How Nicola Willis walks the budget tightrope will determine snap election

Now the enormity of the budget cuts that Nicola Willis is ideologically excited to be committing are now public (just as TDB warned you), the game is how she walks the budget tightrope to avoid a snap election.

Here’s the state of play:

While Kiwis are hearing about these budget cuts, they still have no clear idea exactly what services are actually getting gutted, so as we move towards the budget the enormity of service cuts will start becoming abundantly clear…

NZF will be watching to see if the cut backs are too steep and if the public notice, because if the public understand how terrible these cuts are, they will turn on National with intense anger and NZF will be pushed into a snap election.

REMEMBER – National are prioritising tax cuts we can’t afford and tax loops holes for the richest landlords WHILE deregulating industry for their Donor mates!

ps – Watching Simeon Brown panic as the size of the Dr’s strike emerged yesterday was glorious. Watching that smarmy little prick try and blame the Unions for his cut backs is glorious.

As sick people and their whanau start understanding how much damage he is prepared to cause them, the fury will only build.

  1. No snp election till Luxon gets his knighthood .Thats his sole aim in life .He has followed Key from a failed bussiness career over seas into AIR NZ TO FUCK THAT UP THEN INTO NATIONAL AND pm and fuck that up then get knighted and fuck off .Same plan same result a destroyed country .

    • Because there are NOT ‘like very other type of fucking business’ are they love?

      There is a nice deal between the State and the Private Landlords – the State NEVER builds enough public housing and in return pay Landlords $2billion per year in housing subsidies to ensure desperation that keeps private rentals high.

      So OTHER THAN THE FACT HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT , the State and private landlords have colluded to gain a desperate rental market that keeps rents high.

      So fuck them and the moment there is a change in Government we come after the property speculators

    • Why should us taxpayers be propping up failing businesses just because they donated to the coalition .How much are we spending on keeping them afloat ,dont forget to include rent subsidies ,ECE subsidies ,and working for families as they are part of the corporate welfare state

    • How is it that private landlords get subsidies but Willis has proclaimed this Budget will be about cuts to public services?
      Even a third former will tell you that that just does not add up?

    • Whilst I agree, the cost of shelter is crippling this country because of politicians with rentals manufacturing subsidies and manufacturing scarcity with bullshit zoning rules and “standards” to reward them and their own. We’ve had a 100+ years of gentrification and restrictive zoning being favourable to the landed gentry, so fuck them.

There are many problems with Simeon brown the main one unfortunately is he is just a boy, he has no real clue about unions,no real life experience Luxon flashed 2 fingers at health when he castrated Reti ( although he only had one ball to start with) and put a bank teller in charge of the most important portfolio in government and in a nutshell that’s what Luxon really thinks of the New Zealand public ,he’s sorted and more often than not he don’t care

  6. Just a reminder. Jones is associate Minister of Finance. How much blame should he take when this austerity budget is presented to parliament ? If Winston wants to bring the government down over the massive cuts then just how much influence would Jones have had in the process ? The other associate’s Seymour and Bishop are fully involved as is the New Zealand Initiative in directing this attack on public services.

    If Winston forces an early dissolution over these cuts he will need to explain why Jones and NZF did not have more influence in preventing this coming austerity budget.

  7. We are also seeing an increase in homicides and violent crime due to poor socio-economic conditions, and the increased availability of A class drugs, growing poverty and homelessness is also exacerbating desperation.
    All of this I blame on the COC government who are locking thousands up but eventually they have to be released back into our communities and when released they are like damaged goods, too hard to fix better to toss. And to make matters worse our mentally ill are being neglected and they are committing heinous crimes. Our country is in one big fucken mess, no rail enabled ferries for four years, with Winstone the spin master trying to justify this and it’s not good enough.

  10. Hopefully the ancient fart sac calls a snap election and wheezes off with 4.9%, putting an end to this god-awful government for good.
    It would be the legacy Winnie always hoped for, one achievement at long last but saving the country from certain annihilation is worth a shot or two of the finest single malt.
    The question is who to vote for. The only option I see right now is TPM. Hopefully they can flood the party with the new crop of taiohi (like Hana-Rawhiti Kareariki Maipi-Clarke) coming through who are passionate, politically aware (while not self serving corrupt and venal boomers) and venerate not just those before them but those future generations who are currently shafted by all the other political parties, including the greens.

  11. We can at least find solace in knowing this will be Willis’s second to last budget. Next year will be her last and a massive lolly scramble as she fails in her attempt at reelection.

Mean while we are now down to two ferries and the new ones that would be here next year are rusting away in the ship builders yard .Just think how much money is being wasted and how many jobs and trades people have left due to her shutting down every project that was started by the last government .The ferries would be beginning sea trials by the end of the year ,Dunedin hospital would be well past the half way stage and another 20000 houses would have been built .Hell even light rail might be underway in Auckland .But no we are fast driving closer to the fiscal cliff with nothing to show for it except more un or under employed and growing poverty .
