79 more killed and 289 wounded
Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile launches and gunfire on homes, as well as medical and other facilities, have resulted in 79 dead and 289 wounded. Civil Defence crews retrieved five more bodies from underneath bomb-damaged property, bringing the total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, to at least 56,077. The total wounded is now at least 131,848. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 89 and, that of those injured, is more than 210. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

CHILD Mother, what was ‘Israel’ ?
MOTHER Israel was a colonial concept by European Zionists whereby they said the native population did not exist and only Zionist Jews had rights.
CHILD Why did it fail? Why did are we now part of Egypt?
MOTHER The Zionists could only stay in power because the United States of America helped them with weapons and influence. The USA could stop the United Nations from taking action against Israel because in those days the USA was an empire.
When the USA was no longer able to help the Zionists they had to start negotiating with their Arab neighbours and so they had to give up land to Egypt, to Syria and Jordan. They also had to give back land to the Palestinian natives.

MOTHER Not really – we are Jews and we live here quite peacefully with our Arab neighbours, Christian and Muslim as well as other Jews. People did that for hundreds of years under the Ottomans, the Byzantines too.
