Auckland university is where the Venod Skantha the Malaysian doctor studied, whose just been convicted or murdering the teenager Amber-Rose Rush. So I guess we are getting the logical outcomes of greed, money and poor stewardship coming through as they don’t pick up obvious issues with their students who later go on to kill, ‘touch up’ teens, arrive to work at hospitals drunk, lie about their dead mother who is alive to cover their tracks….

BTW – like ‘woke’ Massey university chancellor, that bans former NZ MP’s from speaking, and feminism conferences for health and safety reasons, we have another Aussie import to run Auckland university. Likewise we now had an undiscovered dead body for a month, turning up in a student hall under Professor Cheryl de la Rey from South Africa, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canterbury.
Our education system so broken and locals so discriminated against, that they can’t find enough local’s (who are greedy and complacent enough) and to run NZ universities…
Judging by the worsening headlines from the universities, not sure that NZ’s reputation is improving under the neoliberal imports running NZ universities, who go from one extreme to the other and have no understanding of the culture here or it’s significance on education. (Why worry when it’s about international bums on seats for another ‘international business’ degree, more cash for resident halls run by multinationals and the 3 year residency in NZ with the students relatives also being able to come into NZ as well.)
I had the same knee jerk reaction to the $5 million house purchase. But on reflection, I remember people saying they can’t find a place to live in in Auckland. It is being rented, and is part of the infrastructure of the university, and its value will always remain because of its location and also it looks pre-leaky homes built so is likely to remain sound and a good investment. The sort of excellence that the Uni is looking for to maintain its place in world rankings needs something better than a villa a couple of hours drive away from work. So ease off on that. If you worry too much you will burst a foo-foo valve. And there will be many outrageous things arising before 19.\/9!
I am wondering if there are 500 people willing to sign up and pay to start a new alternative political party – the RAH Party (Ridiculous and Humorous) that will have regular meetings for discussing matters like how to produce living useful baby ideas out of hats that seem like sinkholes of scum. And gather the best satirical comedians for some convivial afters, after the discussion about what emergency measures the citizens have been able to successfully pull off from the accumulated attacks of the unthinking and the capital-accreting cult, and the affect of the 3xIs – Indolence, Inertia and Intransigence. We have to have a laugh sometimes to keep our mental health fresh and perky! Anyone for the RAH Party? I think it’s time has come.
It would have elements of – McGillicuddy Serious Party 1983–1999 A joke party intended to satirise politics in general. Among other deliberately absurd policies it advocated the “Great Leap Backwards”, a project to reverse the industrial revolution and to re-establish a medieval way of life.

Why do you close comments on frontpage posts? I remember a dairy so freaked by shoplifters they only allowed you to go down a narrow corridor to the front counter. Our strength is proof from free exchange and the decision of the people for better, hopefully.
