Are we being too harsh on John Key for his stance on refugee quotas?

Folks, I’m worried about our Prime Minister. Are we being too collectively harsh on him for his cruel and spiteful position on not lifting the refugee quota?

After all, John is being consistent.

He doesn’t really care about 305 000 kids in poverty. He doesn’t really care about mass spying on NZers. He doesn’t really care about how the TPPA robs us of our economic and political sovereignty. He doesn’t really care about due process. He doesn’t really care about climate change. He doesn’t really care about beneficiaries freezing in state houses. He doesn’t really care about private prisons. He doesn’t care about housing affordability. He doesn’t care about inequality. He doesn’t care about privatising social services. He doesn’t care about selling off state houses. He doesn’t really care about Sky City Casino getting more powerful. He doesn’t really care about the poor.

So him not caring about refugees from the places he is helping bomb is at least being consistant right?

And if this consistency continues, he’ll change his position on refugees once David Farrar breathlessly informs him the opinion polls have turned.

Note however his first response was the callous selfishness of the privileged, and not the best examples of compassion we want NZ to stand for.

This is beyond politics, this is about actual leadership, and Key’s impending flip flop will only be about politics.

He has let NZ down and shown us what he really is. At some point NZers have to ask themselves hard questions about why they vote for him.

Meanwhile the survivors flooding Europe are in desperate pain. Not being able to save all of them is no excuse to not save some of them.

  1. “At some point NZers have to ask themselves hard questions about why they vote for him”…. I was following a discussion on this topic, earlier today, and one question posed was “how much more has to happen before NZers wake up and get rid of Key(Johnny sparkles)”
My answer was……. “Unfortunately, rather a lot more…. even after three years of Muldoons “command economy” with wage and price freezes, which were obvious symptoms of the utter failure of the national governments economic policies, the Lange government only took power via the tory vote being split between national and the New Zealand party…. New Zealanders really do deserve to be classed as the stupidest people in the world”…..

When all said and done, while the “fourth estate” continues to run interference for this pile of dry dog turds, then any real consideration of the reality of governance under tory gangs will only happen within small groups of intelligent, enlightened people…. the rest of the population are either blind with greed/self interest/bigotry, or wouldn’t stack up to a cabbage in a debate…

    • 1000% Stephan,

      Martyn asks a poignant question.

What overlays that question is the lingering horrible thought, “how much do we trust John Key”?

We have seen that in history everything key does is pre-empted to be designed for use in other insidious ways, so I for one like Stephan do not even question wether Key has even one once iof humanity to be treated as though he is human.

Rather I just worry about what twisted diversion he is now leading us into over every word and plan he speaks coming out of his lying mouth.

  2. @ Stefan. I don’t know if we NZ’ers are stupid so much. We’ve had some serious effort put in to making sure the collective ‘WE’ don’t, won’t, can’t, couldn’t, would never etc. There’s been an extremely effective campaign to keep NZ’ers completely in the dark with regard to our affairs both political and economic. Eg the systematic and literal destruction of our MSM. Therefore, I rest my case ; – )
Is that the stupidity? Or is that as a consequence of a few very clever bastards getting away with murder, both literally and metaphorically.
As for jonky being voted in? Was he though? And if he wasn’t … well, that poses a whole other set of questions and chillingly, if one were to consider the above it would seem more supportive of the below, if you get my drift.
If, and let me take a flight of fancy here ( and a bold one at that ) jonky wasn’t voted ‘ in ‘ and yet there he is then what does that make every decision he’s ever made on our behalf ?
Exactly! Confusing, meandering, vague, obtuse and steeped in hidden agendas. Does his behaviour not suggest he wasn’t voted in but more was swindled in with an ulterior motive hidden behind an agenda?
Which brings me to why he’s still in our offices. Is it simply because no one’s challenged his presence? So he just goes on doing what he’s told and if he gets a power high off it, to say nothing of the many millions he has already, then that’s his bonus?
He says no to more refugees. Why ? We have plenty of room here and it wasn’t and isn’t refugees that took our tax paid for stuff and on-sold them for their profits and our on-going losses, like cold shitty houses for working people etc.
It seems to me that the normal avenues of redress are worthless because the election was rigged. And that on-going swindle is tainting the very way things are playing out. A domino effect, effectively.
jonky’s three steps ahead of us because he’s the one making up the rules as he goes. If this were a game of chess we’d be wise to make some bold moves.
( Do I make sense ? I’ve taken a codeine with an apple cider chaser for back pain so please forgive me if I seem vague . I’m having a William Burroughs moment . )

    • +100 you make perfect sense…

but dont take codeine!…they wreck your kidneys….all sorts of bad side effects ( check codeine out on Dr Google)

…drink lots of water to re-hydrate and get oxygen and blood into you back nerve cells to help repair ( at least a litre a day)

… go and see an acupuncturist or acupressure back person to realign muscles…go and see a chiropractor

…posture ? how good is it?

