Judge blocks Donald Trump’s move to bar foreign students at Harvard University

A US judge has suspended the Trump administration’s move to block Harvard from enrolling and hosting foreign students after the prestigious university sued, calling the action unconstitutional.

On Friday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revoked Harvard University’s ability to enrol foreign nationals, throwing the future of thousands of students and the lucrative income stream they provide into doubt.

But Harvard sued and US district judge Allison Burroughs ordered on Saturday that “the Trump administration is hereby enjoined from implementing… the revocation of plaintiff’s SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Programme) certification”.

There will be an injunction hearing on May 29, a court filing showed.

President Donald Trump is furious at Harvard, which has produced 162 Nobel prize winners, for rejecting Washington’s oversight on admissions and hiring amid his claims the school is a hotbed of anti-Semitism and “woke” liberal ideology.

…Every week now Trump goose steps closer and closer to naked christofascism with his constant attacks on Universtites and fake claims of anti-semitism…

Harvard defies Trump

Harvard won’t accept the Trump administration’s demands for a sweeping ideological crackdown on both students and faculty — putting billions in federal funding at risk.

      • “No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue,” Harvard President Alan Garber wrote in an open lettertoday.

📚 Federal officials had demanded that Harvard “audit the student body, faculty, staff, and leadership for viewpoint diversity,” and overhaul its admissions and hiring process to remove any diversity considerations.

      • They also said Harvard must reject international students “hostile to American values and institutions … including students supportive of terrorism or anti-Semitism,” ban some student clubs and sideline faculty who are “more committed to activism than scholarship.”

The demands came in conjunction with an investigation into roughly $9 billion in federal funding.

…the famous quote from Bertrand Russell about when Fascism starts is so apt here.

The threats to Universities about free speech and thought crimes fly in the face of democratic values.

Trump is a fascist and he will only get more fascist…

…watching Trump lambast the South African President over bad faith fake white genocide talking points seems like a level of audacity we just have to expect now.

His latest attempted trade war threat with the EU highlights his chaos never ends.

  1. The fake white genocide still resonates with his ardent supporters even though it’s been debunked. Why President Ramaphosa even visited the WH to be ridiculed publicly by Trump is dumbfounding IMO. The antisemitism canard has been weakened by its false implications accusing anyone that criticizes apartheid Israel or Zionism in general.

  2. Harvard has been a failed institution for a few decades now and simply lives on it’s reputation. Like the Catholic Church expects everyone else to fund their activities while holding onto their billions of dollars of assets.

Don’t like it – fund your own activities.

    • Frank comes out and supports Trump of course. A University that has the likes of Jarrod Kushner, and his bent father donate crap loads of money to it so Jarrod, who wasn’t smart, can get attend. Trump then goes out says how do all these people get in to this den of antisemitism. Gee Donald ask your Jewish son in law. F’ing idiot.

  3. Universities in NZ do not have the authority to recruit students from overseas without scrutiny by the dept of immigration. I think the same should apply in the USA.

  4. As a graduate of two NZ universities (Auckland and Waikato) I have watched universities transition from centres of open debate through to citadels for the out-of-touch woke thought police.
