Cindy Sheehan & Helen Steel are Left wing heroes.
Cindy was the ‘Peace Mum’ who protested outside the White House during Bush’s deeply flawed Iraq invasion after she was radicalised when her son was killed in the war. She was instrumental in leading the anti-war movement in America and stood for vice-president in the 2012 presidential election campaign on the ticket of the eco-socialist, feminist and pro-peace, Peace and Freedom Party.
Helen Steel was one of the defendants in the infamous McLibel case against McDonald’s which set the benchmark for corporate power over free speech. She is an icon as an environmentalist and anti-capitalism activist. She was involved in the despicable ‘Spycops’ scandal where British Intelligence infiltrated protest groups, fathered children with prominent activists and handed information over to spies the whole time.
As I stated, both women are Left wing heroes for their commitment to our cause.
Except that now,Cindy Sheehan & Helen Steel have both been deplatformed and cancelled by the Woke…
The new misogyny targets Cindy Sheehan and Helen Steel
We are experiencing a rise in the boldness of misogyny on the left, legitimised by the infiltration of our movements by trans rights activism. Long-time left-wing women activists have experienced ostracism and deplatforming from progressive movements for speaking openly in defence of women’s rights to single-sex spaces, and in opposition to self-identification of sex.
…we know that the Wellington Twitteratti operate blacklists on secret Facebook pages naming anyone who has breached woke mantra (those screenshots will be embarrassing if released before the election), but the recent wins of censorship at Massey University and the Pride Parade abortion seem to have emboldened woke theology to new heights of dangerously alienating self importance.
I know where the Feminism Conference that Massey banned will be held in Wellington this month and when the venue is announced, the Woke are going to go into total meltdown. My fear is that this anti-free speech Identity Politics madness only empowers ACT and middle New Zealand will recoil from it and risk the Greens sinking below the 5% threshold.
My hope is that some semblance of reason will calm the Wellington Woke down and they will accept the new venue and accept that free speech means that sometimes people will say things you don’t like. I mean, you can protest all you like, that is your right, but you can’t actually shut it down, because that’s censorship.
My hope is that the Wellington Woke accept this.
My fear is that the Wellington Woke will go feral once the venue is made public and will do all they can to shut it down and cancel it.
Here’s the political problem with that.
Once the venue is made public, every other New Zealander, regardless of being left wing or right wing or no wing will see the importance of the event being allowed to continue, so sacred is the ground on which the conference will be held.
If the Woke attempt to cancel this conference on hallowed ground, then every other New Zealander who respects and cherishes our Democracy will be compelled to fly, drive, walk to Wellington and stand between the Woke and the venue.
There is a point where this madness implodes. This month could well be that point.

Important to say this Bomber. The move to stop women defending their rights as biological women, is happening in the UK and the US with bizarre claims. Mentioning female body parts is part of what is labelled unacceptable, even illegal. In the Canadian case where a trans male took 6 women to court for refusing to shave his pubic hair (a difficult task) he claimed to have a “female penis”. It is important to support those trans folk who suffer indignity, prejudice and violence, but never in a way that undermines the oppression of women like the ‘woke’ activists are doing.
An interesting piece on the feral protest at the Women’s Place UK fringe meeting at the British Labour Party conference a few weeks ago. https://rdln.wordpress.com/2019/10/08/transgender-extremism-at-british-labour-party-conference/
https://www.bloomsbury.com/us/the-madness-of-crowds-9781635579987/ A must to read Bomber if you haven’t already. In his devastating new book The Madness of Crowds, Douglas Murray examines the twenty-first century’s most divisive issues: sexuality, gender, technology and race. He reveals the astonishing new culture wars playing out in our workplaces, universities, schools and homes in the names of social justice, identity politics and intersectionality.
We are living through a postmodern era in which the grand narratives of religion and political ideology have collapsed. In their place have emerged a crusading desire to right perceived wrongs and a weaponization of identity, both accelerated by the new forms of social and news media. Narrow sets of interests now dominate the agenda as society becomes more and more tribal–and, as Murray shows, the casualties are mounting.
Readers of all political persuasions cannot afford to ignore Murray’s masterfully argued and fiercely provocative book, in which he seeks to inject some sense into the discussion around this generation’s most complicated issues. He ends with an impassioned call for free speech, shared common values and sanity in an age of mass hysteria.
We know where the venue is. It doesn’t worry us in the slightest 🙂
