Gaza‘s death, injury and sickness totals continue to rise

Since dawn, Israeli gunfire and shelling from tanks have killed two and wounded six more people. The total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, is now at least 70,669. The total wounded is now at least 171,165. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 88 and, that of those injured, is more than 213. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

The Israeli military remains deployed in over 50 percent of the Gaza Strip, beyond the so-called “Yellow Line,” which remains largely unmarked on the ground and where access to humanitarian facilities and assets, public infrastructure and agricultural land remain severely restricted or prohibited. For example, in North Gaza, out of six once functional hospitals, four are inaccessible: the Indonesian Al Awda and Beit Hanoun Hospitals are beyond the so-called “Yellow Line” and Kamal Adwan Hospital is immediately adjacent to it, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Across the Gaza Strip, Health Cluster data indicates that 35 health facilities are located east of the so-called “Yellow Line”, including eight hospitals and 26 Primary Health Care centres (PHCs) that are non-functional, while the Emirati field hospital in Rafah is functional but inaccessible. Detonations of residential buildings and bulldozing activities continue to be reported, including east of, and near, the so-called “Yellow Line.” Access to the sea remains prohibited and the detention of Palestinian fishers at sea continues to be reported, including the reported detention of four fishers by Israeli forces off the coast of Khan Yunis on 14 December. Israeli Army attack – agricultural sabotage: Ramallah – evening, Israeli Occupation forces, firing live ammunition, bulldozed crops on agricultural land, near the main entrance to the village of Nabi Saleh.
Israeli Army attack – beatings-up and injury: Jenin – the Israeli Army, firing live ammunition, continued its storming of the city as well as the refugee camp, severely beating-up four residents.
Israeli Army attack – 1 wounded: Qalqiliya – 17:20, Israeli Occupation forces opened fire, from the Annexation Wall in the city, wounding and hospitalising a man trying to get to work across the Green Line.
Israeli Army attack – 4 wounded: Nablus – 10:30–13:15, Israeli forces, firing live ammunition while storming the city, wounded four residents: Muhammad Khamis Husni Haroun, Ibrahim Anwar Saeed Al-Khatib, Nasr Maher Wafiq Abu Saleh and Ihab Abdul Hakim Zaki Lafdawi.
Israeli settler attack: Bethlehem – 21:30, armed Israeli settlers, opening indiscriminate fire, raided the village of Al-Rashayda.
