Fabricate is a visually immersive performance experience for those who love to feel, converse, and to experience kinaesthetic empathy from every angle.

The choreographers and performers- Caitlin (NZDC Youth Company), Lydia (ChoreoCo-Footnote; Pointy Dog), Cushla (Hadley Dance Company), Rodney and Reece- have worked alongside Sarah Foster-Sproull, Michael Palmenter, Ross McCormack, Val Smith, Malia Johnston, Okareka, and Moss Patterson, and other dance industry notables.

A revolving cyclorama of movement blazes in Fabricate. Set to ruffle feathers with blitzing moves, sparkly ideas, and a bit of light choreo, catch the brightest growing lights of dance this summer. Five fresh Unitec graduates present their pioneering professional work that promises to leave you breathless.

Tied together. Breaking apart. Tactile. In-between. Tension. Fabricate: it builds out of nothing. It is the tension in the in-between moments in our lives. When we sit down, when we  lean against a wall. It’s finding our own freedom under the constrictions we set upon each other.

Together and apart it’s play with space, light, and the tactile nature of an object. It’s beauty- but also that special kind of ugliness that somehow pleases your soul.

Fabricate is “a passionate creation that would grace any of the city’s main stages” – Seethe It promises an alternate perspective- quite literally- of in-theatre image-based dance performance. The challenging of stage to audience conventions and dynamics will leave viewers asking what it means to witness, and what it means to move. Each seat will change the show- come twice and you may not even recognize what you first saw. “[an] unsettling and clever piece,” (Entrenched)
