What if Kiwis re-elect racist, bigoted and corporate worshipping National, ACT and NZF?

What if the astroturf Right can continue to manipulate the social media hate algorithms to promote culture war revenge fantasies?

What if the Māori Party continues to look like it can’t work with the Labour Party?

What if the Greens decide to go on some woke crusade against free speech?

What if Labour brings no new policy that is meaningful?

There are a lot of what ifs to consider regarding next years election, but regardless of the how or why, the what of a second term National/ACT/NZF Government would be far worse than their first term, because they could cement into place all their donors interests and expand the punitive welfare measures starting to take effect.

It would see homelessness become an open wound, more working people forced to flee to Australia and a burgeoning prison population at constant threat of riot.

The investment growth pushed by the Government will have resulted in a new class of elites buying residency via golden visas and they will be using that political influence to continue to bribe the right wing political class.

The Regulatory Standards Bill will be influencing legislation and the donor class who run the right will be struggling to find anything left to deregulate.

A second term of National/ACT/NZF would solidify and maximise the results for their donors interests while continuing to strangle off what was left of civic society.

I believe we would see a large scale sell off of what was left of state assets alongside ongoing subsidisation of the private sector.

I think a second National/ACT/NZF Government with its anti-Māori, anti-Treaty, anti-worker, anti-renter, anti-beneficiary, anti-environment agenda could truly damage the egalitarian DNA of NZ and make any future Left wing Government pointless because the damage would be too great by then.

There is an enormous amount at stake in next years election.

  1. The good news is that 2026 will be the first General Election where “Boomers” will not be in the majority–the not so good news is how to motivate new gens, alienated and excluded potential voters to participate. (yes a lot of boomers are doing it hard in old age too, they are not all greedy, sorted, bastards)

It will take organisational outreach to enrol people, the collapse of the postal system, transient renters and homeless means many people do not receive their orange EC mail, I see it blowing around the streets regularly. Those invested in the system will vote until their last breath, the shat on and oppressed not so much. And their lies the other requirement–something worth voting for from Labour, Green, TPM, such as the lists that regularly appear on TDB from free public transport and dental, taxing the already well off, to restored public ownership of power generation and supply.

The weak link is NZ Labour who retain a pathological attachment to the NZ neo liberal state locked in during the 80s/90s–thanks to Roger and Ruth. Labour has to let go of their toxic legacy or this country is literally doomed. Young people off overseas, with a remaining population of poor that can’t afford to leave, and well off codgers protecting what is…mine, mine, mine! What a great prospect for a country that could be a great place to live again if capital had its arse kicked.

      • Ditto, but as part of Rogernomics, NZ Labour did drive out a number of traditionalists and leftists which led to the formation of New Labour and The Alliance, and diluted any chance of change.

Why they persist in 2025 with a clearly failed project is beyond me, apart from a misplaced inner party loyalty (Labour brand right or wrong) and a remaining class collaborationist strain at the very top.

  2. Nothing would surprise me in this hate full country .I do note the nats are back flipping and reinstating all of the construction projects that were under way under the last government except the ferries which Willis and Winston have sent to the bottom of the deep blue sea .Finally they have realized that you need to invest to have growth .Nearly 20% growth under the last labour led government in 6 years because they invested in projects and employment along with training young people .NZ farmers should all be voting for Labour due to the current record payments they are getting for meat are due to the trade deals labour negotiated with the EU and UK .The extra tonnage of meat and milk being sold now means export companies are having to pay higher prices to fill those raised quotas. However farmers will think that Luxon has made it all happen .Also ,farm boys ,how would you be all doing if JACINDA had not set out to eliminate MICO PLASMA BOVIS when it was about to wipe out the dairy and beef herds .Bloody hell we would be having to import meat from China .

  3. More BS from this appalling CoC with their $6b infrastructure “con”. Why does NZ have to wait, in agony, for the next Election? If Luxon and Willis had a skerrick of integrity they would fall on their swords NOW, put in ‘caretaker PM & FM’ and disappear. However, it’s hard to figure whether they have anyone better as replacements – the cupboard surely is bare! For the morons who voted this lot in, FGS wake up. Hard to fathom whether it is because you have a ‘jellyfish brain’ or simply don’t give a damn. And the Left – you too need to wake up and be prepared! Something has to change and SOON.

  4. If this should happen, the blood will not be on Luxon, Seymour, Peters’s hands- it will be solely the fault of Chris Hipkins.

  5. I was at the greens roadshow in chch yesterday and saturday and it was a very large cross section of age groups from 60s plus down to young folks in late teens early 20s.

So yes the young are stepping up.

  6. What if the Māori Party continues to look like it can’t work with the Labour Party?

I think you have got this one the wrong way round

What if the Labour Party continues to look like it can’t work with the Moari Party?

What if the Greens decide to go on some woke crusade against free speech?

    Again the wrong way round,

What if the Nats and Labour decide to go on a crusade against Palestine supporters free speech?

What if Labour brings no new policy that is meaningful?

Pretty much on the money with this one,

The last will pretty much guarantee a seond Nact NZF government.

    • The British Labour Party are showing us what a Labour government could do with a large majority.

      • Compared to rampant inflation and cost of living under National’s CoC, Labour will be the second coming of Christ and hopefully you will return home to your birth place with your Tory filth.

  7. Diet Coke or real Coke?

If Chippie can convince voters that increasing taxes on the rich is not a good thing

If Chippie can convince voters that tax relief for the poor is a bad thing

If Chippie can convince voters that joining AUKUS is a good thing

If Chippie can convince voters that supporting Israel is a good thing

If Chippie can convince voters that working with the Maori Party is a bad thing

If Chippie can convince voters of all these things, he may well end up convincing voters all these things are so good, voters might decide to vote for the real thing.

  8. If New Zealand re-elects this raging dumpster fire of a government for a second term, we may as well abandon ship and let the nation drift into the iceberg. The damage they’ve caused in the relatively short time they’ve been in charge is impressive, and if voters believe what this country really needs is to throw accelerant onto NACT’s bonfire, then they’re cretinous dullards who deserve everything they get.

After the Treaty Principles Bill, every Maori in the country should hate them.

After the Pay Equity Amendment Bill, everyone with a vagina should hate them.

After the Fast Track Bill, everyone who loves trees, fish and small furry mammals should hate them (and Shane Jones and Chris Bishop.)

And after the stomach-churning farce that was the Regulatory Standards Bill submissions process, everyone who believes legislation should be clear, transparent and easy to interpret should hate them. (If Constitutional Santa, Sir Geoffrey Palmer, says it’s a steaming turd, maybe we should listen to him?)

Look around, Kiwis. They’re actively making stuff worse, particularly for those who are most vulnerable. (National never met a poor person they didn’t feel compelled to punch in the face for purely ideological reasons.)

If you vote for these cunts again, I will disown the lot of you.

    • You understand don’t you that more and more voters are becoming disalusioned and instead of voting for the party they think is best to vote for, have to struggle to decide which is the least worst to vote for

Maybe instead of voting for a new government the government should vote for a new people. (Blaming the voters is not the solution)

As Napoleon said: “There no such thing as bad soldiers, only bad generals”

I we vote for Greens or TPM, Will you still disown us?

  9. The town needs a new sheriff to run the rancher backed rabble out of Dodge.

I’m not seeing many, if any.
