Luxon defends health reforms amid Kiwis seeking surgery overseas

Asked whether the health system is failing as Kiwis go abroad for surgery, PM Christopher Luxon defends outsourcing to private hospitals, saying “outcomes matter” and investment is ramping up.

…and this his the game right?

Shrug and say ‘I’m focused on outcomes’, by pushing more contracts towards the private sector, rather than building the public sector, Luxon can pretend this is a simple choice when really it’s privatisation by stealth.

Most rich right wingers have private health insurance and so don’t give a fuck about the public service, however the vast majority of you aren’t wealthy and don’t have private heath insurance, and for you, you are being fucked.

Comrades, at some stage you are going to have to appreciate site your post covid bitterness at Jacinda has been manipulated. y the right to enact social policy that fucks you over.

Wake up Kiwi, the Right are here to benefit their mates in the private sector by manipulating your hates.

New Zealander’s are so easily played while the rich laugh.

  1. This is a concern even for people with health insurance. Private hospitals only have resources to do easy stuff. If they botch your operation they can’t fix it. You end up in an ambulance off to public. It would be interesting if we adopted the Canadian model of no private hospitals.

  2. When surgeries can’t be commenced past 3pm due to union demands you can’t blame the government for looking at other ways to meet demand. Also if it costs less to use a private health care service than the public service can you blame the government. No you can’t.

The fact that despite spending more money on health year-on-year (irrespective of the government of the day) and the service is getting worse demands looking at all options. If private models can perform the same procedures cheaper and more efficiently that is on the public service and the unions not the government.

    • You can blame the government for everything when they refuse to manage tax and debt responsibly, preferring to be population managers on behalf of the banks and ultra rich than empowering and uplifting the nation.

    • Sorry Frank – you are incorrect on every count.

      There is no “3pm” rule.

Private health care always will cost more than public healthcare simply because the private health providers require profits.

This government is spending less on healthcare per person than ever before. This is due to surging immigration, aging population and rampant inflation.

Private providers simply cannot offer the same service more cheaply.

      You are being misled, Frank.

      • Correct there is no 3pm rule surgeons work evenings and weekends.

Healthcare has been blatantly under funded by the Govt and Private sector since 1980.

      • Well said Ximon, Geoff, Joy and Steve. Raising your population numbers without raising and in fact cutting your budget in real terms in health is simply criminal.
This criminal National CoC is solely responsible.
Labour was starting to turn health around and now it’s gone backwards.

    • I don’t know if that’s correct. I’ve been told people can be waiting to 8pm. before their surgery is cancelled for the day.
Also, what about emergency situations, people coming in through the night? Do they get ignored until morning?
Of course they spend ‘more money on health year-on-year’. We have a growing population. No-one with any sense would expect it to be less!

    • You keep repeating the false right propaganda but that doesn’t make it true. The unions just want things to be safe while also acknowledging that accidents can happen at any time. If the limited number of surgeons are tied up in general surgery and an unexpected event requires immediate action, then a preventable death is the most likely result instead. The answer is to realistically fund health instead of the slight increase that does not allow for inflation and population growth which only fools simpletons like you into thinking we are spending more money on health.

    • Silly comment Frankie. Nurses involved in operations that run past 3pm( overtime) are not remuneration. But they can’t just walk out and so do so because of integrity because they have duty of care. This is not about your hatred of unions ( a typical right wing echo chamber) this is about under funding and now this government promoting savings by cutting staff numbers. National always brings public health to it’s knees, so no Bob troll, as usual you are and idiot an Frankie is completely wrong.

      • So true Squeaky Clean.
Our right wing trolls are so blinkered and blindfolded our Public and private health system has been able to be under funded for 40 odd years.
While the right spun bullshit to cover it up.

  3. To hear Simeon Brown contradicting the likes of the Drs. Bradshaw whose combined years of experience far exceed Simeon’s, is ludicrous. He makes a complete fool of himself every time we hear him.
He’d be well-advised not to comment, rather than make himself look even more foolish.
    His weasel-words never ring true.

  4. Each time I visit my GP and need an xray or some other test they ask do you have insurance .When I say no they inform me that I will more than likely be bumped off the waiting list .Or I can stump up 500 bucks or some other large fee .A recent nerve map cost $750 .

    • Well said Gordon this is now the first response from GP’s. It was never like this.

  5. Noticed Dame Judith Collins sucked off the test of free health care. Damn shame really, she should have used her medical insurance and gone privately with Southern Cross.

  6. Geez Frank are you fucken deaf and dumb did you not listen to what the two experts above said about how the private system sponges of the public system and they are not the only ones who have said this. We pay our taxes to receive decent and timely health treatment, and this is not happening, and it appears to be getting worse under the current government.

  7. Yes, Uncle Tom and maybe they should have left ( Judeath) in one of the corridors for a while so she can experience what many of us have to go through she probably got preferential treatment.

  8. I may be getting long in the tooth but does anyone else see Simeon Brown as just a little boy in a big man’s pair of underpants?
