The total number of people now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, is at least 68,519 and that of the wounded is at least 170,382. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 90 and, that of those injured, is more than 227. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.
Gaza faces harsh winter as Israel blocks aid, UNRWA warns
The UNRWA Agency says shelter materials “are sitting in its warehouses in Jordan and Egypt, blocked from entry”.
Gaza faces a worsening crisis as winter approaches, with vital shelter and supplies blocked by Israel from entering the enclave, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees warned on Saturday. In a statement on US social media company X, UNRWA said shelter and winter materials meant for displaced families “are sitting in UNRWA warehouses in Jordan and Egypt, blocked from entry”.
“As winter approaches in Gaza, people are increasingly in need of shelter and warmth,” the agency said, calling for the immediate restoration of humanitarian access.
On Thursday, Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan, quoted a senior government official as saying that “Israel does not intend to allow UNRWA to return to work in Gaza despite the International Court’s decision” requiring it to do so. The comment came a day after the International Court of Justice said Palestinians in Gaza “have not received sufficient supplies” of humanitarian aid and ruled that Israel must allow and facilitate the delivery of assistance and stop using starvation as a method of warfare.
The opinion was issued as a non-binding legal advisory by the Court, outlining Israel’s obligations in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank, following a request from the UN General Assembly in December 2024. Israel’s restriction on the entry of goods into Gaza continues, despite the latest ceasefire deal with Hamas reached earlier this month. The deal is based on US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Peace-Plan. It’s Phase One included the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
Since October 2023, the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza has killed more than 68,000 people.

We therefore issue this appeal as Jews from all walks of life and across the world. We affirm our belief in the universality of justice and the fair and equal application of international law. We have not forgotten that so many of the laws, charters, and conventions established to safeguard and protect all human life were created in response to the Holocaust. Those safeguards have been relentlessly violated by Israel. Accountability for the Israeli leadership’s grievous violations of international law is necessary. It is time to do everything possible to definitively end the Israeli government’s collective punishment of the Palestinians and to pursue peace for the sake of both peoples.

Since 24:00 on 7 October 2023, Occupation forces have imposed a complete closure on the West Bank governorates (due to the aggression in the Gaza Strip), and have prevented people, including permit–holders, from entering the city of Jerusalem and Israel, with the exception of diplomatic and international missions and humanitarian cases after prior co–ordination, until further notice.
