Winston is as arrogant as Trump and twice as delusional.

“2 Wongs don’t make a white, but they do build cheap ferries”

Unbelievably, Winston is trying to claim the bullshit deal that he has cut with etc Chinese for building the Ferries his Government cancelled has been some great deal making on his behalf is Trumpian in its glaring audacity.

Firstly – they are now being built by the Chinese which is a massive security and quality risk.

Secondly – it is NOT fucking cheaper when you consider what has already been spent by cancelling the old contract!

Govt confirms worse ferry deal – Labour

The Government has failed to deliver a better ferry deal for New Zealand.

“Smaller and more expensive ferries are set to land in New Zealand after much delay because Nicola Willis botched the Interislander ferry deal,” Labour transport and rail spokesperson Tangi Utikere said.

“We planned to pay $551 million for bigger and better, rail-enabled ferries. Winston Peters has agreed to pay $596 million for smaller ships of lower standard.

“Winston Peters seems to have swept the $671 million Nicola Willis spent in cancelling the ferries under the rug.

“We’ve long said the Government won’t deliver a better deal than what was underway under Labour, and today we have been proven right,” Tangi Utikere said.

Winston has to pretend the $671million Nicky No-boats caused by cancelling the original deal doesn’t exist to justify smaller ferries.

He has taken our cow to market and returned with 3 magic beans.

Winston is as arrogant as Trump and twice as delusional.

  1. His RNZ interview this morning was classic Winstone, at least he refrained from calling the interviewer “piggy” but came close to it.

    • 100% agree, Powerman.

Winne the Whiner on RNZ this morning was clearly hiding something deeply embarrassing behind his aggressive brainless bluster. It is a revealing interview well worth a listen.

The mythical supposed champions of our economy and our hard-earned tax dollars are clearly clusterfucking this up big time.

Winston is just another life-long career politician without any real world experience. Retire now, boomer.

But let us not permit them to dodge the inevitable economic blowback. We won’t forget.

      Dickheads.

    • And…as usual..keeping true to Coalition of Custerfuckery form …no mention of the quid pro quo factors..

Such a poor unprofessional ill thought through deal/ performance for the taxpayer by Willis and Peters. …

…No mention of the far more economical performance of the hybrid Hyundai ferries signed up for by Labour… that adds up substantially within a short period of time and it will be exponential…

…No mention of the extra people and vehicle capacity of the Hyundai ferries, thus allowing for far better economies of scale, population and tourism growth and therefore general growth.

No mention of the fact that, keeping the old wharves, at the same height as they are now, factors in no future proofing allowances for sea level rise.. which is a certainty .

And for that the N.Z. taxpayer gets landed with a $670,000 million dollar fine to boot..

Winston , Willis, Luxon, Seymour…choose your economic illiterate fool!

  2. The old bastard has already admitted the port infrastructure will need to be upgraded within the next 10 years, but is just kicking the can down the road.

And in typical boomer style, he doesn’t give a fuck as he’ll be dead by the time the bill arrives.

Just another deferred cost that a future Labour led government will have to address.

Like the ferries, Winston can get in the sea.

    • Except Winston is not a Boomer he was born before the end of WWII but it is typical for Gen X to blame Boomers for everything

      • Want to address the points I’ve raised or be a quibbling nonce?

And yes, I called you a nonce as you took a wild guess at my age so I’ll take a wild guess at your predilections.

if you’re upset at my accusations towards greedy boomer fuckwits and the politicians who enable their selfishness, address that.

        Or just go fuck yourself

  3. I too am suspicious of Chinese technologies – they are fraught with extreme security risks and shoddy components. The contract Labour had for new ferries was intelligent, safe and secure. To claim a “saving” here, when this dumb-assed CoC has to pay a cancellation fee [$671m], is screamingly stupid. Winston, it sounds like you need to retire very soon, if not now. Looks like all this is becoming too much for you to shoulder. We thought you had more common-sense but clearly, from both your mining and ferry perspectives, you have lost the plot. Time to take it easy in a ‘nice rest home’.

  4. Yes same old shit from Winstone and has the costs of employing all the men nodding their heads behind Winstone been factored in, cheaper ferries taking 4 years longer and we would have better to do a long term good quality upgrade to the ports so we can also bring in cruise ships.

    • No one seems to have asked the question about the cost to the country of waiting four more years to have sufficient capacity for the strait.

      • That’s because the government has kept that as quiet as possible.

No RORO for rail freight anymore and not for years to come.

  5. Fours years on, Peters will claim his deal delivers ferries with a similar capability at a similar price. Well done him in his own opinion. The costs involved in canceling the previous ferries is nothing to do with him, that cost is entirely the fault of National.

  6. winston was abusive on RNZ this morning, the sheer arrogance of the man.
And so we wait another 4 years. And we have to have the ports upgraded in the next 10 years.

I am not sure about the criticism of shoddy products from China, far too much of a generalisation. Of course I have seen lots of junk/crap/rubbish come out of China and lots of third world countries, not exclusive to China.

But big things, tell me about that, they have that phenomenally fast train meglev, what is wrong with that 623mph

At the top end they are at the TOP.
I am interested to know who paid for the rail carriages when the asbestos had to be removed – of course these things need to be addressed and paid for by China.

  7. He is not saving a cent he is spending 2 billion on two boats so they are costing 1 billion each .The dockside infastructure is now being paid for by rate payers who are also taxpayers .How can spending 2 billion on two corrolla ships be a good deal when the two rolls royce ships were 10% bigger and 10% cheaper .No matter which way you look at they are costing 2.7 billion when you include the 700 million flushed out to sea already and there are no docks for them .I reckon 5 billion by the time they get here .

  8. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/11/19/us/jeffrey-epstein-emails-congress-trump-invs-vis

Nationals huge donor and close friend of Key caught up in the Epstein files probably no surprise given the sordid party National are…

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/indepth/national/how-peter-thiel-got-new-zealand-citizenship/

“During this period Thiel seems to have made a conscious effort to court the new National Party Government, meeting Key, Finance Minister Bill English, Minister of Economic Development Gerry Brownlee and Minister of Science Wayne Mapp.”

Gerry Brownlee: The then-Minister for Economic Development also met Thiel during his whirlwind of government lobbying in 2010.

Peter Dunne was Minister of Internal Affairs when news of Thiel’s citizenship broke a year ago, said “I looked at the documentation the Minister would have received, which basically said, ‘These are the facts and, by the way, we recommend it’. I thought, ‘I can’t quite see how you to get to this conclusion on the face of the fact he’d been in the country only 12 days.’”

The National party has always been paid and bought and money rather than due diligence is their agenda.

  9. Yeah, but realistically Winston probably did the best he could to salvage burnt chestnuts from the fire. Imagine what kind of a deal they would have got if Winston wasn’t there to hold out for roll-on roll-off rail enablement. Not rail-enabled, to be sure.

  10. My assertion is proven by the history of governance in New Zealand of the economy.

Your assertion is based on myths spread by corporate media and think tanks.

And you guzzle it down like the unthinking hog you are.

Sooooeeeeeeee little hoggy, Plunkets calling you back to your crate.

    • Name one infrastructure project where a National government has paid enough to meet the current needs of our country?

But they’ll ensure their donors and family members walk away with the filled pockets.

Now, do jog on Frank the Wank Bank.
