, etc. Two generations ago, going to a restaurant–even a fast-food outlet–was a rare event. Since then, it somehow became a birthright to eat out once or twice a day.
A hard rain’s a-gonna fall on over-capacity and debt-dependent spending. Free money for financiers constructed a fragile sandcastle of too much of everything but actual value, so now the status quo frantically seeks to protect every melting sandcastle of over-capacity.
The status quo is about to discover that it can’t stop the hard rain or protect its fragile sandcastles. Whatever piles of sand are left after the rain will be swept away by the karmic tide as the pendulum swings back: the way of the Tao is reversal.’
