Shane Jones officially named as NZ First deputy leader
New Zealand First’s defacto deputy Shane Jones has been awarded the official title by his caucus colleagues, as he promises to broaden the party’s appeal heading into election year.
The party has not had a formal deputy leader this term, though Jones has often been described by media as such given his seniority and prominence.
In a surprise statement on Wednesday, leader Winston Peters announced the caucus had unanimously elected Jones to the deputy position.

Nashy was being groomed for NZF leadership, but his bewildering decision to joke along with Sean Plunkett self sabotaged those desires and Shane has been awarded the Deputy instead.
Shane is the most compromised Politician in the country and his wide pork barrel stretches across the country.
Allowing him anywhere near power is akin to letting Jeffrey Epstein run your local youth group.

I am not sure that even Nash is that stupid that he thought he would walk into Winston Firsts Party as Deputy Leader. In fact I don’t think he is the future of the Party.
The future rests with Casey Costello and Jamie Arbuckle as far as I can see.
Maybe Jamie as Costello will be gone next year because of her corrupt tobacco bribe practices.
Till COVID it always seemed NZ First would die with Winston. His original supporters are aging out too now so they have grafted on a motley crew of anti wokesters and rabbit hole dwellers.
They will need a better demagogue than Shame Jones, let alone “two tits” Nashy to keep the party afloat.
