Ummmmm, about that low Business confidence and the looming economic meltdown

H/T Damien Grant:

I appreciate many Comrades want to see low business confidence as a sexist attack by the white cis male patriarchy against our beloved PM – and certainly some of that is true – buuuuuuuuuuut there is one hell of a global economic collapse looming…

Experts warn the next recession will be ‘worse than the Great Depression’ and predict it will hit US within two years

…I’ve blogged about what the new Government needs to do when the economic shit hits the fan here, and the hope has been this is something that would trigger from a hard Brexit next year or the weight of American debt in 2020, but with the trade war between China and Trump speeding up and the new attempt to start war with Iran, the crash could be far sooner than we are ready for.

  1. Just a matter of time Martyn.

We would never keep on inflating prices and chasing the catchup in incomes it is a viciious circle that wikll end badly for all.

I will get rid of the late model computerised ‘digitally operated’ cars that are prone to expensive repairs and hacking and will gladly now keep my old 1883 and 96 models of toyota corona’s cars as they are very easy to fix.

Then I will put solar panels on our place with wind turbines for readiness for the impending crash and keep water supplies off the clean iron roof.
I have gone to “alternative medical care with natural treatments, to keep healthy as I was forced to do after being piosoned in the workplace in 1992 and this natural medicine has kept me and my family alive.

‘Self rediness’ is the order of the day now as my older generation did during 1929-1935.

I am a retired electrician tradesman and that will assist me and our family to survive.

  2. The globalised economic system is predicated on the acquisition of fossil fuels and the conversion of those fossil fuels into life-threatening pollution. That is a system which is doomed to failure.

Sadly, the organisations that should have been addressing such matters (particularly central government and local government) have ignored repeated warnings given over the past decade or so and are still firmly locked into denial of reality; they continue to make matters worse by the day.

This will all end very badly for everyone.

As CLEANGREEN says, it’s just a matter of time.

  3. Get into food gardening quick. A pet lamb? Cute, fluffy, good with kids, edible, wearable and shits out fertaliser. And I might buy a fucking annoying jet ski for fishing. I’ve always wondered what those wet things taste like. ( Not one of mine, sadly.)
And stock up on opium poppies, mushrooms, Pot and learn to make a still. Entertainment? Sorted.
Also, diesel vehicles are good because they’ll run on any combustable oil and once started, don’t need a battery/electrics.Compression-ignition is why. Diesel generators are good for the same reason. Noisy as fuck tho. Here’s one! A Fordson Major Tractor. Brilliant old machine. Cool looking, super reliable and has a decompression lever so you could hand crank it. Get the engine spinning then close the de-com lever! ( Ok. To be fair, you do need two people for that one ) Off she/he/it will go. Three point linkage at the back, funny old headlights out the front. They have a power-take-off shaft out the back PLUS a belt drive off the side of the engine for water pumps, portable milling etc. I had one and I sold it and I really regret that. Dang, don’t you hate those regrets?
But honestly, I don’t think it’ll be that bad. It’s the very rich that’ll hurt the most. I don’t mean the super rich, just those people who live an above average lifestyle. The Ponsonby house and Range Rover people. They’ll do it hard. High earners with mono skills.
    BTW
Why does every idiot council grow dumb fucking ornamental trees? Why not nut and fruit trees instead? Instead of insipid flower gardens? How about vegetables? They look ok. And the homeless could eat them. But, Oh no. None of that.
That’s just one of the reasons why we deserve what we’re about to get.

  4. Hi Martyn; I agree with you. Central banks are keeping the world corpse economy on life support with low interest rates. It’s the nightmare ‘plane where you drop 500 meters and fit your own oxygen mask before your child’s. No party is interested in the rescue so we need to protect ourselves. Thanks for raising this.
