A Hive of Scum and Villainy

Look, I’m no expert in Crown-Māori relationships, but I’m pretty sure writing a law and forcing Iwi to concede to a negotiation is probably, based on the last 2 centuries, not going to work…

Explained: What’s happening with Shane Jones’ Treaty settlement bill for Ngāpuhi?

NZ First deputy leader Shane Jones says his party is drafting a proposed member’s bill that would force a single “critical mass” commercial Treaty settlement on Ngāpuhi.

The move would draw a line in the sand, he says, in negotiations that stretch across several decades between the Crown and the iwi from the north.

Despite being a good headline grabber, the idea is far from becoming a reality – yet.

The proposed member’s bill would need the numbers, and that remains in question under the current government.

…what I love here is the political theatre of it all.

1 – Shane wants to be the Māori who beats up on other Māori for redneck reactionary white voters.

2 – It’s a private members Bill. It has as much chance of being adopted as a handicapped pet that isn’t toilet trained.

This is a dog whistle canine trumpet.

Shane Jones just gets too many votes by bashing the Nephs on the couches from old reactionary white culture warriors, that he can’t help himself anymore.

Sure he wants to drill and kill Freddy the Frog, but don’t forget he’s against the darkie malarky too!

It’s all so predictable and sad.

  1. He’s one of those loyal Maori to the crown that responsible for Maori losing their lands and livelihoods through the 19th century the most famous of them is Waka Nene Ngāpuhi Chief and then in the early 20th century we got Ngāti Paroa Apirana Ngata. These sellouts (Kupapa)are everywhere in Maoridom and this current govt has plenty to burn.
