Prime Minister urged to demand Israel allow New Zealand humanitarian supplies through to the starving people of Gaza

PSNA is urging Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to stand up to Israel and demand it allow the tens of millions in New Zealand aid to get through to the starving people of Gaza.

Despite the ceasefire the head of the World Health Organisation said today the hunger crisis in Gaza is ā€œcatastrophicā€. Meanwhile 41 aid organisations have said Israel is ā€œarbitrarilyā€ rejecting aid shipments into famine-struck Gaza where the UN says a quarter of Gaza’s population is starving.

ā€œOur aid is being blocked by Israelā€ says PSNA Co-Chair John Minto. ā€œNew Zealand has paid over $40 million on aid for Gaza but Israel is refusing to let it through to the starving populationā€

ā€œThe government’s commitment of food and medical supplies is just window-dressing if we don’t insist it gets throughā€

ā€œIsrael’s cruelty and depravity is plain to see but not a peep from our government. What’s so hard about standing up for basic human decency?ā€

Meanwhile the International Court of Justice this week reiterated its call for Israel to abide by international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

In its advisory opinion the court said as the occupying power Israel is required to ā€œensure that the population of the Occupied Palestinian Territory [OPT] has the essential supplies of daily life, including food, water, clothing, bedding, shelter, fuel, medical supplies and servicesā€ and ā€œto respect the prohibition on the use of starvation of civilians as a method of warfareā€

Israel has refused to do either.

ā€œMass killing and mass starvation of Palestinians in Gaza hasn’t moved the governmentā€ says Minto

ā€œAll we have are limp platitudes such as Foreign Minister Peters made 11 days ago urging ā€œthe immediate influx of food, fuel and basic supplies into Gazaā€ā€œ

ā€œCowardice in the face of Israel’s brutality is endemic within the Foreign Minister’s officeā€

ā€œA New Zealand parliamentary delegation needs to travel to Gaza without delay to directly monitor what’s happening and confront Israel’s depraved behaviourā€

Luxon should speak out now and ask the Foreign Affairs Select Committee to immediately organise a delegation to Gaza

John Minto

Co-Chair PSNA

  1. But Israel has a right to defend itself and it would be mucho antisemitic to suggest, their inflicting a genocide, is not ok.

The Israelis are now rabid. It’s becoming even more farcical to call Hamas terrorists, just so the masses can think goody vs baddy. If they need Hamas out of any future leadership this should also apply to that evil sod Netanyahu and his band of Zionist nut-jobs.

  2. ā€œIsrael’s cruelty and depravity is plain to see but not a peep from our government. What’s so hard about standing up for basic human decency?ā€

John this deplorable regime is in no way a representative for basic human decency. That’s not where they are coming from. You only have to observe their cruelty and malice against our own people while enriching themselves and their elitist supporters.

  3. Are we at war with Palestine?

Is Judith Collins a war criminal?

Last night on TVNZ One News Judith Collins questioned by reporters on her permitting Rocket Lab to conduct serveilance useful to the IDF. Collins replied, “We are not at war with Israel.”

What are the implications of Judith Collins words?

Israel is at war with Palestine, TVNZ revealed that New Zealand is helping Israel’s war effort.

The unspoken implication of Judith Collins words that we are not at war with Israel, is that New Zealand is at war with Palestine.

Rocket Lab’s surveilance flights have not stopped during the ceasefire.

6 hours ago, The Electronic Intifada quoting Drop Site News, reported that in a breach of the ceasefire, Israel has closed all border crossings into Gaza and has resumed bombing under the pretext that a second IDF bulldozer was attacked while demolishing houses. The Palestinians say the IDF bulldozer ran over an unexploded ordinance. No Israeli soldiers were killed in the explosion. Over a dozen Palestinians civilians have been killed in the Israeli retaliation.

  4. The latest videos showing Hamas terrorists beating and executing their own people in front of cheering, energetic crowds reveal very well fed people. There is zero starvation in Gaza.

    • Gaby, not even Israel are claiming there’s no shortage of food.

Are you going to talk about how many Israelis/visitors the IDF killed on Oct 7, and after that day? No? Of course not. No one is saying Hamas aren’t bad. Most people with common sense can see the Israelis are worse, and Israel is the reason they exist.

  5. Corrupt and rotten to the core.

The coalition government parties and Labour opposition party are all of one mind, Winston Peters said it, Chris Hipkins repeated it. There is no genocide in Gaza, not until the ICJ rules there is. This is the same excuse that the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer gave to continue giving military assistance to Israel, in the form of F-16 parts and RAF suveilance flights over Gaza
The UK Labour government is not alone, New Zealand is also guilty of providing Israel with military surveilance, courtesy of Rocket Lab.Ā Ā

The Prime MInister Christopher Luxon wrongly asserts that our export laws apply and “that is the rules that we should be following”. Green Party leader Chloe Swarbrick says it is “appalling”. Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins is silent.

As the war in Gaza began officials advised the government that new satelites launched from New Zealand may be used by Israel. Documents obtained by one news shows the officials reccomended the launches go ahead. And the Minister green lit them.

    Concerns are being raised.
    Here is senior politcal reporter Benedict Collins;

At the Aerospace Summit in Christchurch protesters were taking a stand, they’re protesting against things like this, rocket Lab launching black sky satelites from Mahia Peninsula. [video of rocket launch], The Black Sky satelites are used by foreign miulitaries. Now one News has obtained doucuments showing that in late in 2023 shortly after the war in Gaza began, officials told the Space Minister there was a risk Israel could use the satelites. But they recommended that the launches go ahead, saying; “There are mitigating factors”. The Space Minister approved the launches and Rocket Lab began sending the Black Sky satelites up earlier this year.

[Judtith Collins] “We don’t have sanctions on Israel. We are not at war with Israel, Israel is not our enemy. It is very clear to me that we need to be able to get on and do the job.
We are very fortunate to be in the position where we are third in the world to successful vertical launches.

[Chloe Swarbrick] “The government has done worse than sit on their hands, they have actively provided a permit for military imaging technology to be used by the Israeli occupation forces.”

[TVNZ] The Prime Minister thought our export control laws would have applied.

[Christopher Luxon] “That is a regime, that makes sure that assets aren’t being deployed that can create human rights abuses and other things”

[TVNZ] So should we be sending the satelites up for the Israeli military to use, given that we have accused some of their government of being extremists? You have said yourself, Benjamin Netanyahu has lost the plot. Should we be putting satelites up for their military to use?

[Christopher Luxon] “Well, we have an export controls regime that is the rules that we should be following.”

[TVNZ] Payloads launched from New Zealand are actually not subject to the export control regime, but a different outer space act.

[Chloe Swarbrick] “This is appalling, this is contributing actively to human rights abuses and to genocide.

Officials at our space agency refused to be interviewed about Black Sky. Rocket LabĀ  didn’t respond to a request to an interview with Sir Peter Beck.

It is clear some are not impressed.

Should Judith Collins name be forwarded to the hague for assisting the commission of war crimes and genocide?

Let me know in the comments.
