Attorney-General Judith Collins speaks with Minister Brooke van Velden after ERA comments

Attorney-General Judith Collins has stepped in and spoken with Workplace Relations Minister Brooke van Velden over her claims Employment Relations Authority members believed “money grows on trees”.

While Collins has refused to comment, van Velden confirmed to the Herald she and Collins had “briefly discussed” how they both agreed an independent Employment Relations Authority (ERA) was important.

The Public Service Association, which is strongly critical of van Velden’s comments, has complained to Collins and the Solicitor-General, and is now writing to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, seeking a meeting and for Luxon to condemn the comments.

On August 21, van Velden announced four new appointments to the ERA, welcoming a “better balance” of public and private experience among members.

Before the announcement, van Velden told BusinessDesk she was concerned too many ERA members had solely public sector experience.

The Minister for Handmaidens, Brooke Van Velden, has gone too far even for ACT by attempting to actively undermining the ERA, the NZCTU have called for her sacking…

…the damage ACT have caused workers by attacking their rights and dismantling them has been some of the most ideologically extreme since the destruction of Universal Union membership.

She has zero interest in being a fair or balanced Minister and is only interested in expanding the rights and powers of the bosses.

How bitter must you be against Jacinda to think this extreme attack on workers is justified?

Take a long hard look in the mirror Kiwi.

  1. There was a 40 year old virgin from ACT
Whose lies, then quotes that as fact
    Her dangerous reckons
Are a result of what happens
Because National and ACT made a pact

  2. Any 27 year old bimbo who is happy to be the face of the deeply misogynistic Associates of Child Touchers needs to look in the mirror.

Let’s ask Brooky why ACT asked Jagos victims to talk with an ACT nominated employment lawyer.

Employment lawyers deal with NDA’s, not criminal charges.

ACT attempted to buy their silence. Why would they want to do that if they’re all about “law and order”?

But I guess money does grow on trees when you’re trying to cover up the sexual assault of minors.

  3. She’s damaging all of ACT. Every one of those blood-suckers will regret allowing her to ruin workplace law in this country because they can all lose their jobs, as easily as they got them.
None of them is qualified for the job they have been given, which is becoming abundantly clear, even to dim ACT voters.
