Elon Musk is leaving the Trump administration after leading effort to slash federal government
Elon Musk is leaving his US government role as a top adviser to President Donald Trump after spearheading efforts to reduce and overhaul the US federal bureaucracy.
His departure, announced on Wednesday evening (local time), marks the end of a turbulent chapter that included thousands of layoffs, the evisceration of government agencies and reams of litigation. Despite the upheaval, the billionaire entrepreneur struggled in the unfamiliar environment of Washington, and he accomplished far less than he hoped.
He lied.
He claimed DOGE saved $2 Trillion.
It didn’t.
He then claimed DOGE has saved $1 Trillion.
It didn’t.
He then admitted it wasn’t more than $150billion, and even those numbers are questionable.
Elon destroyed whatever reputation he had with the Tesla Car market with many liberals recoiling in horror at his naked Plutocracy.
All Elon did was sexually arouse those MAGA and Libertarians who are turned on by amputating the State no matter the cost.
He has destroyed livelihoods, they sacked essential workers (who they had to urgently hire back), he weaponised USAID, shut down Voice of America and even cut funding to Sesame Street!
Musk is demonstrably false about the amount he’s actually saving while being wilfully manipulative in the framing of the spending in the first place and that all seems fine by Republicans.
This is how fascism works, this is how a cult of personality functions, this is how Democracy withers.
Look, let’s cut public spending waste, but when I say waste, I’m not talking about cutting public servants or removing aid, I’m talking the actual obscene waste of corporate welfare that is used to prop up the neoliberal Corporate hegemony. It’s not the public servant working in underfunded services who are your enemy, it’s the Corporations and Wealthy who benefit from enormous tax breaks, loopholes and deregulation who we need to go after to cut waste.

…voters are angry and frightened and hurting because the Cost of Living crisis sparked by Covid inflation reminded everyone how economically vulnerable they are. The Right have underfunded the state so that public services collapse and they can swoop in and take what’s left over to set up monopolies they control!
People are so close to connecting the dots…
…THAT is the frustration and anger that the Right are harvesting which is ludicrous because it is the Right Wings neoliberal economic agenda that causes these public services to crash in the first place!
Musk has caused enormous damage, that he is slinking away as his reputation burns is like everyone who enters Trump’s orbit.
