The NZ Herald Troll Farm and their predictions of doom for the Left

So far the Troll Farm at the NZ Herald comprising of Hosking, du Plesses-Allan, Hawkesby & Soper have all breathlessly foretold the end of this Government, the death of the Green Party & demise of NZ First – all in just 6 months!

Not even the Book of Revelations is this apocalyptic.

Include Hooton, an editor who wrote Key’s biography and Deborah Hill Con with an e, and the NZ Herald is looking less like a newspaper and reading more like a Fox News script.

The sheer animosity, misrepresentation and down right falsification of the Government’s agenda, values and vision aren’t the righteous critique of a fourth estate doing their job, they are the spiteful opinions of right wing pundits amplified because of the dominant market dynamics at play between ZB and the Herald.

This isn’t a media holding power to account, this is competitive malice.

  1. Forced into reading the eHeralde and agree. Some of it eg Du P-A is plain puerile pathetic – a NWS checkout operator complained to me about her last week when discussing Hill-Con-with-an-e, so people may be fairly switched on about what’s going on – these eHeralde guys could end up stacking shelves if they don’t jiggle to management’s dirty ditties.

The interesting – and predictable – thing about this trio is their callousness towards people outside of their own little milieu; their complete lack of vision – that is in the Nat genome; and the fact that not one of them has the ability to function at the level of those they criticise. Nowhere near.

Why they all sound like some provincial 1950’s group of patch-workers is a mystery, but at least those patch-workers mastered their craft, and mastered it well.

Maybe the Israel Folau plague is spreading, but that is not good enough either.

    • There are media(reporters, researchers) and then there are opinionists and with opinions, we all have them. Hosking, Richardson, Garner, Soper Hill Cone, HDPA, Hawkesby fall into that category and attempt to sensationalise with their opinions. this is best summed up perfectly by Hosking’s “I have not crashed, will not crash” opinion. As Homer Simpson once said “DOH”

      Well said Martyn,

And we do need to put the spotlight on ‘where is the Minister of Broadcasting’?

She (Clare Curran) was promising us a commercial free ‘investigative Journalism’ type channel seven called RNZ-plus) to be in service by now!!!!! but still as of now we have nothing yet to “add some balance the right wing troll media” and worse we have seen or heard nothing from this Minister who appears to be just a total wasted space and an embarrassment to us all and the Labour lead Government.

if I was Jacinda I would replace her now and find a real active strong Minister who will give us a voice that we need so desperately now since the rest of the media is trying to destroy the government.

  2. well I just stop reading the herald as I am not interested in the words of spiteful people upset their chosen political party is not in power. I guess they lost the perks of being aligned with the Nasty Nats and don’t like it.

they are irrelevant in the history making years of NZ the way we want it.

    • Yes Margaret- but I’m looking at it a bit differently now.

For so long we’ve rued the inability of many MSM to report facts or to make reasoned comment.

What they do and have been doing- stretching out facts, and manipulating people’s emotions- is in fact their mandate now; I don’t know if it’s jealousy, or part of some agenda, but it worked in wrongly convincing dimwits that the previous govt was competent.

  3. they are just worried that Seymour ACT is dancing with the stars and doesn’t want to dance with dead horse National any more

….the dead horse is beginning to stink

….they are really desperately worried about the end of no partners National

  4. I don’t believe you understand “fair and balanced”, far right wing trickle down effect, neoliberalists don’t do “fair and balanced”, they only do money and corruption. Once again we hear right wing rhetoric that cannot see the wood for the trees.

  5. NZ Herald and other NZMe news media outlets are owned by Australian business interests. Business is in the business of promoting business. By definition they absolutely hate any government not interested pandering to their personal interests, or funding their operations. You cannot look the the Herald for unbiased political reporting, their bias is obvious.

  6. I suspect the right wing of the media is actually upset because they can’t control the media narrative because so many people are getting their news from social media. Being the type of people they are they’ve upped the ante in terms of their own distortion.

I hope they keep going in this direction because eventually the majority of the country will stop believing them.

  8. Perhaps IM RIGHT could favour confused persons like me, with definitions of the terms, “Marxist”, and “far left Marxist.”

What is she talking about ?

Can she give even one example of who has been calling for restrictions on all media that don’t praise a left govt ?

Is her last sentence intended to confuse or to elucidate ? To bedazzle ? To cause Auckland’s acid reflux – nausea- or insights into a brain no insight has ever been before ?

  9. I use to, online, read the property and business sections of The Heard, but I don’t even bother with that anymore. Their property section is mostly propaganda encouraging housing speculation and their business section is lightweight, almost to the point of negligence.

Some of the better journalists in NZ should band together and form their own co-operative, online news service. Such an offering would surely garner a huge readership and therefore advertising revenues to feed the aforementioned journalists.

    • Is The Herald worth it ?

Really, it is just a list of daily Auckland Crime, Crashes and Crap.
Garnished with overweight women and lots of cars stuck in road blocks.

The Herald had a wonderful time for nine years while Key wizzed around playing with little girls pigtails.and using dragnets to capture wealthy immigrants in staggering numbers. for National coffers (on the hush hush) and Barfoot and Thompson dream homes.

But Key and his Caucus did nothing other than that. Just the pigtails. And some trails – which were mostly already partly there. They also floated Paula Bennett.

OH – I nearly forgot. Key gave heaps of Pokies to the Casino. So even if you had to step over the homeless to get into the gambling den called Sky – you could still make a fool of yourself.

Nine years of nothing. Just a wealthy caucus of do nothing layabouts.

Stuffing up Education; Health, Housing, Rentals; and packaging it in degradation Crime, Crashes and Crap.

Key himself gave himself the right to total surveillance of Kiwis. Like any other Trump or Putin or Kik Kak Konkin.

But The Herald didn’t bother about that. No way. The herald is Crap.

  10. And you graciously missed out the (I assume as I didn’t bother reading) alarmist GET READY FOR $3 PETROL Herald headline scream today.
