The person who has smashed Winston’s window has elected a jury trial and has pleaded not guilty. We will watch the trial with interest.

In light of the grave accusations that have been leveled against the Left by Winston Peters and repeated and enlarged by Duncan Garner and David Seymour, it is in the public interest that permanent name suppression must not be granted.
Yes, I understand that being identified is a punishment on its own. But do the crime, do the time.
If this person is not identified, the harm to our democracy could be much worse.

Winston might be praying that the person who broke his window turns out to be a left-wing activist. If Winston is reduced to praying for such a thing (in other words praying that God will make what he said right, even if it happens to be wrong, which is a big ask even of Almighty God) then it is just another sign of how he has lost the plot as a politician. Even in the era of Trump, politicians still need to speak carefully, and there are times when it is better not to speak at all.
The left should not be overly concerned about the identity or motivations of the window breaker. It is what it is. As the Book of Ecclesiastes says “For everything there is a season and time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to break windows and a time to repair windows..” or something like that.

I am not saying that this is a case of a ‘False Flag’, but until we know who this person is, and their life story we can not be sure. Whether ‘False Flag’ or simply misguied individual, or maybe even just a coincidental attempted burglary. Until we know, this will continue to metastasize.

Awesome that this is trial by jury as burglary is a serious charge however, they could lessen the charge to intentional damage so it could be pleaded out but it should still be possible to get his reasoning why he did throw a brick or crowbar in Winstons window and they could drag this charge closer to the election by that time this event is forgotten and Winston crew would manufacture another shock and awe scenario