      • CB Take Disprin only as it is mildly helpful with out the Petrochemical soup in codeine!
Take coQ10 to help oxygenate your cells again.

Yes all modern electronic tabulated elections and voting on any issue, “Flag,” Foreshore, TPPA ect’ are rigged and now widely recognised.

I cant understand why even aNDREW, WINMSTON & JAMES (the opposition) ALL DONT request we go back to ONLY AN ALL PAPER VOTE AND COUNTING PROCESS TO FINALLY RID ELECTRONIC VOTE RIGGING THAT IS KILLING THE GLOBAL ECONOMY AND OUR SOCIETIES TODAY.

      • Hey @ You guys . Will do, thanks. I’d smoke cannabis, which is effective and harmless but is , as you know , illegal therefore I have to risk my health taking a legal albeit dangerous drug. I’d never had back issues ever until I compressed a T 1 disc digging stake holes with a crow bar. My left arm went numb and weirdly the heel on my right foot and the pain was at the extreme end of the scale. ACC and their henchpersons gave me the once over and discovered I was an older fellow so no. You’re worn out therefore you have a pre-existing condition. A very familiar story.
The fact that ACC then hit me up with a $580 levy for the job I was on when I injured my back is an irony not lost on me.
The best thing I did was buy an Obie, a dense foam roll over which you manoeuvre back and forth and up and down. I’d highly recommend getting one if one were suffering a back injury or back pain.
ACC. Swindlers, liars and cheats. A mirror reflecting our ‘government’ perfectly.

Once jonky’s kicked ( Literally , in my dreams ) out of OUR parliament and asset stripped under the proceeds of crimes act what’s the bet he takes up a roll as a televangelist on US day time TV?

William Burroughs once drawled out ” Never do business with a religious son of a bitch. But if you do ? Get-it-in-writing. Never trust someone with God on their side to tell them how to fuck you on the deal “.

        • @ Countryboy..2 points…1.)my partner did something to his back years ago and was on morphine for two weeks and the doctors recommended an operation for the excruciating sciatica..instead he went to an acupuncturist /acupressure back expert who realigned muscles/nerves in his back…he still needs to see a chiropractor once every two months for maintenance…. he didnt need an operation…in other words keep hunting for a back solution!
2.) ACC is a bastard alright…I wrenched my shoulder at work and my arm swelled up …Emergency doctors filled out ACC forms and put my arm in a sling and I was on pain killers for a week…I didnt use ACC because I fixed my shoulder myself using Allicin, high potency garlic and drinking lots of water

…however ACC hit me with a bill for over $1,000 dollars for ACC levies which we had already paid …and they kept billing us and ignoring our letters..eventually we threatened taking it to our MP and legal action…and then the letters stopped….conclusion …ACC is a RORT..and dangerously stressful for your health

    • CB – you make excellent sense as usual. Agree absolutely with what you have said here.

I have an awful gut feeling the last election was rigged.

Can’t prove anything of course. But given what went down prior to election day, Dirty Politics, exposing FJK’s lies, deception and cover ups, along with him using the GCSB/SIS to spy on NZ residents/citizens etc, I can’t see how any self respecting Kiwi could have possibly voted this lot of cesspool dwelling scum in!

FJK, the son of a refugee himself, should be ashamed of himself re the present dire refugee crisis, which is becoming desperate now. According to him, Europe has a problem! He said recently he’d have to consult a “focus” group! WTF? What sort “focus” group would that be then? Oh yes, that’s right. NatzKEY cronies from the business round table, NatzKEY financial benefactors, as well as FJK’s corporate buddy boys in the US!

What sort of man is FJK, that he has to “consult” before making a humanitarian decision? I could say what he is, but my comments would not be published and I’d possibly be banned from TDB!

Personally, I’d much rather a stop was put on the present mob of migrants allowed into the country, simply because they are wealthy and have NZ open its doors and hearts to those in genuine need of refuge from war torn nations.

I did wonder why Parliament went into recess last week so soon after the last break. Now I know. FJK is under pressure to take in desperate refugees from the middle east! He didn’t want to be scrutinized in Parliament for dragging his feet over this issue! The man is a disgrace to NZ.

