National – 34
Labour – 32
Greens – 11
NZF – 9
ACT – 8
MP – 3
The more voters see of Luxon, the more they hate him.
The biggest issue was the way voters now see the economic outlook.
A massive 18% rise believe NZ is now going backwards under National.
Despite the economic meltdown, Labour still can not make any head way if they don’t have any actual policy.
The ‘good’ news for Labour is the economy is going to get far worse in terms of melting down.
Labour need to make some hard calls on policy ideas for the Economy.
Te Pati Māori can continue to lose party vote as long as they hold onto 6 seats, indeed if voters started putting that Maori Party party vote with Labour or Greens, the chance of replacing the Government would increase.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Not looking good for Luxon. He’s a bit of a tonedeaf bonehead. If Nats change leader it’ll be a runaway victory.
Yes agree whoever is National leader it will be a runaway victory for the opposition
Yes Clive…Nobody…but nobody can surely believe that National could even manage Luxon’s church’s donations let alone run a country…
Willis has driven the economy straight off a cliff , where the fuck are our new ferries…and, whose paying for the $670 million dollar cancellation fine, they, and only they, caused.
With unemployment through the roof and a construction industry now on it’s knees, nobody in their right mind can
possibly think that National deserve another term!
Martyn, I can now see why you publish these twisted polls? They are nothing short of propaganga and RW brainwashing. If if makes the Right feel good, dumb them! The stats are from the same-old, same-old lot every time. I have several friends who are National supporters and they despise Luxon. However in saying that Labour has to bring out meaningful, fair and economically sensible policies soon, to counteract these dumb-assed stats. It is almost impossible to believe there could be anyone backing this corrupt, empty headed, egotistical, lying Luxon – come on think about it – it’s lunacy. He is the worst PM this country has EVER HAD and hope to NEVER HAVE again. But hey, how about if Labour voters, who are polled, are voting for him so he gets so up himself, as if he could get any worse, he becomes more over-confident. Just a thought!. Labour need this asset!!
Who believes National is really on 34% the One News poll bucks the trend all of a sudden
Todays headlines ‘National steady, Labour dips as economy shrinks..’ that is somewhat contradictory, are the pollsters aware that National is the govt not Labour? Why do these TVNZ polls always seem out of step? The obvious trend though across all polling over the past year is that this current abysmal coalition excuse for a govt will be turfed out next year.
One difference between the 2 Chris’s is that one is a typical, CEO and is used to making hard calls that may make him unpopular and the other is a typical politician that needs to be liked just like the person he replaced. If Labour cannot pull ahead up to now they will be lost in the dust when the economy picks up which it will.
“when the economy picks up which it will”
It won’t under this regime because they have set us back 30 years and that’s a fact.
The economy is not “picking up”.tgat is fanciful think…
Luxon’s “calls” are not the “hard calls”, that had to be made….they are sheer stupidity calls..
Luxon is a self-grandiose clueless economic self-harmer… a god- bothering, anti- abortionist , religious
zealot…
What the fuck is he doing here… trying to run a country …and who the fuck thought it was a good idea to put this clowns name forward in the first place…
BREAKING: TVNZ POLL – National cling to power.
No… No. Neoliberalism clings to national. Neoliberalism indeed clings to everything it’s encouraged to touch.
The neoliberal mechanism clings to what ever it touches. I’m drunk so I might have repeated myself.
The disease that’s roger douglas’s own particular interpratation of neoliberalism sticks to things that are, by their very nature previusly thought to be un-stickable.
The only thing national clings to is the desperate hope that ancient lies still hold fast in the face of the truth and an ugly, scary face it has.
What an excellent posting. Thankyou for that. Well said.
Love how you make difficult concepts seem simple and easy to understand
I think the MOST important poll is not these ones that swing like pendulums in the wind but the Vote at the General Election.
These Polls come and go. The one Marked observation is Luxon isn’t making National look too good. Because of Luxon National will probably lose votes as he lacks Credibility or Morals. For Luxon being prime minister is ALL ABOUT LUXON and his “What I say to you…..” responses.
One time a TVNZ journalist was on record as saying She Loves Luxon’s Passion. She indicated that NZers “Need to get to know Luxon”. To date he has come across as a Terrible, Weak, Cowardly, Incompetent Leader and a poor representative of NZ and NZers.
I would call Luxon the Missing In Action Part-time prime minister(deliberate use of lower case here). He seems too scared to take Peters and Seymour to account. Looking at the fact Luxon has DONE NOTHING about Peters and Seymour for TWO Bloody years he is making himself look more and more stupid and dragging National down with him.
We could say that Luxon being in National is the Best Thing Going for Labour.
The Eyes Are the Mirror to the Soul of a person and Luxon’s eyes look dead. He has NO INTEREST in politics or being held accountable for the ACTIONS of HIS GOVERNMENT. He has switched off and is probably only Biding His Time till someone dangles a “Knighthood” in front of him.
Yes Luxon is the Labour vote that just keeps giving.

Audrey Young sister of the ex National MP Jonathon who writes her right wing column for the NZ Herald used to do the same for Key. She used to fawn over Key as did Barry Soper who proclaimed he missed his Friday night drinks in parliament with Key, tells you all you need to know about New Zealand’s right wing biased media.
Am I on a TDB “block list”? That would make more sense than deliberately not publishing anything I post in comments (given that none of it is remotely edgy).
One swallow does not a poll make unless of course you think having a swig from a cup of vomit is a success.
This poll is shameful for Labour. How could it be that this utterly useless terrible government is even remotely in the running to be able to win the next election.
