The National Press Club is receiving criticism after international journalist Chris Hedges complained it had bumped him off a speaking engagement.
As Dr Lee Duffield reports, Hedges believes the decision to drop a proposed televised address on the catastrophe in Gaza was caused by underhand lobbying.
Let’s be clear, Chris Hedges is a formidable fourth estate journalists on the planet.
He is a Pulitzer prize winning journalist and the former Middle East Bureau Chief for the New York Times.
He has earnt the right to call it the way he sees it.
He was invited to speak at the Australian National Press Club, but the second they saw his speech notes criticising media coverage of Gaza, like cowards, they dumped him.

British Airways pulls Louis Theroux podcast sponsorship after Bob Vylan interview
British Airways has halted its sponsorship of Louis Theroux’s podcast over an interview with the frontman of Bob Vylan.
The airline has withdrawn its adverts from the journalist’s podcast after he interviewed Bobby Vylan – whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster.
On it, Vylan said he was “not regretful” of leading chants of “death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]” during a performance at the Glastonbury festival this summer. He said he would “do it again tomorrow”.
…once again the truth of how the alt-right have weaponised free speech is laid bare because British Airways and the Australian National Press Club were both heavily lobbied by the Zionist apologists who threatened claims of anti-semitism to gain censorship over anyone who is critical of Israel’s genocide.
This is the true hypocrisy of the Alt-Rights claim to champion Free Speech, because the moment you start criticising Israel’s genocide, you have your free speech gagged.
Louis has interviews pedophiles, Nazis, white supremacists etc etc etc but the moment he talks to someone critical of Israel, podcast sponsorship pulled.
I had the exact same experience in NZ when the sponsorship was pulled on The Working Group because I refused to curb my criticism of Israel on this very blog…
