Merciless blitz on starving Gaza — growing numbers

34 more people killed and 200 wounded
Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile-launches and gunfire on homes, as well as medical and other facilities, have resulted in 34 dead and 200 wounded. Civil Defence crews retrieved three more bodies from underneath bomb-damaged property, bringing the total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, to at least 65,208. The total wounded is now at least 166,271. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 91 and, that of those injured, is more than 233. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich left no room for doubt earlier this year, when he said that the approval of thousands of new Jewish housing units in the West Bank will “permanently bury the idea of a Palestinian state, because there is nothing to recognise and no one to recognise.”

Since 24:00 on 7 October 2023, Israeli Occupation forces have been imposing a complete closure of the West Bank, preventing residents and other permit-holders from entering or leaving. The Israeli military also imposes severe and highly variable travel restrictions on all residents.

Israeli police and settlers’ mosque violation: Jerusalem – 13:45, the Israeli Occupation issued an order, to ban an Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher, Muhammad Sarandah, from entering the mosque for the next seven days. The order is renewable.
