The anti-Māori Party/Pro NZF faction inside Labour see any association with the Māori Party as the kiss of death and believe a deal with NZF is preferable.
They are utterly wrong.
The economy is tanking and bleeding out, voters will want real solutions, NZF will be a perpetual handbrake to those solutions.
What the anti-Māori Party/Pro NZF faction inside Labour don’t comprehend is that 70% of the Māori demographic are under 40, the future is browner and younger.
That is not NZF!
NZF are a calcified relic gaining popularity through anti-vaccine, anti-trans, climate denial culture war revenge fantasies.
There is no future with that shit.
Winston’s animosity towards Chippy and his ruling Chippy out is a signal to the anti-Māori Party/Pro NZF faction inside Labour that they must roll him before a deal can be done.
What the anti-Māori Party/Pro NZF faction inside Labour don’t comprehend is that for a NZF/Labour Government to work, it requires the agreement of the Greens and while the Greens were prepared to be a political gimp for Jacinda’s first Government, they will refuse point blank to be impotent for Winston’s benefit.
NZF hope to sweeten the deal for the anti-Māori Party/Pro NZF faction inside Labour by having someone like Stuart Nash stand for NZF in Napier with a party list ranking that is higher than Shane’s so Winston can look to set Nash up as the next leader.
Winston wants to be set up as the next ambassador to America and he needs a leadership transition that strengthens NZF.
I don’t think Winston likes Shane Jones enough to give him the leadership, I think he sees pedigree in Nash and a possibility to cut a deal with the anti-Māori Party/Pro NZF faction inside Labour to keep NZF politically relevant.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Was there a memo we missed about Winston moving on? Because he sure looks determined to stay on at NZ First and Parliament until he is carried out in a box!
NZ First after Winston will be an even nastier reactionary rump party, run along the lines of Shane Jones recent mouthing off on mining and everything else, whether Jones is at the helm or not.
Winston has another election in him and while he leads a hook up with Labour is very remote .This is a good dign for those of us that do notcwantca country run by the current Labour party.
Nash he is not very popular and, in my view, not a very good politician, I can’t see him taking over from winstone and when winstones gone so is NZF. I’m hoping they will be gone at the next election our young Maori need to vote so we can get rid of this lot. And our Pakeha whanau need to think about the damage NZF, and Act are doing, is this the sort of country they want their mokopuna to grow up in.