Look after that back of yours. Have you tried swimming, (in a moderately heated pool this time of the year)? I find swimming great therapy for just about any ailment, physical and mental. It’s the magic potion for me 🙂

Take good care of yourself sunshine and keep the great posts coming 🙂

      • 100% bMary,

You take care Countryboy we need you with us all there.

Take several capsules of fishoil a day if just to lubricate your spine because two years ago my fence jumping ewe charged at me leaping six feet in the air and ramed me head front into my left side upper head area.

I was knocked out and she wound up pinning me under her in the race at sheering time.

I suffered concussion and a C4 back injury and took fish oil for six months untill I recovered.

The ewe was found finally caught by her front leg in a fance and had to be destroyed, so like the pain Key has caused us all “what goes around comes around”

        I just cant wait.

    • You make a lot of sense CB. Why do some NZ’s slag off refugees as a burden on the state? Granted, many need a big hand-up to get here and get their new life in order, but if you leave your country with b…all how can you expect to contribute much?? By far the majority of refugees end up as industrious, honest workers, providing essential services like cooking, cleaning, etc. to our society when they are given a chance. I have met and talked to a lot of refugees, I admire them immensely for their bravery and positive attitude to life, when so many of them have lived through hell.

    • ‘Which brings me to why he’s still in our offices. Is it simply because no one’s challenged his presence?’

i think its because he has so well redefined the terms of ‘democracy’ in NZ – ‘dirty politics’ doesn’t even begin to come close. maybe subterfuge, lies and deception perhaps? that has been foisted upon a basically compliant population by mainstream msm enchanted (in Ak) by rising house prices and i-can-do-better-than-you ‘optimism’ (cynicism) every/anywhere else
and that no one else has the gall/lack of ethics or values to play him at this new game.
which begs the question- what of democracy in NZ? short of a complete redirection and about turn by media, it will have to become a really dirty game

  3. What about beneficiaries, sole parents, sick and disabled, the unemployed, the low paid, the people in leaky homes, the overcrowded living in high rent charging places, the ones in Housing NZ homes, with rotten walls and dampness, making tenants sick?

Are they, are we, supposed to be compassionate with a PM who has lost touch not only with reality, but who has forgotten his own background, who is disconnected and rather busy with selling the country, its assets and people out?

Hhmmm, I guess, I am struggling to find any appreciation or understanding for that man at the top. He has a nice big mansion in Hawaii, one in St Stephens Ave, another holiday one in Omaha, apparently still real estate in London and Singapore, is he going to offer some shelter for refugees there?

Has his son Max sent out some social media messages expressing concern, sympathy and compassion with those fleeing Syria, I wonder?

Oh, perhaps they may have a change of heart, and a change of mind, some time, I wonder?

  4. “Are we being too collectively harsh on him for his cruel and spiteful position on not lifting the refugee quota?”

There’s your mistake, right there. When referring to his lordship, we should say “hard on” rather than “harsh on.”

    Happy days, everyone.

  5. Maybe what we need is a refugee lead economy ?
Turn these people into consumers and like the Chch quake the country will boom again.
But seriously, at some stage in the near future there will be billions of refugees, at what point do we say NZ in full, 20 million maybe? Because even now (in the good times) there are another 39 million ish waiting to be promoted from displaced person to refugee.
John al-Assad Key isn’t going to do anything for the 4 million people waiting to join the exodus to the west. The situation is only going to get worse.
Maybe Kiwi Savers could start investing in tents?
Obviously the planet needs more people.

  6. Sir (and I don’t call many people “sir”) Bob Geldof has just offered to immediately shelter 4 refugee families in his own house and apartment–and made a furious statement about government slackness. John key has offered to host the Windsors, the Obamas, the Trumps,….

  7. Are we being too hard on Key? Hell no! Key pre-empted all this trouble, planned its execution, claimed all the profit from his shares, and lied about everything he was confronted with or questioned over. Key ain’t gonna stop until the TPPA’s been signed. Once that’s done, he’ll strip our economy like he did with Ireland, and scarper to Hawaii, where the Smiling Assassin will be sitting pretty under his USA protection plan. What Key forgets is that if he should be charged with anything like fraud, tax evasion, falsifying financial declarations, tax evasion and/or any other such legal charges laid against him, he can be extradited back to NZ, as the crimes he committed were done on NZ soil.
Beware Key, your Karma is coming, and so is your day of judgement upon you.
