The odd bed fellows of the Culture War Alt Right in NZ

Watching the writhing pus nest of the Alt Right in NZ, it is quickly apparent that there are certain pillars of faith for this new spite culture.

From ‘conservative populists’ like Culture War Boomer Chris Trotter all the way to Hate Blog The Centrist and NZF Hate Troll Rhys Williams and the Sean Plunkett’s of the internet world, there is a similar collection of interests used as culture war staging points worth highlighting.

It’s a similar recipe to the anti-vax movement that was generated on social media during the Covid pandemic.

Single Woman in their 40s who believed that crystals healed them suddenly went feral anti-vax after the social media hate algorithms latched them onto extreme content that they never would have connected with previously as they were stalled up in rabbit holes.

I think the same synergies are working to create an Alt-Right culture war landscape and these are exploited by the various astro-turf right wing groups who take Dark Ag money and social media tactics from The Atlas Network.

Anti-Māori + Anti-Treaty – Indigenous people know how exploitative capitalism was used against them in the first waves of colonisation so it is essential for big business to limit, demonise and destroy indigenous rights and use bigotry and racism to fuel that drive. It’s easier as a redneck to hate māori if there is some ideological fig leaf pretending to be a principled criticism of indigenous rights rather than the cross burning, banjo twanging jamboree that t really is.

Feral Climate Denial – The big money behind the Alt-Right astro turf organisations are ultimately polluters who want to ensure climate change is always prorated as a socialist hoax, and it works. Right now NZ is facing extreme weather BECAUSE of climate change yet there is no connection between climate change and our roll back of climate change legislation.

Support of Israel – Woven deep into the fabric of the Alt-Right in NZ is this bizarre love affair with Israel and refusing point blank to accept they have committed a genocide that demands criticism. I believe this is driven by the fact many on the Left are against Israel’s war crimes and the polarisation of politics is now so extreme that the Alt-Right are simply against anything the Left protest about, no matter the genuineness of the issue.

Weaponising Free Speech – Thanks to woke middle class activists who ran cancel culture purges between 2014-2020, the  Alt-Right have managed to weaponise Free Speech in a way that chokes off real criticism of Capitalism, Israel, America and the wider right. The Alt-Right pretend to champion Free Speech, right up until you start challenging their bullshit and then suddenly it’s, ‘The Radical Left violence’ crap.

Anti-Vaxx + Anti-Trans –These are almost the Grandfather and Grandmother conspiracies of the Alt-Right movement and were the early catalysts for the type of NZF activists who flooded the movement and make NZF such a radioactive hate pit today.

Rates Rise Revolts – Hilariously the disconnect between National’s culling of 3 Waters and the rates rises many are feeling has been exploited by the NZ Initiative and Taxpayers’ Union astroturf organisations who have managed to elect right wing candidates focused on cutting the rate costs that National have placed upon them without acknowledging it.

It has been an enormously successful con job and Kiwis have been played like fiddles into believing every Council is pissing away their money when the reality is Council Services and Infrastructure have been underfunded for decades and that underinvestment is now biting rate payers in the arse. Refusing to understand this has been driven by a racist anti-Māori 3 Waters agenda which has been wildly successful.

Farmers Uber Allas – Finally, all that Dark Ag money has to ensure the ruddy faces of the Farmers are always presented as the true citizens of the soil and everything they want must be granted and anyone criticising their control and influence over the entire economy and political class is high treason.

Anti-Treaty, pro-Farmers, pro-Israel, climate denial, weaponising Free Speech, Rates Rise revolts and Anti-vaccines and Anti-Trans, these are the culture war talking points all the Alt-Right are participating in now and they are all linked back to the interests of polluters, Redneck Billionaires and Big Business.
