In Mariameno, Te Pati Māori have another Alamein Kopu/Elizabeth Kerekere/Darleen Tana

I think it is now apparent from Mariameno’s comments and Eru’s that they are digging in their heels and the relationship is likely to become toxic.

Let’s be clear.

When Eru launched his destabilising attack on the leadership, he didn’t mention once the threats of violence, he didn’t mention once the over spending or that he had been hired by his Mum and was involved in that spending.

Not once, which when known now make his allegations against the leadership seem very, very, very hollow and self-interested.

In Mariameno, Te Pati Māori seem to have another Alamein Kopu/Elizabeth Kerekere/Darleen Tana, a well worn parliamentary route taken by the disaffected and bitter who refuse to stand down and instead stay on as long as they can.

I think Joel Maxwell summed it up best…

If Te Pāti Māori wants to succeed, it needs to get its s… together

…Labour + Greens + te Pati Māori could embark upon the progressive change that the Left has been yearning for, but there seem to be some more concerned with their own agendas rather than the kaupapa.

  1. TPM could have only one serious MP and they’d still be more committed to positive change than the entirety of the Labour party.

  2. TPM a party of show ponies now . With so many Maori being elected on their own merits by all Parties why is there is a need for separate seats .

  3. The selfishness and self-entitlement of some never fails to disappoint or disgust me. Mariameno is a ‘pathetic parent’ and when she is ousted she only has to look at herself in the mirror to see her indulgence re her dishonest, son, Eru, has been her downfall. He didn’t even have the b&lls to own up, but tried to shoot down the leadership of TMP. Shame on both of you. At least now you have been exposed, have the guts to admit that you know what you did was arrogant, so very self-serving and unfair. So TMP get rid of this MP ASAP, she is a total liability to your party and shows a severe lack of scruples and integrity! Should she admit they were wrong, then I MIGHT give her a second chance, but I doubt very much this will happen! Whatever, don’t allow the two of them to make a political sideshow of THEIR problem. They need to own it; they created it!

  4. A good leadership team has to be committed to values agreed by all in the group, and loyal and intent on doing good according to the wishes of the people it is invested in. And not be self-serving, or a figurehead for disaffected people and intent on personal or sectional advancement  to recompense for poor outcomes in the past.

Awareness of the past, knowing that others have looked after themselves at your expense may be at the back of one’s mind, but being careful not to repeat that should lead to considered different paths to reach the goal of betterment. The Israeli debacle over Palestine is an example of repeating behaviour that was outrageous and disgusting to comprehend.

Reaction to violation of property or person is understandable at the time but the Maori now relating their poor behaviour  to defective colonial oppression, illegality and class-conscious pretensions doesn’t convey the strength, wisdom and mana that other Maori have.  Committing further improper actions will not satisfy grievances; administrations are prone to unfairness not only in this country. Those who  play the  games presently unfolding in the country’s Parliament under the present government with Gnats’ reckless callousness are being self-indulgent and don’t advance their own cause or that of NZAotearoa.
