Māori Must Move To Level 4 – The Maori Party

Māori must move to Level 4 Lockdown and the borders must be closed for the next 14 days – even to overseas whānau wanting to return home – to ensure proper border control.

That’s the call from the Māori Party who are calling on Māori to unite to protect our whakapapa from Covid.

Co-Leader’s John Tamihere and Debbie Ngarewa-Packer said Māori had been forced to take this extraordinary step because this should have been announced on Tuesday.

“Level 4 lockdown for at least 14 days should have been made by the Prime Minister when she announced the new community outbreak,” Tamihere said.

“We also cannot allow returning Kiwis home – including our whānau – until health officials get on top of this this community outbreak. Iwi Health Check points are now re-established.”

The September 19 General Election must be delayed until next year.

“We all want to be part of the team of 5 million,” Tamihere said. “Therefore the election must be put back to 2021. Only then can we be non-challenging and trusting of the present leadership of the country. It must be leadership of the 5 million, not control by one party.

“When you are in election mode you must question, challenge and be suspicious and at times oppositional. That is why the election must be pushed back.”

Tamihere said Ardern must form a Wartime Cabinet – a Cabinet of National Unity – and reach out to Opposition parties.

  1. Maori should demand Ministry of Health use the more accurate “serology test that is 99.8% accurate as the commonly used PCR (swab test) is only 80% accurate so protect your people better.

Watch what this Kiwi Professor in Melbourne says about that.

We need to listen to what the Kiwi Scientist Professor Tony Blakely said to TVNZ anchor Jack Tame who interviewed Professor Tony Blakely a scientist at Melbourne University about how best could NZ fight the new outbreak of Covid 19 this last week.

During the interview, Professor Blakely stated clearly that all who are in contact with our borders, including the Ports must be tested fully for present infections with the PCR (swab test) and if the infection was over two weeks ago, he recommends testing with the serology antibody test for finding any past infections after two weeks.

Dr Blakely reminded Jack Tame that the PCR (Swab test) was not “perfect” and 20% failed to be accurate, showing false negative results after two weeks out from infection. This was Dr Blakely’s reason for recommending the serology antibody test as well was to have complete accurate results.
Ministry of Health clearly should be doing this now or we risk the case that we do not have adequate data to understand ‘how and why’ the latest community Covid cluster has emerged this week, so they are concentrating at the cold store site where containers are transported by trucks,

  2. Sounds like a desperate Party who are getting no traction with policy and must make more outrageous claims to validate their existence.

    • Pope Punctilious II: “Cripes, even viruses are racist these days.”

Oh that clever little virus: able to distinguish ethnicity and skin colour! Who knew?

The last outbreak of coronavirus here earlier in the year, left Maori and Pacific people disproportionately unaffected. That was because the infections came in from overseas with returning travellers, most of whom weren’t Maori or Pacific people.

This time it’s different, by the looks of things.

  3. “The September 19 General Election must be delayed until next year.”

    Overtaken by Events.

This comes across as a last-gasp statement from an utterly irrelevant political party, which has minuscule voter support. Of which fact the leadership is well aware.
