Update on my case against NZ Police illegally spying on me

Remember – according to John Key, the National Party and the new Government – mass surveillance isn’t happening here – just in every other member of the 5 Eyes…

GCHQ data collection regime violated human rights, court rules

GCHQ’s methods for bulk interception of online communications violated privacy and failed to provide sufficient surveillance safeguards, the European court of human rights has ruled.

But the ECHR found that GCHQ’s regime for sharing sensitive digital intelligence with foreign governments was not illegal, and it explicitly confirmed that bulk interception with tighter safeguards was permissible.

The ruling, which follows Edward Snowden’s whistleblowing revelations, is a comprehensive assessment by the ECHR of interception operations carried out until recently by UK intelligence agencies.

The legal claims, which had already been heard by the UK’s investigatory powers tribunal, were brought by a coalition of 14 human rights groups and privacy organisations including Amnesty International, Liberty, PrivacyInternational and Big Brother Watch, as well as journalists.

…so erectly the mass surveillance was illegal but sharing that information with other Governments for ‘national security reasons’ was fine. You can see how damaging that is.

While NZ struggles to get its head around the Police and State Agencies using corporate spies to surveil    activists and beneficiaries, the GSCB and SIS continue to collect mass surveillance material and share to with any member of the 5 Eyes.

Even when the police are caught red handed using methods that breach Civil rights (as is the case with my complaint against them for including me in their failed prosecution against Nicky Hager) the Human Rights Review Tribunal is so underfunded it doesn’t have the money to prosecute the Police for those breaches.

My latest update from the HRRT is that they are still too underfunded to prosecute the NZ Police.

Our watchdogs have no teeth or bark.

ALL part of the same old boys and old girls network, to which most of members in Parliament also belong, endless BS and lies and deceit, but as most ordinary folks are too busy working and surviving, hardly anybody gets the picture, as they do not even bother examining what goes on.

Wake up to reality! It is a face saving and protection racket or charade for government and other agencies.

  2. “My latest update from the HRRT is that they are still too underfunded to prosecute the NZ Police.”

Seems rather it is too ‘political’ an issue for them to deal with, they are reluctant to upset the establishment. Endless baseless excuses, such a case should actually have priority over whether a pizza delivery company treated a delivery person unfairly, in a particular case, as this case here, Martyn’s, has much greater importance for the whole nation and how it is run.

  3. “The only government Department that will listen to you”

Sadly yes you seem to say the truth here as the real labour are not seeming to listen to us now after being in the wilderness for nine years they still will not listen to us when in power in Government but still allow spying on us all it seems now.

Take this for instance; where we have told Government not to add toxic 1080 poison to our environment.

Green party socked me when they stood beside the lying chemical industry saying “there is no evidence that using 1080 is harming humans.

We remember when the tobacco cartel said the same thing about smoking also as all studies are actually controlled by the industries under fire of poisoning us all.

For them to say ‘there is no evidence that say these chemicals are harmful” is just a lie perpetrated by an industry that has cleverly withheld any evidence that their products are poisonous and are harmful.

  4. Maybe now you will beleave that you are living in a Police State, but did you know that they access your medical records as well, you do know that they are recording all your social media accounts, your bank accounts and soon that you will have a social credit score just as the Chinese do.
I advise all of you to dump google at the first opportunity, im switching my browser to Firefox as we speak.
Your Facebook account is your biggest liability, open source software is what is required for internet privacy.
Every phone can be used as a listening devise, smart TVs watch you as you watch them.
Did any of you vote for this? I dont remember it being on a ballot or referendum.

  5. Sharing that information led to one New Zealander being kidnapped, interrogated and tortured over a period of days in a hotel.

And the country that information was shared with was not even a top tier partner; it was not even a top 9-tier partner.

  6. Evil must be confronted. At the end of Lord of the Rings, evil had reached the Shire. If you stay at home, safe, warm and complacent – evil will eventually come to you. Peter Jackson left this crucial lesson out of his movies.

What is also true, and of comfort [cinematic reference – name that movie] is that you cannot break moral laws, you can only break yourself against them. Pause and think about that!

  7. Shocking. Good luck in your fight Martyn – just sharing your own experiences is important as it is clear something has gone wrong in the system in NZ, and ordinary people’s rights are being breached, screw ups are happening and nobody is being held accountable let alone stopped from further abuses of human rights.

And look at the leaders of the 5 eyes, Trump, May???? seriously do these people fill anybody with confidence their information is safe???

If governments can’t protect their own people, and follow their own rules and human rights, they quickly become dysfunctional internationally as well. Falls of empires, happening through incompetence and stupidity which their own people could have alerted them to, decades ago.

  8. Rise and Rise again till lambs become lions (Robin Hood)
Patriotism is the last refuge of the true scoundrel (Bob Dylan)
I love the smell of napalm in the morning, smells like Victory (Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore)

    • Dr. Samuel Johnson said:’Patriotism is the last resort of the scoundrel “in 1775. More recently Oscar Wilde [1880’s] said :”Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious.” While Bob Dylan is a great poet , he cannot claim ownership!

  9. Shocking, Martyn. I’m wondering if Radio NZ would be interested in carryingbthis as a story?

Have you approached a mp on this issue?

This cannot be allowed to stand.
