Gaza‘s growing death, injury and sickness

The total numbers of killed and wounded in Gaza by Israel since 7 October 2023 are: Killed 71,562 and Wounded 171,379.

The past 24 hours (as above) have seen 10 more persons killed and 1 more person injured.

Since the start of the Gaza ‘ceasefire’ the Israeli Occupation has killed 477 Palestinians and injured 1,301.

Since dawn, Israeli live ammunition fire and shelling from tanks, have killed 10 more residents and injured 1 other. The total number recorded killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, is now at least 71,562; the total wounded is now at least 171,379. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 85 and, that of those injured, is more than 204. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

Kushner presents a “master plan” for Gaza: President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who is a member of the “founding executive council” of the Board of Peace, delivered a presentation about the so-called “master plan” for the redevelopment of Gaza. The “number one thing is going to be security—obviously we’re working very closely with the Israelis to figure out a way to de-escalation, and the next phase is working with Hamas on demilitarisation,” Kushner said. He showed a map of the Gaza Strip divided into “residential” and “coastal tourism mixed” zones, complete with renderings of high-rise coastal towers. One of the presentation slides included Arabic script written incorrectly in reverse, from left to right, and with disconnected letters.

West Bank

Since 24:00 on 7 October 2023, Israeli Occupation forces have been imposing a complete closure of the West Bank, preventing residents and other permit-holders from neither entering nor leaving.The Israeli military also imposes severe and highly variable travel restrictions on all residents.

UN OCHA West Bank Update #354 – 22 January 2026

Some 25,000 residents of Hebron’s H2 area have been placed under curfew and severe movement restrictions since 19 January, as part of a large-scale Israeli operation, disrupting access to food, health care, and education.

The UN Secretary-General strongly condemned the unlawful entry into and demolition of UNRWA facilities in occupied East Jerusalem, warning that these actions violate the inviolability of United Nations premises and raise concerns about the continued delivery of essential services to Palestine refugees.

Ongoing settler attacks, threats, and intimidation, which have disrupted access to homes, pasture, and water and undermined residents’ sense of safety, have displaced over 100 Palestinian Bedouin and herding households from five communities across the West Bank over the past two weeks, the majority from Ras Ein al ‘Auja in Jericho governorate.

More than 72,000 farming and herding families, nearly two-thirds of all agricultural families, require urgent emergency agricultural assistance, according to a recent Food and Agriculture Organization survey.

Between 6 and 19 January 2026, two Palestinians, including one child, were killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
