Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters had not directed his ministry specifically to roll back any diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies or practices before launching his party’s bill to rid it from the public service earlier this month.
That is despite Peters saying in recent weeks he believed the “woke agenda” of the previous Government had impacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Mfat) and he had made clear to Mfat “over the past 16 months” it should reflect the current Government’s priorities.
Peters was asked via Written Parliamentary Questions (WPQs) from the Greens what “instructions, directions or advice” he or his office had given his department to “roll back, rescind, or repeal” any DEI policies and practices before March 7, when the New Zealand First leader announced the bill.
He replied: “None”, according the response seen by the Herald.
Another question was what advice, reports or information Peters had received on DEI policies or practices before March 7.
Again, he responded: “None”.

Winston hadn’t even bothered to check exactly what ‘woke’ things had been passed before he launched his ‘war on woke’???
But that would make this whole distraction a disingenuous bad faith argument, which is funny because this whole ‘war on woke’ is exactly that, a disingenuous bad faith argument!
Political Octogenarian and grumpy granddad who gets tricked by Russian disinformation scams, Winston Peters, is leading his war on woke because his anti-vaxx conspiracy theories and anti-Māori dog whistles can’t get any traction over David Seymour’s canine trumpet.
You would barely know that Shane Jones and Winston are currently attempting to strip the Treaty out of all legislation because David Seymour has taken all the news oxygen with his Treaty Principles Referendum.
NZF have attacked the Trans Community and attempted to sate the anti-vaxxers but they are still just above the 5% threshold.
By starting his ‘war on woke’ Winston hopes to regain some of his reactionary fervour because bashing Māori, the trans community and vaccines isn’t enough in todays reactionary redneck electorate.
Borrowing culture war talking points from MAGA shouldn’t be celebrated, it should be punished.
The hypocrisy that his own Party constitution has diversity as an important goal…
…should shame Winston into silence, but we all know NZFirst literally has no shame.
NZF is polling close to the 5% threshold, Winston desperately needs some new war on woke to gather enough fools to his Party.
Winston’s ‘war on woke’ all sounds desperate and contrived, like a Boomer taking Viagra on a first date.
Which nicely sums up NZFirst, an octogenarian erection that barely 5% of the country wants.

Let’s face it. The heads of the public service don’t listen to their ministers instructions or the governments intent. Woke in the public service is more of a problem than woke in the government.

Winston would do well to be a little bit more woke to the damage his useless rants are .
It is his turn to deflect attention from the shit this government is doing now that the treaty shit is dead in the water .

Clearly government ministers need to be more woke as is the case with Potaka who did not even know the treaty was being removed from the RMA even though he would have been present when cabinet was presented with the draught of the bill .As minister of Maori affairs he should step down as clearly he is the token Maori in the white supremist cabinet and has been told to sit at the back of the room like a good little Maori boy and keep quiet.
Didn’t Potaka say he was in the dark, his rambling was nonsense, he is a modern day kupapa and he is the weakest and most pathetic, useless and gutless Minister of Maori Affairs we have ever had. He should be ashamed no wonder he was laying low at Te Matatini.

Globally we all spend so much time taking government seriously and not applying practised critiques. We talk about things that will divert us from looking at our reality outside our own windows; we can see, (in a glass darkly) but our lives and seeming intentions still remain obscure.
The last month or so has been excellent, as this trio, of dog tucker, strive to attempt to lift their numbers in the polls, by not only continuing to ridicule the opp, for past legislation and finance, but also resorting to the low bar, of personal name calling and the like, or like a primary school play ground spat over who tossed their free slop first.
Role on role on, the election, and lest see if they are !awoke! for what will be their lost Thatcher like, stazi rule.
Worst govt in the history of this country, judging by the polls they are disliked by even traditional National voters. The National ship is sinking fast, their only plan is ditching anything the opposition put in place, most Nat MP’s are a spiteful bunch of unqualified to govern losers.
