Wayne Brown ‘doing a Muldoon’, rival says, as Auckland mayoralty election debate plans collapse
-
- Mayoral candidate Kerrin Leoni has accused Wayne Brown of avoiding debates.
- Ted Johnson likened Brown’s debate avoidance to former PM Robert Muldoon.
- Brown says Leoni is desperate and never spoke up in council meetings.
I deeply dislike the Mayor of Auckland.
He’s a smug arrogant rich prick who has all the empathy of half baked turd.
I dislike what the Boomer King has done to my city, I dislike his politics, I dislike him.
I dislike Wayne Brown almost as much as I dislike the fact the Left can’t get their arse into gear to put up a decent candidate who can beat him.
All Wayne will do is what he did last time, drop $250 000 on ZB adverts and waltz to victory.
Part of me thinks we should collectively not vote because they simply take our participation and claim that as legitimacy.
If voting fell below 30% he couldn’t pretend to have a mandate.
The Auckland Election is always rigged because it is a private company that runs the elections.
The pathetic number of booths is driven by cost cutting measures.
Arseholes will claim it’s a mail ballot so why can’t you find a mail box, but Auckland electorates have the highest churn of people moving than any other city in the country meaning as much as 25% of the electorate can be moving around at any given time making the mail out and mail in far more difficult for the poor.
Add to this that rich pricks vote in multiple areas, and the elections are not only rigged, but totally biased towards the interests of the wealthy, not the people who actually live in those communities!
So.
Actively refusing to participate in this rigged pretence of legitimacy makes a very strong case, however, the referendum on Māori Wards this year demands participation to stop these racist fuckwits from damaging the very little local representation those Māori wards have managed to achieve.

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Is not voting an option for the Left?
By Martyn Bradbury -August 10, 2025
The Left took that option in the US presidential elections.
Lets face it about Wayne Brown but he is the Drongo Mayor who preferred to play Tennis whilst Auckland Flooded. He is abit like Nero who Fiddled whilst Rome Burned.
I did not vote for him in the last local body election an I WILL NOT be voting for him in the upcoming one. I felt uneasy about him right from the Get Go.
I am a Pakeha/Palagi and my opinion is that Auckland is the biggest city in NZ and also it has the biggest Polynesian population on the planet. I have said this before but it’s time Auckland had a P.I mayor and one who is not in the job for the pay packet, perks of the job and the photo opportunities but one who is More In Touch with those on the Bottom Level of the Income Brackets.
I think we are now totally over the Multi-millionaire Troughing Mayors of Auckland who just Are NOT THERE to connect with Aucklanders whilst charging rate-payers in lower socio economic region more in rates with considerably less services eg a regular bus service.
We live in New Lynn which is considered lower socio economic and working class by many politicians. Our bus service is pathetic i.e One an Hour. That is One Bus an Hour to New Lynn and One Bus an Hour to the area we live. If I miss my bus to home by say 3 seconds I have to wait an hour for the next one. And so even in winter in the pouring rain I would much rather walk home than wait One Bloody Hour for a bus that we cannot be assured will turn up.
This year I turn 65 and will be retiring from the full time working existence. Using public transport has turned out to be expensive i.e costing me under $50.00 a week. It will be lovely to use the Gold Card as it will save a heck of alot of money.
But if supposedly Mayor Brown cannot face the people of Auckland, a city we have lived in over 6 decades, then it shows him up badly for how bad as a mayor he truly is.
We don’t want an old age troughing pensioner as mayor of this city. This city doesn’t need the elderly and contemptuous as its representatives. It needs younger people and more in touch with reality people. Not someone that quibbled about having to forgo a tennis game because Auckland was being flooded and there was a media meeting that needed his attention.
