When the Government have answered if any children were removed from state tenants over the meth hysteria, could they please tell us if Mike Sabin’s Methcon had anything to do with setting the flawed meth standards?
We can’t talk about Mike, or why he suddenly stopped becoming an MP or what happened after he stopped becoming an MP, but what we can say is that he ran Methcon, a bullshit company that preached the dangers of Meth contamination and made a killing on promoting that hysteria.

When Mike suddenly ‘resigned’ did Housing NZ stop any contact with Methcon?
I mean, wouldn’t it just be the fucking highest of hypocrisies after Simon Bridges cruelly described the 2400 state house tenants thrown onto the street as ‘meth crooks’ that an MP from his own Party who built a company on meth hysteria and who magically resigned, might have been involved in setting those standards?

Sabin was a scum operator in the Far North for way too long, he used his position on an East Coast School BOT to gather intel and inform and breach privacy on other parents, and conducted some very dubious activities as a Police Member
Methcon charged a minimum fee of well over a grand for a basic short seminar in a modest hall venue, with tiny Far North communities desperate for advice, they often just could not afford it, I found this out as producer of a modest local East Coast community newsletter, the Meth Seminar kept getting postponed, so I made enquiries
the Methcon fees would be nothing for many, but rural areas hit by burglaries, low resources and a raging Meth problem should get useful drug information provided as a social service, of course Methcon was never going to give useful info anyway, most of it syndicated direct from right wing nutters in the US
but yes, flip the rock over and investigate any Methcon link, Sabin unsold the business apparently when he entered parliament

Sabin used the little knowledge he obtained while he was a cop to set up a big con based on emotional black-mail. He used the old trick of relying on a few basic facts combined with unsubstantiated rhetoric to try and convince those who listened to him that there was this huge tsunami called meth contamination that was going to engulf all of us unless we bowed to his mantra.
This is the the same sort of emotional crap the National Party spews out again and again at election time about the crime stats and wanting to build more prisons to lock criminals away without parole because if we don’t they will come and attack us in our homes.
Sabin, through his company Methcon, portrayed himself as an expert on methamphetamine when he wasn’t and there is no doubt in my mind that his self-righteous crap certainly contributed to HNZ’s position and its deplorable and unlawful action of evicting tenants based on a flawed meth testing regime.
Now we have Bridges and his ilk bleating on attacking the current government over this issue when it was their very own scientist (appointed by Key under the last National Government) who debunked the whole methamphetamine testing regime.
I don’t know why Sabin resigned but his legacy is the destruction of so many peoples’ lives. Does he care? No. Does Bridges care? No. Why not? Because it doesn’t fit their toxic narrative to exhibit a sense of decency and compassion especially towards those hundreds of people evicted from their State Houses as a result of fake science.
